QUOTE(Quazacolt @ May 3 2012, 04:40 PM) that could mainly the crossover issue and/or lack of proper/good mid bass which you cant really do much about it. of course, it could be different than my case since i am using a C3 and not S530D haha yea, that's what I thought so... just playing around... thx for the advice Also, given my experience in subwoofer/audio/car speakers, stuffing your port not only steers you away further from your intended objectives, it will also almost definitely cause the problems you have mentioned yourself. so my personal advise is to remove the stuffing =edit= bolding the bottom important part too oh how I wish I could just buy some Elna caps to mess around with these Added on May 3, 2012, 9:20 pm QUOTE(skylinelover @ May 3 2012, 06:35 PM) haha congrats on the best free gift ever...4 me 2.1 is beastly enough already n so S730 is still my top choice now haha this stuff is old le... and yes I'm still happy bout it being free This post has been edited by power911: May 3 2012, 09:23 PM |

Seal the speaker up will give you good response but sacrifices low frequency response.
Better you leave it original or stick the stuffing at the woofer magnet there, the ported enclosure are calculated according to the subwoofer. Maybe you can try out replacing the interconnects first. |

point being: solve your problem, not hide it. tackle that first who knows you'll be gaining much more and wouldn't need to do something menial such as modding caps hell, if you fix it THEN mod caps, you're definitely gonna gain much better SQ, right? |

power911, have you tried the papertube extension for the port like you did with your old coby speakers? lol i recently did it to my megaworks 550 and it eliminates alot of boominess in the subwoofer. it doesnt make my subwoofer play lower than it's designed, but at least it's not extremely boomy now. or you can always try the papertube and straw method. for my smaller subwoofer, it manages to reduce more than 50% port noise for zero dollar.

QUOTE(power911 @ May 3 2012, 09:34 PM) Yup they do, just didn't simply show out to public only. The port noise is another case, that is the turbulence, but not related to the calculation. That is why you can see high end speaker has special technology like flow port in B&W speakers. That port is not a joke, really can't hear the port noise unless you put your ear besides it and running at high volume. |

it's a type of 'breathing' sound on the port opening. most evident when you turn off all the other speakers except subwoofer. as the air is travelling out from the port, the noise is produced.
some subwoofer only become noisy when hitting certain frequencies. good ported subwoofers (properly engineered) on the other hand, are unlikely to produce these kind of noise. |

QUOTE(edios88 @ Oct 1 2012, 11:49 PM) everything requires a soundcard... you can't expect a graphic card to make sound if your soundcard supports digital out (optical or coaxial) then you need not to upgrade your soundcard but if your soundcard sounds bad then you need to upgrade |

QUOTE(power911 @ Oct 2 2012, 12:48 AM) everything requires a soundcard... you can't expect a graphic card to make sound some speakers have internal DAC and/or amp and only require digital input into them (which a usb interface, spdif/coaxial etc can work, remember, it may not be from a pc)if your soundcard supports digital out (optical or coaxial) then you need not to upgrade your soundcard but if your soundcard sounds bad then you need to upgrade |
