QUOTE(Johannlo @ Feb 18 2012, 06:48 PM) hmm. both are superb lenses i must say. A really tough decision to make. if i were to take pictures of candid group of students, what do you think? I'm getting a prime lens because i'm the official photographer for my high school year book. so yeah. my idea is good bokeh with around 12-28 students framed. i'm thinking about the 35mm though. SIGH! When you're shooting such a big group... you want bokeh? You probably need something like a 200mm f/2 and standing far enough to put everyone in the frame |

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Feb 18 2012, 09:26 PM) Hahaha yea! 35mm won't give any bokeh... and for lighting up a group from far away... you definitely need a radio trigger.. and lots of flash lights? LOL.I think for your group shots, your lens line up will do great! Now you need a flash to light them up What kind or environment are you shooting the group?? Outside would be a great tho |

QUOTE(reddevilchoo @ Feb 18 2012, 11:25 PM) Guys, I only found 85mm 1.4D available in my workplace only currently. No stock for 85mm 1.8G and the price for D800/D800E is not available. Wow, retail D800?All I know is my boss already carrying D800 and I'm so tempted to try but don't dare What I know is the D800/D800E shown during the launch are just prototypes. Those invited to attend also not allowed to take pictures and save to their own memory card. I wonder who is your boss... some professional photog? o_O |

Put to 70mm and when lens is facing upwards it will creep to about 85mm.. scary... -.- This post has been edited by celciuz: Feb 20 2012, 12:05 AM |

Unlikely, stock is very limited at the moment. But let's see how it goes.so if malaysia SRP is around there, looks like brand new D700 street price will be below RM5.8k or maybe more now...hopefully around RM5.5k then see everyone rush to sell theirs off now before losing more... |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Feb 28 2012, 10:28 AM) Yeah, I saw your post and the discussion. However, it was about focus ring and not zoom ring. I'm asking about zoom ring. Of course, the D7000 is small. D700 grip feels much better than D7000. The D800 is supposed to be a little bit smaller than the D700... which I think is good! Because D700 + grip is taller than a D3s ._. hard to fit in some bags.Hmm... I'm yet to experience any problem with my 17-55 yet *touch wood*. Just wondering if the zoom ring tight is an issue... It's the 85mm f/1.8G First impression when I held the D800E, it's "fatter" than the D7000. I didn't hold D700 or D300/D300s that much yet, therefore it gives me that fat feeling. Didn't get chance to save the image or put into computer for review of course, but when max zoom the photo using the camera can see superb details. Taken half-portrait of a model but yet able to see the red lines of her eyes clearly. Marvellous... Somehow they updated the UI icons also. |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Feb 28 2012, 12:15 PM) That's why I mention I have used to D7000's grip and less experience with D700 and D300/D300s which is bigger. However, after my experience with D7000 + BG, more likely for my next body I'll scrap the idea of having BG. It is not that I dislike the weight, in fact I'm kinda big size and like to hold heavy stuff. But the tendency of doing portrait is somehow higher when you have a BG and I have actually been advised by a senior wedding photographer to remove the BG. Unless you're shooting portraiture, best to take the BG off the camera. Grip is good to balance for bigger lens... ;-)Stock for D800 should be available by the end of March 2012 I bet you'll like the D800/D800E LCD after seeing how much you complained about yours |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Feb 28 2012, 02:44 PM) Initially, I have the same thought of balancing the body for bigger lens such as 70-200. However, later I found that it's just the matter of how I hold the camera. Now I seem to understand why many wedding photographers that I know didn't use BG for the body. Good, but I still prefer grip for lens such as 70200. For smaller lens no issue at all. I'm a lazy guy recently.. but holding 70200 + D700 without grip feels really weird :SHuh? Why is that so? QUOTE(barney @ Feb 28 2012, 06:35 PM) ive noticed my old nikon lens has got a small little tiny fungus at the very corner of the inside glass lens. it doesn't affect the picture because it's at the very corner of the inside lens and away from the sensor view. i plan to get it cleaned (before it start to spread) and serviced same time at nikon service center. how much this cost roughly? it's a 18-105 zoom lens. if ya know how much the range is let me know! thanks RM75 onward depending on your lens. Last I asked for 70200 cleaning was about 300+. |
