QUOTE(NOX @ Oct 2 2012, 03:20 PM)
Calling for savvy 2005 (early batch), please go change you effected rear spindle..
i myself once go to proton ask bout replacement on recall program but due to time constraint i delay it til 2011 which later on i regret cause program ended.. that time i think just bearing problem so change to new one.. up til 2012 sept, it is ok.. suddenly strange noise appear from rear wheel.. suspect brake drum.. service it twice.. still noisy.. then..

just recently, my lil brother in law drive the car and it end up overheat and funny smell.. the next two day he go to a tyre shop and ask the shop bout the strange noise and smell, halfway during testdrive to diagnose the smell n noise, sh*t happen.. rear wheel got disengaged..

end up tow, change spindle, bearing, brek etc related to rear wheel cost near rm1k..

so anyone that driving 2005 early batch car, please check your car at proton service centre or reliable shop, check did the spindle already been changed on proton re-call program or not..

something like my lil bro experience is not good for our heart and pocket.. well might end up accident and risk your life..

gosh, we sometimes did 160kmh on that car.. thank god it did not happen during speeding..

I am driving the 2005 model, bought in May 2008. Recently there has been a high pitch sound together with a spinning screeching sound as I brake. Is that sound what you're refering to? from the rear drum?

I have been trying to find out where that sound came from.

Bro, would you mind provide some pictures on the damage part and explain? Despite my car was registered in 2006, but lately I had bad bearings and both rear brake cylinder was jammed. I'd like to check on my car as well, although not related in the ring of high risk. Million thanks notworthy.gif

hi guys n gals,

just wanna share my experience with my savvy manual hi-line.
was driving along jln duta heading towards the toll , and the left rear wheel/ tyre COMPLETELY detached!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif
luckily did not hit anything and no one hit me! imagine its a bit like what u see when an f1 car loses a wheel!
skidding on the ground on 3 wheels..............
anyway managed to stop eventually by the roadside.
so shocked that i forgot to try and find the wayward wheel/tyre.
got a tow truck to tow to workshop; ended replacing all 4 rims with 2 nd hand ones, a new tyre! and also the rear hub / spindle etc. sighhhhhhhhhhh
i will post a pic soon as i can.
BTW, my car was sent to the Mutiara damansara sc for a check up when proton issued the recall.
Just wondering what i can do....... write to the Star ? complain consumer affairs tribunal?

I just managed to stick the front grill today. Sticked the bonnet yesterday.  rclxms.gif

All was D.I.Y. Front grill took 2 hours (alone), and bonnet was 2 hours (4 people).

How does it look?

The photo you took the part that was detached and dropping was the rear brake shoe. Is it because the brake pump jam?
(a working and functional brake pump should be able to go back to the original position when it is being pressed)

below is a picture of my rear brake shoe and pump before changing. After changing, not much sound. but still got sound, think I have to change the brake pump for my other side so there won't be any more screeching sound when braking. What do you think?

all three are good for savvy..

all got pro and cons..

renaultech (subang)
- good = good repair and faster,
-bad = expensive compare to other two.

RSauto (shah alam)
- good = cheap and advice if no need change, previously work at renaultech..
- bad = less worker, slow work and lotsa car.

Dell cun auto (osman baba) KLANG
- good = both of above,
- bad = quite far.. sometimes busy (need to call before come)..

*end up depend on location, time and pocket.

kereta sakit mesti cari doctor pakar bukan cari setengah masak doctor.
hmm.gif
doctor pakar charge tinggi sekali sahaja tak perlu pergi kedua kali. no waste petrol and time
doctor setengah masak charge rendah tapi perlu pergi kedua kali atau ketiga kali atau kali-kali. waste petrol and time.
