Try to buy from the reputable insurance companies.
For example Great Eastern, Prudential, Allianz and so on.
With RM 300 per month, u can actually buy a sound medical policy.

With this tight budget, then he has to buy Major Medical Insurance (MME) from etiQa insurance.
The insurance is summarized as follow;-
1). Low premium from RM 60 to RM 300++ per annum, depend on age.
2). Only cover critical illness.
3). Cover necessary expenses for surgery and hospitalization as other medical policy but only for critical illness only
e.g. Cancer, kidney failure and so on.
4). Year coverage up to RM50,000
5). Guarantee yearly renewal.

Contact the nearest etiQa branch, they will tell u the detail of this product.

With that tight budget and his age, Life Insurers are definately out of the question. The only way he can get medical insurance is through General Insurers. Some examples of plans that I found are listed below, with their premiums for age 38 in brackets:

Berjaya Sompo - B.Health.Net
Plan HN80 (RM400 per annum) or HN120 (RM480)

Lonpac - Care Plus
Plan 5 (RM 423)

Uniasia General Insurance - Medistar
Plan 1 (RM468)

There might be more out there, just keep looking. Also, make sure that you find out whether the plans are cashless admission plans or "pay first, reimburse later" plans. Hope that helps in your search.

Actually for the same price, for your info the benefit of Investment Linked Medical Card is actually higher than that of standalone.

Normally what people do (for those who does not want to have the so-called savings component) is still choose investment linked, but adjusting the premium lower in such a way that the premium paid can marginally cover the insurance charges so that there is little value to the surrender value or cash value.

for this medical card, is there any comparison chart that i can view for all providers in malaysia?

i already got my own set of medical coverage (critical, P.A, hospitalization) in singapore but since i may be going malaysia. i'm looking at medical card whereby i could use it to see doctors/hospital for treatment.
preferably to be private doctors and hospital.

its quite a headace to choose which insurances are good because there are many out there. basically all are ok. For me what important before buying any insurance you should ask ppl around you who already have insurance policies and ask them their feedback. So far, the insurance i have right now is very good in terms of claim( but not from me). Lots of my fren having same insurances, when they making claims, was not very hard and actually quite simple as long you provide all the proper documents need to be submitted. Also i bought this insurance from my fren(agent), so if anything happen it easy for me to refer back.

Creating Awareness & Warnings not to be Ignored when purchasing a Medical Insurance Plan!

Do you know that nearly 90% of Malaysians are clueless on the types of policies they have bought over the years. They have been paying for the policies with assumption that it will pay them in full no matter what their claims are without understanding the underlying limitations! And most of them not even know what are they paying for. Common reason of Malaysian buying policies is mainly because the agent is their friends, family etc. and some even bought the policy based on the branding and marketing "claims" that it's the No.1 insurance company in Malaysia. Please be noted that branding of the insurance company won't help you at all! What matters the most is in your policy documents! Most people won't even bother to read the term and condition clearly but just blindly listen to the agent! Different medical plans in Malaysia have different limitation! There's no such thing as all medical insurance are the same!!

If you already have policies, please get them reviewed and I promise you will get the shock of your life!!! Make a choice to understand the limitations of your policies before its too late! Don't just sit and get quotation thru email for comparison in premium cost and investment return but sit down with financial advisor who can help you and assist you in choosing the best medical plan based on your needs, budget and how to avoid costly mistakes.

The most crucial aspect of claiming is what documented in your policy document, you need to understand the fine prints, black and white! You need to know how to avoid and save yourself from burning ship before its too late! Because health changes overnight!!!

An experienced agent would have done many hospitalisation claims for his/her clients over the years. Through the experience, one can tell what it gonna work for you & what can be the biggest financial cost of your life!!

If you have a choice to choose:

1. Which one is the smarter choice?

A) Company A pays 90% of your Medical Bills- 10% Co Insurance borne by policy holder

B) Company B pays 100% of your Medical Bills fully

2) Are you aware of the difference between Inpatient Hospitalization & Outpatient Treatment in your policy? Why is it separated in your Medical Schedule of Benefits?

3) What are the limitations in your policy Vs the Actual Cost of Hospital Bills in Malaysia

Actuaries are highly trained individuals with such intelligence to determine the risk factor before getting a plan approved by Bank Negara.
Do not just take the word of an agent verbally, but always look at the fine prints black&white, and the Cost of Insurance chart in the policy documents- understand the pros and cons clearly before you make any Costly Mistakes especially during Hospital Claim!

**Please take note- this is mainly to create awareness for malaysians to Make A Smart decision before its too late!!

Do contact me if u need in depth understanding in helping you make that WISE decision before purchasing a medical policy.
No obligation at all! You don't wanna miss this opportunity!

You'll be amazed,Yes!

Thanking you.

Too bad there are some clients who think they can read the quotation and understand it by themselves. Which is rarely the case.

It is better for them to sit down with agents and understand further. There is always no obligation to sign up a plan after meeting up.

If you are still looking for a cheap medical card that cost RM500 per annum, i can work something out for you. here's my number 0169658960 (JC). It is always best to look back into the policies that you have bought and check whether does the benefits of the insurance will do you good or not. I have seen people get cheated by irresponsible agents and been paying for years over something which will not benefit them in the future.
