QUOTE(Scolaris @ Oct 12 2012, 05:14 AM) Performance This is indicating they have poor routing/bandwidth to the oversea connection, so you get good speed only on local connection like TIME's speed test and torrent when there are seeds/peers in the same or nearby countries. As stated earlier, I took the 8Mbps package, which means in theory, I can download (and upload) at a maximum rate of 1MB/s (1 byte = 8 bits mah). Speedtest This is where it gets weird. Using TIME's own speed test app in their website, and also using the speedtest.net page, I'm getting 8Mbps/16Mbps (Malaysian server). The 8Mbps is fine, but I can upload at twice the maximum speed? Well, more speed = more awesome, so yay. At speedtest.net, I then chose a US server (a random one, I think it's in Syracuse), and the speed dropped significantly (forgot the exact figure, it may be 200kbps, or 2Mbps?), and the ping shot up to +200ms. Not good... Torrent But here, speed tests are useless; it's fine in theory, but what about practical usage of broadband? To try that out, I started to torrent two things - a recent anime release from TT, and also a game (for "research" purposes.. heh heh). The anime is 300MB in size, the game 12GB. I am happy to report that for both, I'm getting speeds close to (and in moments, reaching) the theoretical maximum - 1MB/s. YAY! IRC I only tested it once, and I'm only getting 500KB/s. Now, it may be due to the user I'm leeching rather than my connection though, so bear that in mind. This post has been edited by CloudComputer: Oct 16 2012, 10:01 PM |

Basically useless for those which are not staying in apartment/condo, as from time site availability search, only meant for those high rise building.

QUOTE(Scolaris @ Oct 16 2012, 05:34 AM) I have a question: how do you setup your telephone? Hi Scolaris,During the installation, it wasn't done since my extension plug got a defect and I don't have a spare. So now I do, and I have no idea how to turn on the phone. I can't get a dial tone or anything, and the phone display just shows "Base 1". Incidentally, I have: a. connected the telephone wire to the ONU, b. connected the phone to the power supply, and c. turned off and on again the entire thing (ONU, phone and modem) But still getting zilch. Is phone service even included in the package? I think it does, because otherwise why give me a phone to begin with? We r not able to use the phone yet. The technician told me dat he will contact me next week to set up the telephone. Guess they have not configure the voip in ONU yet. |

Guess they have not configure the voip in ONU yet. Pls check whether the VOIP light is on ? It must b ON in order for yr phone to work. If it's ON, then connect the phone line to TEL 1 port at the back of the ONU. I believe yr subscription is Internet only without astro right ? If so, the Installer shld hv done it on the day of installation. For IPTV voice it take vry much longer time as you need to wait for TIME to remote configure for you. Hey guys, i have intention to apply for Fibre Home Connection. I have checked coverage on official web but how accurate is that ?
As the place is in PJ, Sungai Way to be exact. It does not show availbility how sad? The entrance to the condo itself has a Time Fibre Connection warehouse. Are there any time agent or staff here can help me with ? If coverage is confirmed i am certainly applying. Location : Park 51 Residency (condo), Sg Way, Seri Setia, PJ, Selangor |

I did not find any VOIP light in the ONU. I got 2 light constantly on which are Power and PON. Another 1 light is blinking which is LAN1. LAN2 - LAN4 no light cause no cable plug into that port. LOS also no light. Tel1 and Tel2 also no light cause i didnt plug the phone in. |

QUOTE(KAHAK @ Oct 17 2012, 04:48 PM) 100MB FOR RM179,BUT LIMITED COVERAGE NOT WHOLE MALAYSIA ...can some tell what's wrong with this picture!!!(coverage so low) this is because Time install their own cable. TM won the contract for HSBB a few years back. If Time wants to maximise their coverage, they can do it like Maxis and use TM's infra. but there is a pro and cons to it. it is very unlikely for Time to maintain their unlimited bandwith usage should they go for this method.and the cost of laying the cable is pretty high, which is why they target dense area like high rise buildings and the likes. Which would ensure that they can maintain their current price and the unlimited bandwith. hope this'll clarify some stuff! p/s: i have no information on how Time really operates, and their business decision, but this is the explanation that i could think of.
