Hey guys, I would like to ask how do I update my wife's iPhone 4 which is running on iOS 4.1 (baseband version 02.10.04) to iOS 5.0.1 instead of 5.1?

The reason being is I would like to have an untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5.0.1 like what I've done for my own iPhone 4 last month.

Anyone care to share with me on this? I've downloaded the IPSW for 5.0.1 but can't seem to be able to restore it in my iTunes for my wife's phone. It pops up an error 3194. Tried for few times still the same error.

You cannot restore to 5.0.1 if you do not have the SHSH for 5.0.1 saved either in Cydia or TinyUmbrella. In fact, you would have to use the latest version of tinyumbrella to save 5.0.1 SHSH as it wills also save an APTicket which is required for a restore/downgrade/upgrade to 5.0.1

the iPhone 4 can be jailbroken tethered on 5.1 and that is one option. iOS 5.1 has been jailbroken untethered by i0nic but he has not come up with the program to do it yet.

My recommendation is for you to upgrade to 5.1 and jailbreak it tethered OR

Download the latest TinyUmbrella and save the 5.1 SHSH just in case Apple comes out with 5.2 to stop all these exploits that have been discovered by the dev team.

I just updated my iPhone 4 manually using iTunes to 5.1 . Unexpectedly, my jailbreak apps is still there, Lolwut ?

If your wife 4.1 already jailbreak, Cydia maybe already safe your shsh.. Check with tiny umbrella, choose advanced tab and mark on get shsh from cydia..after that click save shsh button.. If cydia already save your shsh proceed with ifaith.. Google your self and goodluck

hi peeps,

after upgrading to ios 5.0.1 and jb-ed it , thought everything was fine.
but then shortly after , my signal bar is stucked at a random number of bars,
situation is :

I call = i cant listen to anything ; the receiving phone will ring ; receiver answer and cant hear me . I still cant listen to anything .

people call me = my phone doesnt ring ; ppl calling me thought i didnt pick up my phone .

i have rebooted countless times , hard reboot/reboot/respring.
my signal bar will be stuck at a random number of bars or it just shows no service.

so my fren suggested to reset all, and it did the trick and my phone is normal again , until i reboot and the problem came back.

i have reset all many times and sometimes it works , sometime it doesnt.

I think reset all will be my temporary solution until 5.1 gets the untethered jb .
