Coz a lot of C segment fan here compare to D segment which not everyone can afford it...
Correct... take avante x20 as an example...
*
X20 was a totally different case... X20 is just like the Sonata NF... both of them are solid cars but nothing ground breaking... That's why both of them don't sell... But Sonata YF and new Tucson have proved that brave design and loaded features are going to sell the car decently despite being priced much closer to the japanese...

K5 sales is virtually a dead fish. Tats why SD is still trying top figure out the best price for Elantra.
I believe segment C car buyers in Malaysia are more sensitive with price and resale value compared to segment D. And I don't think many will see RM11x,xxx for Elantra 1.8 as a worth buy.
*
But I believe most people will choose Elantra 1.6 high spec... Just like the Sonata and Tucson are majority of 2.0 high spec...

Added on February 6, 2012, 3:55 pm1.6 AT standard got no push start? spec was changed?

Glad that they didn't learn from UMWT and take away all those chrome, piano black, silver trim and make it a chrome package for higher spec car... tongue.gif

Inokom only rebadge the car... The original car from Korea comes with the word Hyundai... i10 and Santa Fe also like that

yerp NAP is the root cause BUT despite it, NAZA (regardless of what trick they used), they capable to price CRUZE, FORTE, and even 308 Turbo and VTI competitively.....

Mazda 3, Ford Focus TDCi and new Citroen C4 were also price quite competitive...
NAP already in Malaysia for long time....the comp like SD need to adapt it and make way with it....simply blaming NAP not going to work out....
BTW, is there any option for buyer to get standard HU (reduce price) or original touchscreen HU (topup price) for 1.8 Premium? no offence but the proposed HU for 1.8 premium looks cheapo and didn't blend well with the rest of interior...
*
Fiesta also SD yet fully loaded also rclxms.gif
Looking forward to see the new Focus to arrive our shore...

R u sure Inokom only rebadge the car? I read in some local automobile websites & blogs and they say it is locally assembled. That's why it is a CKD, not a CBU. If it is a CBU, I don't think they will strip down the airbags from 6 to 2. And not to mention the possible downgrade version of HU.

One of the forumer mentioned in previous posting that Malaysian lives are cheap. Lol.  laugh.gif

Still, can't wait to test drive the car when it launch.
*
Rebadge not meaning ckd or cbu... just like the inspira is a rebadged lancer...

You willing to pay RM120k for the 1.8 because of extra airbag if the price for the current 1.8 spec is confirmed to be 115k?
*
I am willing to do so.. just like the sonata premium... safety is important if i get to option it....

4 extra airbag for RM5k, sounds feasible. If that 5k can potentially save me from a breaking a leg then its money well spent.
*
The 4 extra airbags are protecting your head and body during side crash... Knee airbag not available yet... biggrin.gif

Got offer of rm80k for a 2007 accord super nice condition....  Shall I wait for this or go ahead with the accord....    sweat.gif sweat.gif
*
80k is a lot cheaper than Elantra. I think the 1.6MT will definitely be more expensive than this. tongue.gif
But then 5yrs, 4AT, no ESP but a D-seg car. So the choice is quite obvious depending on your own need. If your house need a big car then maybe you can consider it. For my family Elantra will be the second car so we don't need a D-seg smile.gif

Side curtain is as important as front airbag , just don't understand why overseas unit have but come Msia gone .  Maybe  statistics shows that Malaysian side collision accidents are mostly caused by motorcyclist so not timportant tongue.gif
from the pic of the projector lamp come with oem hid can see ballast on the bottom very nice
*
Actually most countries in the world are still sticking with 2 airbags even in Japan. You may check the Japanese website and you can see that many cars are having 2 airbags only for base model. Take Estima for example, VSC and 6 airbags are only options, they only have standard 2 airbags and ABS+EBD. And many cars are getting 6-stars in JNCAP with 2 airbags without VSC.
If i were to choose between 6 airbags and VSC, i will definitely choose the latter. But got both sure better. drool.gif

The Accord already has 5-AT since the model before the 2003-2007 model. And, if you're buying a 2.4 model you have electric leather seats and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as standard.
*
Oh 5AT sorry about that. I think shud be 2.0 since it is 80k for 2007. hmm.gif

The choice is not that obvious... Those gen d seg are not really that big compare to Elantra...

