It is true that high internet speed is tempting...but right now all i really do is normal surfing. With my current BB i cannot even watch video on facebook..well i still can open LYN and blog but it's sure slow like hell

If can afford, YES is the best already, see all the threads here you will know. No complaints about my YES, but have to kiam siap in using for video/downloads. If not doing those 2 things then you no problem at all.

You said 5 people? Then probably Huddle not good enough for you (4 wireless only, and prob battery habis fast fast), get Zoom. I prefer Huddle can carry around in car etc. though, dunneed data plan liao =).

For a backup Internet service/light surfing needs, YES 4G is perfect, and if the MUR of RM 30 doesn't bug you, go for it, mate!

I tried it on a mate's netbook once... in a house in PJ which also had a 4M Streamyx connection.. TMNUT lost in terms of DL, UL speed lol....

Of course, its perfect if surfing and mail checking is all you do... Videos/Bulk downloads/sustained file transfers are a one way ticket to the poorhouse with yes lol...

Upload speed can vary with each usage..this just a test. You can try if you want and if you are satisfied, go ahead. But if are not, there is no string attached. smile.gif Otherwise, choose maxis or Unifi

for YES 4G? no contract whatsoever. no need to terminate. Just go buy the Go starter pack, you got YES ID for RM50 and Rebate RM50.yo can use it straight away.all you need to do is maintain top up RM30 per month and there is no postpaid plan.
Any more info go to here-->http://www.yes.my/v2/index.do

YES is going to launch new plan... wait for that if no hurry.

according to their promoters, it is postpaid plan, reduced speed after reaching quota (current plans are based on prepaid & no internet access after quota finished), if that work like current 3G plan, sure many 3g users migrate ...

i too waiting for more detailed info, if turn out really same as how existing 3g plan works , cut 3g line ...

the CEO already speak some words in the newspaper,

their promoters confirmed got new plan ahead, just wait would be it really 'surprise' us by launching a 3g plan alike unlimited but speed reduced after quota, then many will be tempted to switch from 3g to yes...

No coverage = no connection, simple as that.
They do not update their coverage map everyday so the sales assistant might not give you a good answer.

Hey Guys... just to share some info... I'm a new user of YES 4G for 1 months plus... last month I reloaded VP68... after expired, I reloaded VP68 again 2 days ago... BUT my previous balance were forfeited... The reason given by YES customer service assistant was "you need to reload before the expiry date"... I am very disappointed with the reason given... mad.gif

1) YES should give customer notification before the expiry date
2) I really have no idea about this regulation as I'm a new user
3) Should not forfeit user's balance... OR at least give some reasonable time (like 1 week) for user to reload...

For new user, please take note... Thanks...

Actually there is expiry date given..its stated in your account. My advice for you is ALWAYS check your account. BTW for the coverage issue all you need to do is to check 1st by yourself (borrow anybody's huddle or go and try).

regarding expiry date, do we have to reload the value pack before that date, or is that date the last date you can reload before the pack expires? I'm a bit confused and alwAys have to juggle this date so that it falls after my payday. This month my payday falls exactly on the expiry date.

Can anyone clarify? Thanks in advance

1) so if we didnt reload before the date, our account will be terminated or only our previous balance were gone?
2) if i use YES to play online game will it cost super $$$ or same as light surfing?

1) If you reload after the expiry date the previous balance will be waived for valuepack only not the normal reload
2)Depends on what game that you play. I always use to play dota on GG and its really cheap. RM30 per month should be enough. Browser type game may use more data.

So If I want to start with YES I pay a one time RM50 for the simcard?

Then RM30 per month minimal to use it.

I can call for 9 Sen/minute and use fast internet for 3 Sen/mb.

If I reach 2.5gb I am screwed. What do I pay for each extra mb after the 2.5gb?

Is the coverage good in KL? I just switched from Maxis (great coverage) to TuneTalk (sheit coverage)....so now YES? I live near Mid Valley (where TuneTalk is crap).

