The performance bottlenecks are clear when benchmarked. But usually not very visible on normal operations like booting or running programs.

The V4 sounds good on paper, but there's only one problem: the price, at least for now.

You see, Newegg, Amazon, Tiger-Direct... sells the 64GB M4 for $75, and the V4 goes for $70. Now I don't know about you, I think that extra $5 is a lot more justified in getting a Marvell controller than a Phison controller (traditionally, Phison is pretty slow in 4k performance).

Same goes for the 128GB and 256GB prices, they differ in less than $10.
So unless the major retailers gives out weekly cut prices of the V4 of over 20% (which I think will happen sooner rather than later), then I think M4 is a better buy for now at least.

The Phison controller's lacklustre random performance makes it undesirable for me. It will need to be significantly cheaper to even start being acceptable in my opinion.

True, exactly.
So here's hoping the final street price for the V4 is at least 20% lower than the MSRP, only then I think it is a good valueble option.
