my colleague 31yo earning around RM8.5k he said never declare cause monthly payslip company already deduct.
so income tax people will not come looking for him. is this true?

the monthly deduction (PCB) is norml but whatever it is, you still need to declare during filing.

Why they need to chase? They already partially got the tax liao..only waiting for your fren to declare. once he declare, he will kena penalty for sure I think 15% ontop of the chargeable income. in addition to whatever rate he kena.

8,500 per annum no need to pay taxes

but 8,500 per month? man... your colleague is gonna be royally screwed by LHDN sooner or later

it's the accumalated penalties that will hurt most

never declare? your friend sure will be on trouble if get caught. LHDN will give a couple of forms to declare not for the current year but also the previous years he/she fails to declare the income tax

Few hundred ringgits kasi only lar.

you NEED and MUST declare

but you don't have to PAY

since if you include the 8,000 personal relief on the chargeable income, and further 350 rebate, you'll end up with ZERO tax

must declare one

Few hundred? If one month few hundred one year = the whole month salary ler.
Last year they took away my whole month net margin, which mean I work one month for the government.

Should find out more way to run tax.

There's many ways to get tax reliefs. Figure out all those you're entitled to.

RM8.5k every month, if already every month gaji kena potong pay to income tax, then when every year declare, usually still can take back some money

he dont want declare = kena penalty, and lose the rebate
