Hi, i am new cooler master user here..i have myself a Centurion 5, 1 x 8cm Fan, 2 x 12cm Fan, 1 x Xcraft External Enclosure, 1 x 450W PSU, 2 x Cooler Master Rounded IDE Cable...
Just wondering, my front panel of my CM5 seems to be abit loose.Might be due to the "leg" connecting the front panel to the body loose already..Is there anyway to fix it?Currently, there is a gap between the front panel and the body.
And where did all of u get the mat for the floor of the casing?Planning to get 1..

I am wondering something weird about the C5 design...The C5 have 1 floopy slot externally (at the front panel) but if you take out the front panel, you will notice there is actually 2 slot internally.Whats the other slot for if you cant use it?

QUOTE(deric88 @ Jan 3 2007, 03:01 PM) maybe they use the same internal stuff for other casing but the front design different Now that you have said this, i realise that the internal is almost exactly similar to the Elite 330...

QUOTE(YammieR6 @ Jan 3 2007, 04:21 PM) Ya I was so worried the plastic pins that hold the front cover in place would break when I had to pinch it to remove the front casing to fix my casing fans. Do the more expensive casings have these cheap-ish fragile design for the front cover? Thats the main problem for me using the C5.I had to take out the front panel almost everytime i need to cleanup my pc.Dust is gathering up at those spongy thing at the front panel. One of the 6 pins had loosen already and its almost impossible to find the front panel as an accessory unless you buy a whole new casing...

QUOTE(E-J@1 @ Jan 3 2007, 04:50 PM) hahaha, that's the weakness for cheap cases, hey since it's "cheap", get a new one & can make it as an accessory for all parts Well, not everyone can afford hard core expensive casing though. And for me to spend almost RM200 for a casing is already pretty much expensive..I still hope i could find another front panel though or maybe some other way to fix that loose pin...

For Centurion 5 owners,
I would like to ask, is having a 8cm fan which is located at the HDD bay enough as the front air intake?Currently, i am using the original supplied 8cm front intake as well as adding another 12cm one at the 5.25" bay, by manually screwing the fan there. However, its making hell lot of noise due to the fact that there is a metal plate located there which is blocking some of the air intake...
I would love to remove that and concentrate on the front 8cm fan alone but i am scared that it would not be enough for front air intake.Would it be sufficient using 8cm fan alone?
Anyway, i will be changing that to the Silverstone FM82 fan in the future and hope that alone will be enough or else i will continue using that 12cm fan that is making alot of noise...

QUOTE(Vervain @ Feb 21 2007, 11:17 PM) 12 cm from CM also? all my CM are dead silent or should i say push little CFM. I find CM's fan useless but i'll have to live with it. my loudest noise would be the silverstone FM121 located on the CPU. even with full closure, you can hear screams from hell. oh boy. if you're getting a silverstone fan, ensure that you make full use of the fan controller. just my 2 cent Well, not really.Last time, i used a 12cm Delta fan and the sound just made me crazy. So i decided to do a switching whereby my rear 12cm Thermaltake Smart LED fan is taken to the front while my Delta went to the back. The result is similar.Same amount of noise generated.. My 8cm fan at the HDD bay is still the original CM fan but i was planning to switch over to the Silverstone and take off that noisy 12cm fan.Thats why i am wondering would the air intake be enough on a single 8cm fan even if its a Silverstone and would the noise be bearable? 1 last thing, if i am using a fan controller, where should i put it?cause i have a TT fan controller but its optimize for rear usage (uses a PCI back metal slot).I cant switch it to the front...

QUOTE(Kataro @ Feb 22 2007, 12:34 PM) The Silverstone 80mm fan also use 3 1/2 inch fan controller right, which can be place in the floppy drive bay there...unless you already mount your floppy bay with floppy drive... the CM fan is too low in cfm...even my C532 with 120mm CM fan got too little intake, make my hdd stay in high temp at around 35C (lowest) to 41C (currently highest)... will change to other 120mm fan, and currently still doing research...maybe will switch my hdd to 5 1/4 bay there...maybe will put a 120mm at 5 1/4 bay there to cool down the hdd too... lol..Nope, i do not have a floppy there. But i do have the CM Real Power Wattage Meter there that comes together with the CM Real Power PSU.I thought of mounting it on the inside of the C5 casing instead of it being outsite though..The problem with me now is that i dont believe a single 8cm fan (even it being a Silverstone) is enough as the sole front air intake unless someone prove me wrong.. The only thing i can do now is mounting another 12cm fan (being 12cm + 8cm) on the 5.25" bay as another intake but that is making hell lot of noise due to the blockage of intake (alot of metal plate and sponge thing there).Thats driving me almost crazy...Or should i do any modification to the C5 to fit a 12cm fan as intake around the HDD area?Currently, i only have 8cm(front intake) + 12cm(rear) as the air flow control only.No upper or side fan...Is that enough on the C5?

Thanks kataro for the info...
I will try replacing it with a Silverstone fan first and see whether it is sufficient or not.Else, i might need to mod that area to fit a 12cm fan.If i really do that, might need to pay a visit to uncle ianho on that..lol..
Anyway, how can i test whether the air intake is enough or not?Check temperature?Temperature of what?Thanks...

QUOTE(E-J@1 @ Feb 28 2007, 04:16 PM) @ jtcs87 a bit messy, don't u think so may i know what mobo & socket type u using Might be due to the collision of Blue and Red led in the casing? Just found out a way to fix the airflow problem i had been having previously on my C5.Might be getting a Scythe Kama Bay as a front intake.Anyone know will it fit in the C5?

I do agree that happens on my C5 as well. Not only at the 5.25" bay where i put a 12cm fan, but at the 8cm fan located at my HDD area as well..There will be a thin layer of dust at the front plate after a few days. But if you take out the front panel, you will see more dust that is trapped there that prevent you from cleaning it if you no take it out..

Anyone know the highest capacity HDD that the 2.5" Xcraft Enclosure could support?Would the Sata version be able to transfer data faster than the IDE version?

QUOTE(rainalone @ May 21 2007, 11:48 PM) how to open the front panel of C5... just pull it out?? i scare it broke = = need any tools or not? No tools to open. All you can do is pull it out by force. I have no problem doing so though but of course, one of the pin is already loose..Keep in mind you CANT find a replacement for the front panel. At least from what i searched for..

QUOTE(Are_keem @ May 30 2007, 11:57 PM) but wait, C5 got mesh front panel rite? so, can put 120mm fan there, like I've done to my C530, 2 x 120mm front intake -adios- Be ready to clean up that front panel every week if thats the case. It attracts dust like crazy when i did that last time..And by doing that everyweek, it makes the pin go loose.Gosh..

QUOTE(Are_keem @ Jun 3 2007, 08:57 PM) that is the downside.. anyway, I just clean the dust on the front panel using my hands everyday.. and clean up the dust filter once in 2 weeks.. -adios- Well, i use to do that as well last time but to be honest, its not that good. There is still alot of dust trapped in the filters..
