thanks man, previously i asked in RC FB group...
there people really roasted me for having a low budget  cry.gif

Oh! i think you mixed up with that 'high status group' but most of group of R/C enthusiast todays trend treat people like that if you don't have branded trendy expensive R/C models you'll get left out similar to acronym of having proton car but wanted to join race club with honda civic. Ironically based on my experience those kind of group won't last long in their hobby because they will spend more until broke to justify their hobby. doh.gif By today manufacturing standard all R/C models at budget range can have a very good quality build and performance. All my R/C models are under RM$500 using cheap radio and after many years become very successful well known model to grace in community despite being cheap...its all about how creative you mods it. Cheap mods = fun!

Yes, they are all actually the same base chassis with different top body shell or tubing hence which is why their based numbering is 10428. Anyways WL-TOYS 10428 actually is the came copy from branded VATERRA TWIN HAMMER. Btw here's my written article review about 10428 at my blog: https://www.supermotoxl.com/projects-articl...-scale-4wd.html

guys, i'm a total newbie to RC

is there any RC car <RM500 that you will recommend for a newbie?

or really must spend >RM1k to start a hobby?
*
Yah I'd recommend a WLtoys A979 with a few minor upgrades after a while to get up on your skills.

Base model RTR is less than RM200 add some alloy parts, metal bearings, bottom plate, suspension, metal pinion etc RM300-400 you can have a really nice car.

HSP 1/10 scale not bad too. Brushed version buggy or monster truck for offroad. Optional upgrades are bearings for the wheels, metal caster blocks & hub carriers. The brushless version usually >RM500 but it also come with bearings. Both versions come with metal diff gears & bearings in it. Only on the wheels is different (bushing vs. bearing in the hub carriers).

That is just a toy. No servo, meaning no proportional stearing. Just for kids, not big boys.

Yah HBX 12815 also not bad, with interchangeable parts. You should try and buy something above toy grade or it won't really be fun.

Finally got around to finishing editing it haha, was learning Adobe Premiere Pro...

Super fun build, I recommend it!

Great build on your Lunchbox, glad to see your son also interested into R/C building too. I've never install bearings yet since all my Tamiyas still on stock bushings, just keeping my budget on low side. You should next make video of your Lunchbox does cool bashing and jumping around at beach and sands. flex.gif smile.gif

Almost double the price of course it's better, and it's quite a bit bigger. Depends what you're looking for.

Its a good buggy but if for the price and 1:14 scale size i'd rather buy full size 1:10 scale branded buggy for the same price like the TAMIYA DT-03 NEO FIGHTER. I have a 1:14 size buggy at its was kinda akward size to join serious R/C crowds even for bashing especially looking for the right spare parts like tires and etc.