1.For starter you have to get Go Starter pack costs $100 with $50 rebate/credit inclusive of a Go dongle
2.If you reach 2.5GB you will get $9 rebate, the per extra MB price is still 3sen/MB.if you use 3GB,you get $23 rebate. For better savings take valuepack 68 or 150 with 3.5GB data or 10GB bundled with 150 min + 150 SMS/250 sms + 250 min

It's actually pretty simple. Just buy let say RM70 YES credit, then use that to buy VP68 for 3.5GB. But always remember to check to data volume balance. When the quota finish, you still can surf the internet but it runs on your YES credit balance. That's when you're going to top-up credit.

Either the postpaid is good or not, i'm sticking with prepaid until we have enough feedback from those who use postpaid. IMHO, i love the prepaid with Valuepack. See the difference VP150 for 10gb and Postpaid plan 168 for 10gb...hmmm

Last night tried streaming sopcast but wont work well using YES 4G...

My friend use UNIFI, although slower, but streaming smooth compared to YES, lag a lot.

Although YES theoretical speed is fast, actual application is so so...

YES is going to launch new plan... wait for that if no hurry.

according to their promoters, it is postpaid plan, reduced speed after reaching quota (current plans are based on prepaid & no internet access after quota finished), if that work like current 3G plan, sure many 3g users migrate ...

i too waiting for more detailed info, if turn out really same as how existing 3g plan works , cut 3g line ...

hmm, i still prefer prepaid VP68 compare to postpaid plan... i guess it all about the usage of each potential user... for myself, i mainly use the voice-call & moderate internet surfing :-)

launched. the ads also seen in papers today, full page ads. i think better to open a thread just focused dsicussing on Yes postpaid plan - the experience of various plans, the device talks, 3g users migration... most importantly most ppl still not aware now got YES new postpaid plan same as 3G, so better make it clear & sharp & focused discussion on postpaid only there: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2254299

as for what i can understand
1 min mention suppose to be the air time (call minutes)
for internet/data plan will count as from bandwidth
which mean no matter how many minutes 3MB of transfer = 9sen no matter upload or download ~

ok, i am in bukit beruang melaka... i just bought a dongle from mika to test my coverage and i got 1 got to say i have!!
i stayed in ixora 9th floor if u must ask and i get 3 out of 5 bar.

Now here is my dilemma.. to buy value pack 68 or use postpaid 68.
what are the pros and cons? i read a few pages back and i saw ppl saying postpaid is better even after u use past your qouta... (meaning u get 1mb and above to check email and etc, correct me if i read it wrongly)

and there is 2 thread.. i do not know which 1 to post it in so i will copy this n post a duplicate in the other thread as well...

it's simple really.
Postpaid 68 =4GB data quota only. pros: after the quota finished you still can surf the internet but on limited speed
cons: Only 4GB quota of data. and need to pay monthly of course
Prepaid Valuepack 68=3.5GB data+150 minute airtime+150sms.
pros: got free air time and sms
Unfinished usage will rollback if buy another VP68 or VP150 before the expiry date.
cons: Need to pay RM30 every month to make your account active
after the quota finished, you cannot surf the internet except YES homepage.
IMHO better stick to prepaid VP68:).I'm also using prepaid VP150 next week gonna top up and buy VP150 again

Been using yes since oct 2011 and still happy with the speed i get.
I lived in puchong and managed to get constant 12 to 13Mb each time. Yeay!

But as other users said,it us only good for surfing, email checking and few video streaming.
With 3sen per Mb,it is not sufficient for downloading.
Now yes have a postpaid package and it give more data usage compare to prepaid.

Hapyy surfing!

the maximum speed you will get after speed throttled is 128 kbps. which means from 0-128 kbps. so u do the maths biggrin.gif

alot of user will say upfront, 'i use very little only, just normal email and fb only' but due YES is too fast, alot of users suffer speed throttled which all users watch youtube with amazing speed. so before you subscribe to Yes, do make sure you choose the right plan and don't kedekut on your budget.

