As for me, the answer is no.

It is very common to ask for discount from your SA. We are not in the market buying fruits but we
are doing a 2nd biggest purchase besides our house. If u don't ask for discount they are smart and
pretend to keep quite or when u ask them they will give u guys excuses that this car is a brand new
hot model so no discounts. The SA will also give u reasons that the waiting list is too long therefore
no discounts at all.

I got a fren who never nego at all with the SA, even can get the SA's personal discount RM500/=.
Another fren nego and managed to get RM800/= plus free RM210 JPJ normal registration no. and
also free cheap windscreen/window tint which he opted for change of a good 3M car floor mats.
Last week I companied my MD to enquire about the new Camry and he also enquired about the
Prius C which he's not interested to purchase, the SA quickly offered us a discount of RM1000/= for
the Prius C plus few freebies which the SA never reveal to us unless we commit the purchase.

I asked my secretary to survey the discounts offer for Prius C from various showrooms nationwide.
Then I realized that regardless the main distributors or outside dealers in any states; their SA's
discounts varied and from the range of RM500/= to RM1200/= and some even throw in JPJ registration
number selection RM300 for free, free cheap windscreen/window tint (which many ppl don't want it),
free good quality floor mats, free full tank petrol on car delivery time and etc. It all depends on your
negotiation skills.

Even the same main distributor's branches or same dealer's branches; their services and professionalism
are different. Some SA is friendly and give u a good experience from day 1 to delivery of your car and
after sales services. Some SA's courtesy character change after you sign the dotted lines on the retail
customer order form.
My fren told me his UMW's SA totally change when he went back for services. Many times he told his SA
the problems on his car but his SA don't even want to listen at all and pushed him to refer to the service
technician and gave excuses that all SA cannot interfere with the service department bcos the service
personnels got no benefit from the commissions on the sales unlike the SA and don't want the SA to
interfere in their work. Come on la, don't bulls*** my fren... sales dept. and service dept. are all under
1 company. The SA can give advice to my fren or at least follow up.

Therefore u must do the survey first before u make any decisions on which showrooms and the right SA.
It is your rights to ask for discounts and other offers.

True, but in the end I'm still paying a higher fee on the car because I'm on the east and there was the shipping cost included and we did ask but the prices were basically fixed with what else they had offered. I pretty much drilled any info out of the SA for a month+ before committing but in the end there wasn't that much extras. You guys are kinda lucky. Thanks for the advice!

I hear you about the attitude change from some SA though, it's nasty when they do a total 180 - all about sales and zero customer satisfaction/support, especially those ones that like to make excuses. Luckily I've managed to avoid that kind of situation, but I've heard bad stories from friends and some family members.

As for anyone else, you guys should take his advice to :> thanks again!

I don't know about your situation there but in west most of the showrooms at least offered RM500/= discounts without asking them and if u know the SA or ask for discount, u can get more for the Prius C. Maybe here got more competitions. No choice if got no discounts in your region but at least he must give you good after sales service.

My fren in Kota Kinabalu never ask for any discount when he got his Prius 1.8, so his SA kept quite. Worst still his SA there is calculative on everything single thing and poor knowledge on Hybrid Synergy Drive. Even the simple bluetooth voice command control function, his SA hv to wait for the SA manager and service technician for help.
Now in the west the discounts for Prius 1.8 is RM1,000/= to RM2,000/= and plus freebies.

Shit man. Too bad i had also sign up for loan too. But he promise me early delivery. Hopefully he kept his promise. Anyway, i had also check with sa in regards to changing cd player, speakers and additional woofer. They told me that would void whole warranty. Any advice?

Cos i sound system to me is important. At least a decent set of alpine speaker and a flat under seat woofer just to have a beautiful sound. I also plan to change to a bigger rim. Will that really void the warranty? Cos i gonna place booking and order for all that so that when my car reach i can change it immediately.

Seem you have good bargaining power then most of us & able to force or threaten Toyota SA to give you better offer & better service.

My story, I went to Tmn Midah, Cheras showroom last time, don't even have one single SA entertain me & my father. So action.. treat us as invisible. (Few my friends also treat as same)

So what can you do? Shout in the showroom to get attention? or call their manger complain the rude service their having? Or report to media & let the public know Toyota service suck?

Or the best one, all the LYN forumer reading here, we cancel all our booking, boycott Toyota forever?
Go support our poor national car? (even the car quality suck) Let Toyota disappear in the land of Malaysia?

Tell me what will you really will do?? (Probably you are big boss or with some title can ask more, but we just a small civilian)

Rather keep complaining & shout like a monkey, most of us just walk away the goto those small humble showroom which give better attention, service & discount.

If you know Potter's Competitive Model, now the situation is supplier bargaining power is powerful then customer bargaining power.

I can attest to that, many employ the "don't ask don't get" tactic (I guess it really depends on the individuals morals/mindset) - alot of the questions I threw at a few SA's here they couldn't even answer when I tested them. I also asked back in early feb at umw and they told me the personnel hasn't been trained yet for servicing (not surprising since it's new I guess). I hope they are quick learners lol.

On another note, those that are curious and don't already have these can check it out:

Haha, yesterday afternoon around 2pm my brother called me and told me he saw a red one too, could've been the same one you saw (or just a coincidence), he said that was the first one he saw on the road so far.

Most of the SA will 180 change after u sign on the dotted lines, thrfore must beware. I kena before from my previous SA but after lectured him, he changed back like the China Face Changing Art. Luckily this time my SA is still ok.
Now u still can request fr ur SA, not too late until delivery time.

No need to force, complain or threaten, it's simple; just walk away & go survey few more UMW showrooms or dealers then u will find out the facts & different offers. Some really crazy offers that will surprise u.

If your regular showroom or your regular SA don't give good offer & good after sales service then go to others. There is always plenty of other showrooms & SA eagerly waiting for sales.
