some speakers have internal DAC and/or amp and only require digital input into them (which a usb interface, spdif/coaxial etc can work, remember, it may not be from a pc)

judging from the mistake done in Logitech Z-Cinema, I don't think it worked out fine for USB interface.

Hello power911,
I have gone through your review. I have this speakers on my wishlist. I love dubstep, trance. I am currently using Altec Lansing VS4121BLK and edifier DA5000 pro. I seriously dont like the bass of DA 5000 pro compared to the much cheaper VS4121blk. I dont feel it that thumpy. I dont have a chance to audition s530d before buying it( have to order it online only). All I need is bass that blows my window pans out tongue.gif . Would you suggest S530 D or any other good speakers in the similar price range?

The Edifiers are not designed to be thumpy in the first place
If you do not like the DA5000PRO that means chances of you not liking the S530D would be high too

I would suggest you to get some Logitechs like Z623 (or z2300 if you can still find one)
They sucks in midrange but they provide the violent bass you need.
Or if you can fork out a little more money, the S730D is a way to go

I am not sure about the Swans speakers but in terms of bass I am sure the swans will provide you luxurious bass and not hard hitting type

Either way I'd suggest you to get a better soundcard for your DA5000PRO and if clarity bass is not enough you should EQ it by bass boosting

Thank you for your reply...
I went to the shop and luckily Z623 and one more model, T3 has been shown to me. I really liked Z623 (T3 is even more amazing but I am tight on budget). Logitech is the way to go as it is well established in our country unlike Edifier.
I am getting Z623 soon

So far only the Z2300 worked for me 'if' I change the satellites to my Sony bookshelves.

other than that most logitechs are noise.

downsides of being exposed with many high ends~ doh.gif

How is the imaging for them? Would you describe them as (nearly) holographic?
How does live recordings perform?

Thanks a lot,
Very best

holographic... umm... for S530D it's close to none in my opinion
live recordings on S530D is pretty decent. Not too far not too near depending on how your speaker is placed

but soundstage/holographic wise... quite in the face type

Z623 had a lot of soundstage... in fact it sounded like plastic haha
that's all I can say... plastic