If you are looking for GO, try out their GSP first. which is u pay rm 100 upfront but u get 50 rebate for u to try out( 1.66gb) at least u can try how long u can serve u. if u can use it for 2 weeks, go for Super 68 which provide 4gb. if not try out Super 98 which provide u a lit bit more usage.

But just to let you know for their Products, everything are non-refundable so better try out their prepaid first

i was thinking of getting yes. just for gaming, nothing else. example bf3,mw3, dota2 etc etc.

surfing the net and all i will still continue use my home's wifi.

reason for getting this is because i want to play games without any lag. was thinking of getting zoom. but rm48 per month, meaning 1.5gb of data.

or should i get the prepaid? once used finish just top up.

any recommendations?

thanks a bunch smile.gif

just finish my qouta and max speed now is 128kbps. my package is Super68.

try doing the calculation,
Super48: RM48/1.5GB = 0.0320 cent/MB
Super68: RM68/4.0GB = 0.0170 cent/MB
Super98: RM98/6.0GB = 0.0163 cent/MB
Super168: RM168/10.0GB = 0.0168 cent/MB

Super48 is not worth to pick up, even prepaid is cheaper (not sue what ytl ppl is thinking). Super168 is little bit more expensive than Super98!!

Performance wise, not much to complain. normal speed up to 10Mbps with 3 bar connection.

If normal prepaid there is no quota. u use until your credit finished. For value pack got quota but if you still have yes credit after the VP quota you still can surf the internet. For postpaid, well, works like other telco.

Well, i'm using prepaid so there is no throttle..only you cannot surf the internet. But from my experience using from another telco like digi or celcom still can play online game even after throttle. just like i said, try first mate.

hi below is what is saw in yes prepaid plan in yes website.
http://www.yes.my/v3/personal/plans/prepaid/valuepacks.do

. once purchase valuepack not required to maintain rm30. means what? i new for yes just want find out before i use.
i heard also from a computer shop guy said for prepaid account within 6months must load some money if not line will terminated.

""Don't waste your unused credit. Add another Valuepack before your 30 days is up to enjoy an extended 30 days validity of the remaining unused data, minutes and SMS.

Once you've purchased a Valuepack, you no longer have to maintain the minimum monthly usage of RM30.""

It actually means that once u top up credit to buy VP, lets say top-up Rm70 then buy VP68, u dont have to buy Rm30 for maintain your account for that month.unless u just use normal prepaid then u need to maintain top-up rm30 per month AND the credit is accumulative which means all the remain balance will carried forward to next month, still you need to pay rm30 to remain active. Example, april buy VP68, no need rm30 for maintain, may use normal, need top up rm30 then have balance rm10 carried forward to june, need to top-up rm30 also.

is that mean i top up rm30 to active the line but i don't used, when come to the june i top up rm100 to buy v68 then my remaining will be rm62 because previous month rm30 carried forward when top up rm100 before cut off top up date. am i right?

actually depend on your billing cycle.if bill cycle start 15 apr yeah then by may14, you need to use at least $30 otherwise for example u use $25, so yes will cut extra $5 from your credit/rebate to meet the min usage requirement

Hi guys, i want to ask currently im tmp staying with my relative, her house already internet enabled(streamyx 1mb). But im quite frustrated with her line due to certain reason, the streamyx line drop every 5 or 10 mins, then need to reset the modem. And 1 of my wife sister if suxing all the bandwidth because she like to watch those kimchi program in youtube, and she not open just 1, but atleast 5 and above then let it buffer.

I'm hardcore multiplayer gamer. And diablo 3 is just around the corner. I want to make sure that my internet is not interrupt during gaming, can this "yes go" help me?I'm looking at the prepaid package. I will cancel the line once my new house is renovated and install VIP10.

