I able to mirror the xbmc app but the problem only happen when playing movies.

I think your iPad is still AirPlay the black screen to ATV. The problem is xbmc black out when video and mirroring running simultaneously.

Normal. Unless u can get a consistent 5mbps speed then u will able to watch hd.

you cant even get 1080p (super hd) for netflix coz it link to your ISP regardless what DNS you use. Unless u stay in USA.

1080p for netflix. u can if u use VPN service and your internet is fast enough.. problem is, the speed in malaysia are not up to the min requirement for super HD

i got unifi 20Mbps. So if i want to get HD for Netflix like my Hulu+, need to setup vpn? and not using DNS?

Hi, guys.

Lately, I've started to get interested in setting up Apple TV. Been reading through the pages in this thread although I've not completed yet. Very helpful info. Taking my time to explore in a slow and relaxed mode.

So now, I've just setup a US Apple ID account. Tested with a gift card from my sis in US. It works. Downloaded netflix and Hulu plus from AppStore. My sis has hulu plus account but I've not tried it yet. My next step would be setup the VPN and test with Hulu plus. Lastly, I would need to get the AppleTV and hdmi cable.

My sis also has ATV2 which she bought 2 years back. She used Roku instead and seldom use ATV2. So I would be getting the ATV2 if I wanted it. But I don't mind buying ATV3 for the HD stuff except I read that Apple is coming out with ATV4. So probably stick with ATV2 (not yet jb) first.

Anything I missed out? Your feedback is most appreciated. Thanks.

PS: I'm using unifi 5mbps. Speed wise seems so so only.

Jailbreak your Apple TV 2 and u won't need anything else. Forget about Apple TV 3 , 4 etc.

On Android devices, u can use AllCast to cast movies and pictures to Apple TV on the same WiFi network. Tested and confirmed working on ATV3 with Xperia Tablet Z.

Ok, just tried login to Hulu plus without VPN. It says this region not supported. Kinda expected that; but wanted to try it out anyway. Will try with VPN next.

It will depends on your offer.. A normal atv3 price won't entice ppl to sell due to the ability of atv2. Hehe.. I had to buy it from Japan last time cos Malaysia was out of stocks for atv2. Only atv3 available then..

Reason I'm using it instead of those so called free VPN is because it's stable n no distruption of service. No limitation and it not only can view us netflix but other countries too. Just select and submit.
