help needed here.

recently i have gotten an iPhone 4(from credit card giveaway), anyway i have upgraded the iPhone to iOS 5.0.1 via iTunes and jailbroken it with redsnow.

The problem is, the phone is not showing any phone signal. and when i google problem, i found that I'm on the infamous baseband 4.11.08.

my question is can the baseband be downgraded ? and is this situation reversible ?

May i ask what problem with the baseband 4.11.08? Coz im also same baseband num and j/bed but dint encounter any phone signal problem

oh really ? is your phone locked or unlocked when you first purchased it ? is it under any service provider like digi celcom or maxis ?

the problem with mine is when put the sim card in, there's no signal whatsoever. it says there "NO SERVICE" no matter how many times i restarted the phone.

tried ultrasnow. didn't work too.

phone come with unlocked and I bought it from digi center. I just j/b my phone yesterday nite n after j/b it prompt out "NO SERVICE" sometimes. I guess mayb is my location problem so I jus ignore it n the next day the prob solved automatically

Is there any need to change the SSH password if I don't install OpenSSH?

how do i confirm the phone is in dfu mode?

if u didnt install OpenSSH (OFF by default) u dont need to change SSH password.

is it A must to switch of the phone for the jailbreak b4 dfu mode?

YES if u follow redsnow instruction. The phone must be plugged into the computer and OFF.

Then only proceed to run the JB. U need to go into dfu mode and first message u see in redsnow is "exploiting with limera1n"

You can do dfu from power on or off mode.

It doesnt matter, as long you in dfu mode then you can jailbreak or restore phone.

Baseband cannot be downgraded. Factory unlocked iPhone on 4.11.08 will not have any problem with upgrading or changing to any simcard. Restore your iPhone 4 to factory settings via iTunes and see if you still have the no service issue. If it still have the no service issue, then the credit card draw gave you a lemon because it's a locked set. Why would they give you a locked set? We're they expecting you to use service providers other than Maxis/Digi/Celcom?

So that means preserving baseband is totally not needed if we buy from digi/celcom/maxis?

How can I upgrade my baseband if I already jb my phone? Restore then jailbreak again?

Will it solve my 1-bar-issue?

If you are having signal problems and you are using a factory unlocked set, then just go ahead and do a fresh restore to 5.0.1 using the Shift + restore method (download the firmware for your iPhone first -- Link can be found in Post #1) and then jailbreak. The baseband should be upgraded to the latest version.

can't seem to update, at least not from cydia, it keeps telling to do it manually haha
dammit, now need to go search for how to do it manually

why does it get stuck at "exploiting with limera1n"!!!!!!!!!everytime same prob!!left 2 bar to load finish but gets stuck!!!i shudn release my finger frm the home button until the exploiting finish izzit??sifus!!!!!!!please help!!