Is this yes go dongle stable? How about raining? Still persist good speed?

Currently Yes 4G already release the new device, Yes 4G Eclipse and Huddle XS

http://www.lowyat.net/v2/index.php?option=...d=6719&Itemid=1
http://www.lowyat.net/v2/index.php?option=...d=6724&Itemid=1

IMOH, this two device it is not worth for money.

Yes 4G Eclipse
Old hardware and old android version, it is too late the YES to strike the Eclipse out in the market.

Yes Huddle XS
Battery is bulid in. While Yes Huddle can take out the battery and can on it while plug in the charger, it save battery life time.

MY place receive full signal. When i started using P1 a long time ago(when they newly stated) the line indoor is very bad. All you have to do is go to any computer shop, even at giant, tesco, parkson and jusco sell the USB extension cable.

What u mean with depend on area? Is it mean if my place is newly coverage that the speed after quota will much faster as other place?
And then
Is it the speed after quota for yes 4g for normal only can reach 128k or this just the minimal speed?

i got 150kbps DL & 148kbps UL after exhausting my quota. at my site ofice with 5 full bars. the 2Mbps claim was speculative. i was told by salesman. their objective to get everyone to sign up.

since 2Mbps widely discussed about. it may be possibly true to some. YES themselves are aware of it. the tech team might have done some tweaking. because they are reading this forum too.

but coverage at Wangsa Maju sucks big time frequent disconnect. although under coverage. I already have genuine case with them. they have to do something it.

Last time I use YES to send Words document. (attach the document in email and send)
The Words document contain some bitmaped graphics (.jpeg and .png picture inserted into Words document)

The problem is I am unable to send out the document. (am using gmail)
The sending process simply hang there.

Then I try to send the email by using U mobile and I am able to send out the Words document.

If you get the ZOOM, remember to set the wifi security password - whether you want to use the wifi function or not you have to put in a password.

This is very important because in the modem setup wizard,
It does not has a step for you to turn off the wifi.
It has a step for you to turn off SSID broadcast but that does not means it turn off the wifi function !

I made this mistake before - turn off SSID broadcast but did not set security password.....and the modem's wifi is still on....for one whole year doh.gif

not sure about the other YES 4g modem, but the Huddle hv a flaw. like I place the huddle behind 2 walls the signal turn from green to red, mean the signal cannot pass 2 wall (inside house) not shopping mall.

Yes, and I meant both, the sign from YES to the Zoom/Huddle and the signal from Zoom to our device.

For Signal from YES, the better reception is near the windows, better at the wondows that faces the YES antenna.

And if 512Kbps sure I will sign up.

well these is no such thing like 512Kbps. unlimited data means boleh use at 128Kbps once quota breached.

i am using YES Zoom we assume it's best near windows. i practically tried but signal keeps blinking cannot get line. you need to position all possible avenue for best spots. for my case at wangsa maju. i cannot get a decent signal. lastly i only get 1 bar with 2Mbps speed but sometimes disconnect... cry.gif cry.gif

i had log case to YES support and perform all required action. the network support team called me. my issue is beyond help. although the area is under coverage. they told me sales team will never tell you. this is one common problem by apartments & hise rise. YES they do not warranty this on their coverage map. so for new users wanna sign up. please read this very extremely carefully.

im staying at the highrise & had the same problem too (similiar to Celcom & maxis). at 16 Floor, Signal was marginal, & frequent disconnect especially at noon. ...after repeated complains, they actually improved the signal ration from 1 bar to 3-4 bars, which is far far much better than Celcom & maxis can offer. i guess they recently put up extra base station to compliment the highrise matters. Using YES for 2 years, current package VP68.

The near windows is just a guidline, after that still need to search for a better spot.
I place my Zoom at the room facing the back of my house. I can get 2 bars if jusr place near the windows but, I can get 4 bars by placing it above the windows, secured it with a rack.

so walk around your house find a switch spot.

thanks for advice. i did that already & manage to get connected. however the disconnection less frequent than before. at first it was horrible signal LED keeps blinking.

however i responded back to YES Support. hopefully they do something.

