SD already postpone the elantra for god knows how many years liao
Anyway I just checked in wiki and found out that Hyundai and Kia could actually be / under the same parent company? Seems that Hyundai Motor actually bought 51% of the share of Kia motors a few years back... |

QUOTE(maverickng @ Feb 16 2012, 12:44 PM) i told my uncle and some of my family older member say i wan buy korean car... Do you really blame them? Ive said this many times before. This problem is due to the KOREANS themselves. Dont blame anybody else. Its only NOW that the Koreans are giving quality products. But do you expect 20 years of bad experience to disappear because of just 2 years of good ones?they say:are you crazy?bodoh?y buy korean car?no good la,fuel comsumption high la,no resale value la..blahh..blah... they fucuk me like hell seen that most of older generation in thier mind only T and H or conti car... dunno why!! i try explain nowday how korean car is better and better..but they never listen.. Re-education and rebranding will take years. Dont expect major changes in mentality overnight. But most importantly, dont blame the consumers. If you wanna blame anybody then blame the Koreans themselves. This post has been edited by cybermaster98: Feb 16 2012, 05:34 PM |

QUOTE(gregy @ Feb 16 2012, 12:04 PM) Please... It's not that Ah Peks only will buy D-segment, only Ah Peks can *afford* D-segment in this country thanks to you know what. If your thinking is so narrow then you will one day become an Ah Pek who drives a Camry because you think this is what Ah Peks should be driving and nothing more. Please. Don't get emotional. You obviously haven't driven an Accord or M6 have you? A tricked out D-segment is gorgeous to behold and costs a whole lot more to trick out, which the ordinary citizen cannot afford to do. Besides, D-segment is considered a normal sized family sedan in US and most parts of the developed world while C-segment is popular not because it is sporty but more so because it is an econobox and cheap to run. Please don't generalize things you obviously know nothing about. Added on February 16, 2012, 12:06 pm Nope, the previous Avante didn't have much of what is offered on the Forte including the engines, plus it looked a little funny from the front. And because SD was the company behind it I did not say people who buys those cars are Ah Pek or mentally errmm 'old'. GENERALLY/MOST OF THEM are Ah Pek mainly (like u said) the price of the car itself. The tax is too high. Without the tax, Camry is only RM80-RM90K. Then u'll see a lot of youngsters driving the car. Till then, this kind of cars will be tailor made by most manufacturers (especially Toyota) to suit 'matured' drivers. I hope u got my point. And no, I've never driven a Accord or Mazda6. I've driven R-Class tho Cheers. Added on February 16, 2012, 7:41 pm QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Feb 16 2012, 12:26 PM) I think this is a silly & over-generalised statement. Many ppl i know who drive these D segment cars are middle management corp faces. You may get some of your 'ah peks' driving but thats only because they have sufficient income to afford. But to generalise and say that most of them are such is an understatement. You too should refer to my comment above before judging my maturity level. But if it is still SILLY, then Im out of this place.Lets leave such statements out of these discussions and lets keep our threads as mature as we can. Added on February 16, 2012, 12:28 pm I think you dont understand what he meant. Its nothing about who owns what. Its about the other guy's statement which is silly and surely unwanted on this thread. If he wasnt born yesterday then he should have have refrained from making such 'yesterday' statements right? Lets get back to cars. Cheers. Yeap, as they say first impression is always most important.
Like now, take Toyota for example. Did you know that the car body frame for Toyota cars are actually manufacutred by Proton's subsidary? Yet when they compare, they always say that the current Proton cars not safe, less value when both of them actually come out from the same factory. Hyundai made the same mistake as Proton. But now, they are really different. I dare say that their products are on par with T & H cars, if not better. There's a reason why Hyundai cars have been winning car of the year award back to back in the major countries. There's also a reason why when I went to the States, the only T & H car i can see on the road are the Prius and Civic Hybrid. The rest? All Fords, Chevy and Hyundai. |
