azraeil, can you put up the baseband version for each of the ios version and phone model. so those not sure about baseband can refer to the list here.

some ios still use the same baseband.

get the latest tinyumbrella, your SHSH for ios5.0.1 should be 9A406.

For now u could wait for new unlock "very long" or wait gevey sim "expensive".

Total spending for gevey sim + lock set = possible get new unlock set.

as long your phone price is low then can consider gevey sim, if those buy from local store (markup price, lock set) then sure expensive.

wont hurt to try. since both also 5.0.1, can try using the old build to see if the baseband can be revert to 01.0.13

if apple still sign both the ios build, you might be able to sign the old build baseband as well.

for now just save your shsh and wait for sn0wbreeze to release new tools that support cooking custom 4S IPSW for 5.0.1 to perserve your baseband.

azraeil how long the whole process of jailbreaking?

this new tools no DFU required? more of like Spirit (userland)?

now waiting for windows version. please update with any issue.

the tools should be not perfect yet. hope not much major issue smile.gif

5-7min that is very slow... Is it downloading the ipsw?

Maybe there is workaround and can do offline, like greenpois0n last time.

If the exploit use backup and restore method, then the time to finish the jailbreak depends on how many data to backup and restore. Better do it kosong and make sure the device has sufficient storage space.

Check first page Please....

If your phone is old ios maybe can unlock depends On baseband and you cant select the baseband you want to upgrade. You need to have shsh saved previously to upgrade to unsign ios by apple.

Please check your firmware and baseband first.

Always try with local sim to see if the unit is unlock or lock first.

Use sn0wbreeze to get a custom cook ipsw. Please save shsh for ios3.1.3 with ifaith and tinyumbrella for latest ios5.0.1

Custom cook ur ipsw with latest shsh, u dont need to upgrade to save shsh. Then use sn0wbreeze to stitch the shsh to the custom coook ipsw... This will preserved baseband. Never ever use ipad baseband since you still have unlockable baseband.

preserving baseband even on official unlock is good if you want to roll back. old ios may not support new baseband when you roll back. stuck in new ios that slow down your phone is painfull.

You can do dfu from power on or off mode.

It doesnt matter, as long you in dfu mode then you can jailbreak or restore phone.