As per discussion on Fri 31 May 2012. You had checked there are no fault at transmission tower covering Wangsa Maju Sek 2. However I still get 1 bar signal. Which can speed up around 1Mbps. Although i manage to find sweet spot for my modem. but the disconnection is less frequent but disrupting at times.

Basically I do hope YES improvise the coverage at Wangsa Maju. Because your Tan Sri YTL came to TARC (Universiti TAR) to promote your product and services. With such kinda unacceptable service quality interm of coverage. Who is in the right mind to sign up. Many ppl around my neighbourhood are curious on the matter. We knew YTL Comm coverage got good media coverage & awards. But please bear in mind words of mouth do carries weight. I believe you are accountable & answerable to your investors too. That will impact the staff increment & bonus for the group.

as consumers we need to stand up to our rights. they told me is under coverage. because i been asking questions many times before signup.

Added on June 7, 2012, 7:36 pmi got a call back from Yes support team. they told me the tower is by menara kauser sek 1 wangsa maju. which is to say it's downhill further from metroview wangsa maju & desa setapak. since wangsa maju is way very high up the mountain above all else. there is very limited coverage to marginal. besides when a transmission tower was constructed. it will always has to be higher than the targeted receipant. but wangsa maju sek 2 & 4 way much up higher ground.

however i believe they noted about the issue. if YES is going to Wangsa Maju. i believe Wimax P1 will follow suit too.

among these 2. for consistancy is surely YES the choice.

becareful if you opt YES on coverage. in event u tried everything cannot get signal. you are to donate money to YES till your contract end. the conditions are harsh & very non user friendly. i tell you because i KENA.

If you use super68 purely for online gaming then its ok, in fact Yes4G has very good ping for gaming. Remember that the response time (ping) is the main factor for online gaming, not the data transfer rate.

Its good enough, as long as the ping is under 100ms. FYI Unifi/Maxis FTTH is around 10+ and streamyx is around 15~40ms, depends on the location.

Hi, I planned to take up the new Super 168 (10GB) but have few concerns and not sure the plan will enough to cover my usage, hope you guys can give some advices:-
1. For work (Outlook and VPN to Office Network) - mainly
2. Would love to have watch 1 stream football match every Sat (Max. 2 hours) (BPL coming next month, my house no Astro tongue.gif) - would love to
3. Not a heavy downloader, maybe some movies? - optional
4. Social site - FB only (not a heavy user - just browsing)
5. Normal surfing - LYN, Football news, Newspaper

Understand if I stream/downloads, I will most probably donate the money and quota back to YTL so need some advices here... thanks in advanced

My advise is, if the purpose for light surfing like email, fb etc..no problem at all. But if for streaming or movies trust me the quota is not enough.

Check your coverage here: http://www.yes.my/v3/coverage-check.do

U stream a lot? Really that much? Better get wired broadband like streamyx/unifi. Play online games wont consume much bandwidth.

Not sure if this is the thread for my question but I just signed up for super48, watched a bit of YouTube (maybe 4 vids?) did mostly surfing, and I got a message after 3 days of usage that I reached 100% of my quota. I didn't download any large files or stream that many videos! I wouldn't consider it heavy usage at all.

Anyone here experience anything similar?

Hi, I'm an outstation student currently in Ipoh.
Will Super 48 (1.5 GB quota) be enough for me?
I usually surf the net (most of the time from 1900 till 0000 hours daily), ~15 mins YouTubing everyday, and Skype for approx. 1 hour once every 2-3 days.
Or should I go for Super 68 (4 GB quota)?

Just signed a RM48 package. Need some help here, is there anywhere that I can track the data usage instead of login in the the account page. ?
Besides, how do you know the exact amount of data 1GB in each month since I noticed that the usage summary is only showing balance of the data usage.
