the impression i gather here in this thread is.....prius c and prius sucks because they are not full hybrid tongue.gif and UMW makes a lot of money, so should buy competitor laugh.gif
*
Those ppl said prius is not full hybrid & vmad.gif bash the brand, pls get your facts right first. Don't make a statement without any truth & knowlegde on hybrids. Both brand Toyota's HSD system & Honda's IMA system is good thumbup.gif hybrid & both are doing their CSR part to the world environment. Toyota's hybrid got an advantage bcos of their HSD system notworthy.gif . CO2 emissions for Prius 89g/km, Prius C 91g, new facelifted Insight 96g & the upcoming Jazz Hybrid is 104g/km. Proven fuel consumption is both "Prii return better mileage rclxms.gif than both Hondas. I've test drive extensively both Prius & Insight. So next time when u wanna bash vmad.gif , pls get your facts right & test drive the cars first, plzzz... hmm.gif Attached Image Attached Image

i must tell you that, there are opinions here saying, cannot trust the comment unless you driven 5000km.

so, that needs a lot of test drives i must say.
*
Yes u r right, I didn't squeeze much out of d younger Prius but driven the elder Prius more than 27,000km. Tested my frens Insight for long journeys & its comfort, handling result is quite impressive but still lack the acceleration power of d 1.8 Prius. Insight's passenger & cargo space is smaller than 1.8 Prius. Lets us wait for d launching of Jazz Hybrid, go test drive it (provided d salesman sweat.gif must be ur buddy to let u squeeze rclxub.gif the car to get d results) & then we just do a comparison on d new Jazz Hybrid with Prius C.

You're welcome. Hope it helps smile.gif
*
Good job.. cloud3z, u hv tested both hybrids & gave a review.
Yes u r right, Prius C not only better than Jazz Hybrid but also the Insight. That means the elder Prius 1.8 no need to compete
with both Honda, just Prius C will do & can compete both Honda hybrids.
I've tested all four hybrids Prius 1.8, Prius C, Insight & Jazz Hybrid on all aspects. My verdict is both Prius wins & notworthy.gif conquered
the hybrid segments.
So those guys always bash both Prius or bash either brand please go test drive it first before making any comments.

Oh Yah, I forgot the sales tax.  So we are probably paying RM15k more for the Prius C.  Another thing to take note is that the Prius C at USD23,990 is a very expensive for a compact car which is more towards the high end compact car.

In the end, Hybrid still cost a hefty premium and one must decided whether the premium is worthwhile.
*
After minus the sales tax... for imported CBU cars we rakyat still need to pay extra for the APs(Approved Permits):
Without taxes Prius C will be selling at RM91,968 Prius 1.8-RM132,463 Jazz Hybrid -RM86,342 & Insight -RM89,264.
We have to pay extra $ for AP:- Prius C is RM22k, Prius 1.8 -RM43-45k, Jazz Hybrid -RM20k & Insight -estmd RM21k.

We cannot compare with the US Prius C USD23k bcos it's a higher range specifications with extra features than our M'sian specs.
Their 6 extra features:- SofTex trimmed heated front seat, 9 airbags(ours 7), Daytime running lights, Vehicle proximity notification system,
Bluetooth handfree with Voice command control on steering wheel(ours is optional RM2,990 but without the voice command control on
steering wheel just like the Prius 1.8) & the TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System which is a cool features.

We rakyat are paying extra for nothing to feed the greedy AP cronies rice bowls. That's why the government keep on delaying the abolishment of the APs. I presume the coming NAP3 (National Automotive Policy 3) is also hopeless bcos they will also favor Proton/Perodua & AP cronies. How many times has it been delayed & will the termination of APs be pushed back to 2020? In this region's automotive industry, we lose out to Thailand the Detroit of Asean & also Indonesia automotive sector is growing strongly.

Hybrids tax exemptions will be ending 2013 & this is insufficient to grow the hybrid segment.(possibilities of policy ppl may not extend it due to Proton might be pushing out their own hybrid line).

