QUOTE(aztoiozalan @ Jun 7 2012, 06:18 AM) err...rebranding then sound no good dy? i dont understand Usually when something gets rebranded, its because its marketing concept and execution failed to draw in sales. Companies who hold multiple brands under their belts usually 'absorbs' the non-popular one into their more well-to-do brands.

Using Ipod Classic. A marvelous rubbish bin! Sold Creative x-fi2 because it was not what i think it was. Apparently the crystallization function in x-fi (in my ears) is the same as HTC smartphones with "beats" audio option enabled. Just tuning the EQ to "powerful", ie the V-shaped curve. Lagipun, I really dislike waiting for the micro-sd card to load everytime I wanna play songs from there.

guys, any thoughts on the RWA iMod? I know $650 is a lot steep, but is the SQ worth the money?

good enough is a very relative term. what is good enough for me might not be good enough for you.
my point is, the iMod basically pulls a direct line out from the DAP's DAC for use with amps, but right now there are already standalone DACs (with chips better than the wolfson) that you can use without the modding your idevice.
me personally i'd rather get the CLAS/Fostex than to mod the idevice. imod only works on the older gens and electronics don't really last the distance now.

I agree. The iMod only if you plan to connect direct to an amp, thus saving a step in between DAP and amp. With the emergence of devices like CLAS and HP-P1, the iMod isn't necessary anymore, and has been superseded.
Of course, if you prefer your sandwich to be slimmer, then the iMod saves a layer. The only "modding" I'd do to my iPod would be finding a 240GB HDD and install it in.
