It was around 7-8%. If you guys know it was coming, probably you guys can avoid the loss. Too bad the rhb management wont tell you a single thing. The company name was tracoma i think.

balanced funds sales charge = 2%

bond funds sales charge = usu. 0% or max 1.5%
equity funds sales charge = 2%
u got RM2000, u buy RM1000 bond + RM1000 equity
your "effective" sales charge = RM1000 x 0% + RM1000 x 2% = RM20 i.e. 1% of your total invested money

get the picture?

then when bond go up, equity go down, u top up more on equity
when equity go up, bond go down, u top up more on bond
maintain the split at 50/50 at all times (if u like, u can do 40/60 or 60/40, it's all up to u) icon_idea.gif

orait enuff "lecture" for today, back to work tongue.gif

it was RHB ISLAMIC BOND FUND, that had the downfall.
Bad as it is, i was affected too, being a noobie (at that time). focusing too much on the 'attractive' yield

well, took it as a learning lesson, it has start to appreciate since (not loosing is winning already ) laugh.gif

If im not mistaken, those bond fund with greater returns normally buy bonds from company with lower credit rating. High return is to compensate the bond's risks. But as long not junk status is okay. I wonder what was tracoma credit rating back then.

usually a main holding would not be >10% of the overall portfolio...even if total write off won't be >10%

furthermore, bondholder is one of the 1st to be entitiled to the company's residual assets in the case of insolvency. Should be able to recover at least half of the bond nominal value nod.gif

in a bankrap case...1st to lay claim to a company's residual assets would be its creditors, then bondholders (or bondholders 1st? I can't remember exactly...sudah kasi balik the knowledge to my lecturer tongue.gif ), last last last sekali baru sampai the shareholders icon_idea.gif
