Some dude threatened our family's small business to call his contacts in LHDN if we don't pay him.
We didn't do anything wrong so ignore him, he tipped off LHDN to come and give us problem. UMNO really really sucks. |

I received a letter from LHDN this week because i didn't declare my income for 2008. Now i am supposed to pay penalty of 20% of my income tax. That's freaking huge!
I did some research and found that only in June 2011 did LHDN announced they will increase this penalty to 20-30%. Before this, first time offenders had to pay just around $100. Shouldn't LHDN only use this new penalty rate for next year's declaration? I feel there is some sort of entrapment going on. Lets say LHDN detected that i was an offender in January 2011; rather thay notifying me straight away, they chose to wait until June when the penalty rates has been increased. I guess BN needs money for the next general election This post has been edited by payatz: Dec 31 2011, 11:30 AM |

QUOTE(DX007 @ Dec 31 2011, 09:33 AM) hi newbies here...been working part timely for more than a year....salary less than RM2.5k no need declare income tax right? thanks first If your annual income (not monthly income) is less than 2500, you are not liable for tax. But that's irrelevant, if you make any income you must file a tax return. |

ive always thought that the penalty is 3X what's outstanding. so if you're earning 10k a month and havent declared anything for the past ten years, once the auditors come in you better have a lot of savings.
workers generally have rebates from the pcb. if you dont declare, generally, its your loss. |

I hope he is prepared for fines in the tens of thousands. Lhdn is very efficient now in sending out queries.
Oh and by the way lhdn can screw you over 7 years later it's the law. You need to keep records for that long and if you fail to show you're in trouble |

True story, my friend declare tax for the 1st time. And kena fine tax from lhdn. Coz his father didn't pay tax and his father passes away or smth. Dun really know the actual story. I only know that he has to settle his dad's tax debt from selling a house or land.
And I heard that lhdn can charge ur next of kin. Is that true? |
