Also, no point to update, cos if u take ur UNITS HELD x NAV now, it does not reflect your holdings value at all. Might as well freeze the NAV until distribution payment/crediting date. nod.gif

apples (reits) and carrots (normal stocks) leh

REITs are forced to payout >=90% profits (pls correct if this has changed) as dividends
VS
Stocks (exREITs) are not forced and thus, main profits from them are the growth and hopefully market price, which are unaccessable until U harvest and sell

Would one buy a drill to hammer in a nail
OR a hammer to chop down a tree? tongue.gif
Sorry ar - it's just so obvious which is better - it DEPENDS on your objective notworthy.gif
If one's objectives and timeline ALSO not clear, better re-plan your investment approach / strategies.

dagnabit.. Fundsupermart thread/topic?!! doh.gif

Planning to switch all my OSKUOB funds (now buying through UOB bank) to Fundsupermart. Will consider that after I made my first switching in the OSKUOB fund (which is FOC for first 2 switches). After that, they will charge sales charge 3% when do switching..

Mine still holding on at 2%+ sweat.gif

Equities still going strong...though showing a bit running out of steam...tomorrow another drop for EM bonds I foresee...cos Brazilian bonds going down doh.gif

Dunno why I've this feeling that this scenario could also happen to AmAsia Pacific REITs which went up 20% in just 1 year sweat.gif

yesterday i meet a personal banker in UOB bank. He strongly recommended this fund [OSK-UOB ASIA CONSUMER FUND] and its strong fund manager to me. He claimed that distribution about 8%+ just given past two weeks. Anybody got the idea?

Sorry, my bad sir.
Saw yr agent/bank fellow stating "8% distribution" as an enticement and thought that was one of the major reasons U are checking that fund out notworthy.gif

The investment theme seems logical...focus on companies that could benefit from rise of consumerism in Asia. But it doesn't invest in Japanese companies...all those carmakers, Sony, Panasonic etc beyond their mandate. doh.gif

IMHO, it doesn't matter much who the fund manager is, more importantly the fund's performance for 3, 5 and 10 years - "proof of the pudding is in the eating".

Since U know where/how to search in FundSupermart, I tried searching for it in:
a. Lippers Leaders: http://www.lipperleaders.com/ = elek but found some other OSK-OUB funds
b. Morningstar: http://my.morningstar.com/ap/fundselect/results.aspx = not rated

http://my.morningstar.com/ap/quicktake/ove...ceId=0P0000NBPD
Launched 2010 ("young fund")
Trailing Returns(%)2012-08-07
YTD Return 10.42
1 Year -5.88
3 Years Annualised -
5 Years Annualised -

er.. based on morningstar's page on that fund
Front Load Fee(Max) / Redemption Fee
5.50 % / 1.00 %
There is front load AND back load/redemption fees?
