Well, not really.Last time, i used a 12cm Delta fan and the sound just made me crazy. So i decided to do a switching whereby my rear 12cm Thermaltake Smart LED fan is taken to the front while my Delta went to the back. The result is similar.Same amount of noise generated..

My 8cm fan at the HDD bay is still the original CM fan but i was planning to switch over to the Silverstone and take off that noisy 12cm fan.Thats why i am wondering would the air intake be enough on a single 8cm fan even if its a Silverstone and would the noise be bearable?

1 last thing, if i am using a fan controller, where should i put it?cause i have a TT fan controller but its optimize for rear usage (uses a PCI back metal slot).I cant switch it to the front...

The Silverstone 80mm fan also use 3 1/2 inch fan controller right, which can be place in the floppy drive bay there...unless you already mount your floppy bay with floppy drive... the CM fan is too low in cfm...even my C532 with 120mm CM fan got too little intake, make my hdd stay in high temp at around 35C (lowest) to 41C (currently highest)... sweat.gif will change to other 120mm fan, and currently still doing research...maybe will switch my hdd to 5 1/4 bay there...maybe will put a 120mm at 5 1/4 bay there to cool down the hdd too... icon_rolleyes.gif

lol..Nope, i do not have a floppy there. But i do have the CM Real Power Wattage Meter there that comes together with the CM Real Power PSU.I thought of mounting it on the inside of the C5 casing instead of it being outsite though..The problem with me now is that i dont believe a single 8cm fan (even it being a Silverstone) is enough as the sole front air intake unless someone prove me wrong..

The only thing i can do now is mounting another 12cm fan (being 12cm + 8cm) on the 5.25" bay as another intake but that is making hell lot of noise due to the blockage of intake (alot of metal plate and sponge thing there).Thats driving me almost crazy...Or should i do any modification to the C5 to fit a 12cm fan as intake around the HDD area?Currently, i only have 8cm(front intake) + 12cm(rear) as the air flow control only.No upper or side fan...Is that enough on the C5?

Maybe you can MOD the intake there to put a 120mm fan... brows.gif and then move your hdd to 5 1/4 bay there, then have good enough intake liao... icon_rolleyes.gif

Edited to add: As for the fan controller, maybe you can MOD your 5 1/4 bay there to fit it in...btw, the silverstone fan controller really not that flexible, it couldn't fit well in my C532 as it is not long enough, so I have to screw it inside and leave it a big big whole there:

Thanks kataro for the info...

I will try replacing it with a Silverstone fan first and see whether it is sufficient or not.Else, i might need to mod that area to fit a 12cm fan.If i really do that, might need to pay a visit to uncle ianho on that..lol..

Anyway, how can i test whether the air intake is enough or not?Check temperature?Temperature of what?Thanks...

2 things, you can estimate the inflow and outflow cfm via rough estimation based on the fan manufacturer, although most of the time, the figures doesn't really match. if there is a difference, then the pressure difference will jeopardizes the whole experiment.

temp measuring requires some extra methology. 1st, you need to get the air sucked in to be cooler than the ambient temp inside the case. then using the nearest hardware or instrument to roughly estimate the temp difference.

Might be due to the collision of Blue and Red led in the casing?

Just found out a way to fix the airflow problem i had been having previously on my C5.Might be getting a Scythe Kama Bay as a front intake.Anyone know will it fit in the C5?