In the end, APs, outdated technology, inferior qualities; We rakyat are force to swallow this bitter pills same like rakyat forced to accept Lynas,
unless we rakyat.. flex.gif

I just confirm with my SA. Need to wait 6 months for it. Got the Orange with DVD unit ^^ . Anyone realise the reverse camera have no line one TT..
*
What u mean no line, is it wireless connection to the reverse camera..?

I might consider Toyota's OEM optional Panasonic DVD-AVN after comparison with outside ICE installer.
Reason: 1.Although we can get cheaper or better set outside, but not all workmanship is pro n some is also quite messy. Some prefer factory fitted.
2.Not really cheap as I thought bcos for better quality branded units 6.1"-7" touch screen with bluetooth, usb, ipod, aux without GPS n reverse
camera is around RM1.4-1.6k. With add on GPS n HD reverse camera is RM2.4k, just different of Rm600 fr toyota's Rm2,990.
3.If we replace outside; our standard unit just can only keep as spare unit or as standby for install it back when we sell the car or pass it to
other toyota cars. This is due to the toyota's standard unit must connect to its car connectors n it will not works on other cars bcos it's an OEM
unit design only for UMW toyota.

Two Options: Install the toyota's optional DVD-AVN unit which is expensive n forget about the standard unit
or install outside n keep the standard unit as spare.

The problem with the toyota dvd, it can only function when the handbrake is on. This can be modified for it to works but will void the unit warranty.

And i miss prius the received and end call button on steering wheel like in prius. Wonder why Malaysia version dont have it but Japan or USA version have it. Sigh.

Do post picture here ya when you all get your car and hope we have a fanbase for Prius c hehe
*
The missing Prius 1.8 Voice Command Control on "C" steering wheel is due to UMW's cut cost factor. So you've chose the optional dvd-avn...
Does the 6.1" touch screen hv the Voice Command.? If got, at least not too bad.. The VCC only exist in the US market, Jap version steering
wheel is the same as ours.

We are lucky bcos our Prius C spare tyre is a full size alloy rim not like US 2 specs for spare is a steel rim cover by 2 foam which is fragile,
brittle n easily crack. Another spec is without a spare tyre but comes with repair kit sealant + electric pump (just like our local Jazz Hybrid).

The one features that I missed is the essential "TPM"(Tyre Pressure Monitor) features which is reallyy cool. Only available in US market, sigh..

When did u get yours n how long u waited? What's the color n any discounts or freebies?
Mine booked mid Feb n will be gettin it next week, but I prefer to take it later on May bcos waitin for car registration no.
Let's form a Baby Prius C club..

Oh not to sure about the voice command. As seem when you dial need to press the screen. Hopefully they got voice command.

I think malaysia version is better than USA as we have motion sensor alarm. Meaning when u off ur car. if somebody break in it will trigger the alarm. U can try by winding down ur window and lock the car. And wave ur hand inside.

I book mine last weekend. My SA say I need to wait 6 months. TT. Orange colour. But he told me the one without AVN is ready stock ^^  but i rather want with AVN ^^ .

Wow.. i didnt know about the TPM.

Freebies is antithief tint and cash discount. How about u guys ?
*
Control at touch screen is ok, as long got d voice command features. Can u ask ur SA to try it again with a hdphone see whether VCC works or not.?
Why ur waitin list is so long, mine estmd 50days but i booked mine on middle FEB. Nego with ur SA for faster delivery (d AVN is an OEM set -panasonic
n install locally in toyota), n i assume nationwide waitin list for "C" is estmd slowest is 3mths.

Did u ask ur SA to request d HQ to connect d Dvd for it to function while vehicle is in motion? Outside ICE shop told me some SA can request it for their client bcos d car comes in empty n then just install d set with a safety connector to handbrake to disabled Dvd while in motion. They can ask them not to install d safety n just fix back d original connector. Actually is a easy job the accessories shop can do it by cutting d wire to override it but it will definitely void the DVD-AVN warranty. Try ask ur SA?