The heart still with Elantra at the moment...  Lol

Added on February 7, 2012, 6:34 pm
That is a very big + point for the accord...  U won't loose much... Compare to buying new car... First year really drop like...

Buy n sell, buy n sell...  U tot buying vegetable in pasar meh....  sweat.gif
*
The length of Accord is more than 4.8m, which is about 30cm longer than Elantra. So the body is actually much bigger than Elantra smile.gif
N i think 80k is quite a bargain if the condition is real good rclxms.gif

80k is relative price la... Outside definitely x dapat... I should snap some photo of the car to show u all...  Really really new looking car...  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
Another thing I concern is fc...  For sure Elantra gonna have better fc than this car... But just donna how much better...
*
If you were planning to get 1.6AT which is rumoured to be arn 100k, you already save about 20k up front. 20k/RM1.9 = 10000+Litre of petrol... shud be enought for about 100,000km brows.gif
But then the interest rate may pull the two together closer... tongue.gif

Getting a bigger 1 coz some time fetching ppl behind, they are more comfortable...
Wat u said is true also wor...  Not interest rate btwn new n old car very big?  But maybe not affect me that much coz I only plan to take about 5 yrs loan...  Those 9 yrs is big no no for me...

Added on February 7, 2012, 7:12 pmEerr..  Hope no body flame me/us comparing this in Elantra thread...  If so, we shall stop this...  tongue.gif

in your case i would say accord as elantra launch this month waiting period might hit up 3 months. but accord u can have it right away.

drive the accord 1 year then next year get the elantra is not too late too bro. accord have tremendous 2nd hand value. i think this elantra 1.8 will hit up to 110k-120k. if u are getting the 1.6 its really underpower if u compare with accord.

triangle lamp accord quite good in FC no lie. hyundai engine will hardly beat japanese engine even the sonata now.
*
But i dun reli think the accord 2.0 will be a lot more powerful than elantra 1.6... need to factor in power to weight ratio... 1.5tonnes/2litre vs 1.25tonnes/1.6litre

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Feb 8 2012, 09:01 AM)
The overall length for the Accord is 4950mm while the wheelbase is 2800mm. If u wanna know about interior space then you should look at the wheelbase figures to get an idea. The Accord is the biggest D segment in its class and so far its closest competitor is the Kia Optima with 4845mm overall length and 2795 wheelbase.
*
ya i know about tat... but i was referring to the previous gen accord which he interested in....

Why is 1.6 n 1.8 korean car on par with price of japan made?
When I bought my Elantra X20, the salesman and even the branch manager convince to me that korean car are good price now..
Then launch Sonata, wanted to trade in for that badly..

Went back to see the branch mgr , with my 2.5 yrs old elantra , accident free 45k mileage, X20 full spec with add on accessories package except the exhaust system package...... The boss told me 45-50k max. Hahah... coincidentally I also asked other about my City Vtec which is 6 years old. still worth 50k .

Anyway, no doubt X20 is a very good ride, quiet, comfy and fast.
*
x20 was selling at less than 85k two yrs ago... thats why the whole range is affected... x20 is a competitive product but nothing groudbreaking.. same for the sonata nf... yf is a good example of how the great styling can affect the perception of people... and yf is not cheap yet it can maintain in the top50 sale chart for more than a year..

lol, even honda city with IVTEC and light weight body would not say they are any faster/better than 2.0 civic even added the power to weight ratio into the argument.

can you show some figures? smile.gif otherwise .....biggrin.gif

so.....after 110kmh.....elantra will be smoked......actually from the beginning, it will be smoked 0-75....

biggrin.gif . ok, its not a fair fight anyway.

thanks for the numbers.
*
This is the only way i can show u the point i made juz now... just for reference...
what i wanna say is that the performance of a c seg 1.6 is not far from d seg 2.0... same for 1.8 vs 2.4... due to power to weight ratio... not applicablt to forced induction engine though...

i remember i read somewhere in paultan that the ecoboost engine won't be making a debut on the focus in malaysia, at least not during launch.

anyway, the elantra GT launched today is much hotter than the focus.
*
I don't think the 2.0GDi in US will be coming too... So maybe 1.6 and 2.0 NA engine at launch.
I think Elantra GT will be coming to us also... But it will be called i30 when it arrives... rclxms.gif
