I think what joonwei23 mean/concern is related to SSH. If you don't install SSH or install SSH and change the default password then you are safe. Problem only arises if you install SSH but did not care to change the root/mobile password. People can get into the phone using that 'hole'.

Use either terminal in iphone but I always use terminal in Mac.

command:
1. ssh root@phone_ip_address i.e. ssh root@10.228.200.1
2. Enter default password = alpine
3. Once logged in, type passwd
4. It will ask you the new password
5. Once done then logout
6. Do step 1 again but change root to mobile

Hey guys got a simple question here. I've googled but I need some confirmation.

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1. If something wrong happens to my phone and I want to reset and restore it, can I restore it to the factory settings using iTunes, and then restore from a previous backup later? I want to keep all my settings and cydia apps with all the apps settings and data intact.

Why my iPhone 4S sound volume cannot be changed? Under Settings > Sounds, I have tried to adjust the volume to higher about 70% but once I get out from the Sounds, then it will be changed back to 20%, I have tried to respring, restart and soft reset my iPhone but still same problem occurs, anyone has solution on this? I'm using iPhone 4S with iOS 5.0.1 Jailbroken.

terminal is only for mac. fastest way to do it would be via terminal in iPhone. I wonder how many actually change their root pass or just waiting to be 'rickroll'.

Yup ... restoring from backup will restore your settings, pics, contacts, msg etc but not cydia apps. For cydia, look for pkgbackup, that should backup and restore your cydia apps, repo and settings.

Use winscp or PuTTY or any ssh/telnet client.

I think nowadays not many will install OpenSSH in Cydia since many will use ifunbox. It was famous last time before all this ifunbox, ifile and other easy iphone file manager. The easiest way would be to turn off SSH within sbsettings if they don't know how to change password.

Make sure you download the latest iPhone 4 firmware, not the iPhone 4s.

Make sure also you download the latest redsn0w.