I advice u not to take d SA free window tint, ask for more discount. I m sure he won't give u a good quality Rm1k above tint, just like my fren's Prius1.8; d SA gave him a free 450/= tint n now after 1 year d UV heat rejection is still ok but most of tint edges starts to peels out evrywhere n will be worst when it ages.

I presume d discount is in d range of 500/= to 800/=. Some ppl got 500/= n some 700-800/=, even 1 new owner told me he got 1k.. not sure is true or not... My SA assure me d discount but not yet reveal to me bcos I don't want any freebies. So u took d free tint n what's ur cash discount amount?

Wow thanks for the tips. The tint he got for me a good grade A quality anti theft + heat or me from Japan and RM500 cash discount. Is that good enough ? As my family buy like 4 car from him before this.

Will rush him so. But he say estimate time only maybe earlier as he say factory can't produce on time.

For the wire cutting maybei can ask him next time i meet him ^^ . Is this good enough ? As i think freebies is not bad right.
The tint is 4mm and he ask me choose this or Vkool 6mm anti theft + heat tint .
*
U got a good offer whic add up to more than 1k. Make sure is a good grade n most importantly d V-Kool is an authentic one.

According to d ICE installer, we can request UMW to take out d safety sensor n fix back d original connector for d DVD to function while in motion. If don't request, UMW will not give us back d original connector then we hv to cut it. Not all SA will help. Don't do wire cutting, it will definitely void d DVD-AVN 3 yrs warranty. Although outside OEM set for toyota is compatible with d steering touch control, we still don't know whether it will affect other electronics in long run. Pls ask ur SA..

I just chk again, d waitin period is 3 mths n depends on color. Those booked before March is faster. 2 blue color hv to wait till July or Aug.

reverse camera is with guide grid super clear during night time $200 .of cause there are cheaper type but i prefer the best. and thee modify a hole for my input usb device as shown.

Where u fix it..? jus chk w Ipoh shops, they sell 1900 + rev cam 200= 2100.

What about ur windscreen tint, did u take UMW's optional solar std tint (Ecotint) 1400/= or outside tint?
I tried d test car for 40 mins n felt their 1400/= tint is still not good enough to reduce the heat.

Added on April 15, 2012, 11:28 amAny C" owner here install toyota's optional solar std tint(Ecotint) 1400/=?
My experince..I tested d test car in hot noon for more than 40mins n have to full blast the aircon with lower temperature n this cause annoying loud blower sound when turn to auto mode. After 40mins still can fell the heat unless u full blast it all the way.

Does anyone here install other brand tints outside? Any recommend.. willing to pay extra more for a good quality tint n branded ones..

Confuse with too many branded ones outside. Some says Vkool is vry good in rejecting heat but long term will develope corrossion spots n affect d car bcos contain heavy metals element in it, 3M is good but problem with smart tag n GPS's receptions, Llumar is better security tint but heat rejection is poor, too many choices.
Does anyone tried d above tints or any suggestions, pls give us a review here for all d C" owner..

Personally I think 3M tint film is as good as VKool in TSER spec.

So which 3M series is better, i think got few types..?

*
UMW will surely bring in Prius C's TRD body kit to make more $$. Looks cool but will definitely affect its co efficiency drag, better leave it original bcos it's alrdy sporty enough.

As for me, the answer is no.

It is very common to ask for discount from your SA. We are not in the market buying fruits but we
are doing a 2nd biggest purchase besides our house. If u don't ask for discount they are smart and
pretend to keep quite or when u ask them they will give u guys excuses that this car is a brand new
hot model so no discounts. The SA will also give u reasons that the waiting list is too long therefore
no discounts at all.

I got a fren who never nego at all with the SA, even can get the SA's personal discount RM500/=.
Another fren nego and managed to get RM800/= plus free RM210 JPJ normal registration no. and
also free cheap windscreen/window tint which he opted for change of a good 3M car floor mats.
Last week I companied my MD to enquire about the new Camry and he also enquired about the
Prius C which he's not interested to purchase, the SA quickly offered us a discount of RM1000/= for
the Prius C plus few freebies which the SA never reveal to us unless we commit the purchase.

I asked my secretary to survey the discounts offer for Prius C from various showrooms nationwide.
Then I realized that regardless the main distributors or outside dealers in any states; their SA's
discounts varied and from the range of RM500/= to RM1200/= and some even throw in JPJ registration
number selection RM300 for free, free cheap windscreen/window tint (which many ppl don't want it),
free good quality floor mats, free full tank petrol on car delivery time and etc. It all depends on your
negotiation skills.

Even the same main distributor's branches or same dealer's branches; their services and professionalism
are different. Some SA is friendly and give u a good experience from day 1 to delivery of your car and
after sales services. Some SA's courtesy character change after you sign the dotted lines on the retail
customer order form.
My fren told me his UMW's SA totally change when he went back for services. Many times he told his SA
the problems on his car but his SA don't even want to listen at all and pushed him to refer to the service
technician and gave excuses that all SA cannot interfere with the service department bcos the service
personnels got no benefit from the commissions on the sales unlike the SA and don't want the SA to
interfere in their work. Come on la, don't bulls*** my fren... sales dept. and service dept. are all under
1 company. The SA can give advice to my fren or at least follow up.

Therefore u must do the survey first before u make any decisions on which showrooms and the right SA.
It is your rights to ask for discounts and other offers.

True, but in the end I'm still paying a higher fee on the car because I'm on the east and there was the shipping cost included and we did ask but the prices were basically fixed with what else they had offered. I pretty much drilled any info out of the SA for a month+ before committing but in the end there wasn't that much extras. You guys are kinda lucky. Thanks for the advice!
I hear you about the attitude change from some SA though, it's nasty when they do a total 180 - all about sales and zero customer satisfaction/support, especially those ones that like to make excuses. Luckily I've managed to avoid that kind of situation, but I've heard bad stories from friends and some family members.

As for anyone else, you guys should take his advice to :> thanks again!
*
I don't know about your situation there but in west most of the showrooms at least offered RM500/= discounts without asking them and if u know the SA or ask for discount, u can get more for the Prius C. Maybe here got more competitions. No choice if got no discounts in your region but at least he must give you good after sales service.

My fren in Kota Kinabalu never ask for any discount when he got his Prius 1.8, so his SA kept quite. Worst still his SA there is calculative on everything single thing and poor knowledge on Hybrid Synergy Drive. Even the simple bluetooth voice command control function, his SA hv to wait for the SA manager and service technician for help.
Now in the west the discounts for Prius 1.8 is RM1,000/= to RM2,000/= and plus freebies.

Most of the SA will 180 change after u sign on the dotted lines, thrfore must beware. I kena before from my previous SA but after lectured him, he changed back like the China Face Changing Art. Luckily this time my SA is still ok.
Now u still can request fr ur SA, not too late until delivery time.

Seem you have good bargaining power then most of us & able to force or threaten Toyota SA to give you better offer & better service.
My story, I went to Tmn Midah, Cheras showroom last time, don't even have one single SA entertain me & my father. So action.. treat us as invisible. (Few my friends also treat as same)
So what can you do? Shout in the showroom to get attention? or call their manger complain the rude service their having? Or report to media & let the public know Toyota service suck?
Or the best one, all the LYN forumer reading here, we cancel all our booking, boycott Toyota forever?
Go support our poor national car? (even the car quality suck) Let Toyota disappear in the land of Malaysia?
Tell me what will you really will do?? (Probably you are big boss or with some title can ask more, but we just a small civilian)
Rather keep complaining & shout like a monkey, most of us just walk away the goto those small humble showroom which give better attention, service & discount.
If you know Potter's Competitive Model, now the situation is supplier bargaining power is powerful then customer bargaining power.
*
No need to force, complain or threaten, it's simple; just walk away & go survey few more UMW showrooms or dealers then u will find out the facts & different offers. Some really crazy offers that will surprise u.

If your regular showroom or your regular SA don't give good offer & good after sales service then go to others. There is always plenty of other showrooms & SA eagerly waiting for sales.
