2gb vram??

You can play BF3 with GT540M on low details and get playable frame rate.

The amount of ram in GPU doesn't affect performance at all. 1GB is adequate for most game except BF3 but i doubt GT540M able to utilize more than 1GB for it.
Even some of AMD latest HD7000 series GPU for desktop still using 1GB of vram.

QUOTE(ethankhs @ Jan 6 2012, 01:25 AM)
Guys! SOS icon_question.gif

Was thinking of getting Asus G53SX-S1208V. But Asus N55SF-SX331V has very similar specs for a slightly cheaper price.
Appreciate if any master here can enlighten on the difference?
*

Taken from my post in other thread and change to N55SF. laugh.gif

G53SX
  • Poor battery life because no Optimus. Decent battery life for N55SF.
  • Bulky and heavy - 4kg. N55SF = 2.7kg?
  • Dual cooling fan - better cooling. N55SF got 1?
  • 4 memory slots - for your own weather station. N55SF = 2 slots.
  • 2 HDD bays - enough to keep your prawns i guess. N55SF only got 1.
  • 1920x1080 resolution - 1600x900 in N55SF.
  • GTX560M - 30%-40% faster than GT555M in N55SF.

Cheaper FHD alternative with weaker GPU.
GE620DX-675, i7-2670QM + Nvidia GT635M(equivalent to GT555M in N55SF) + (1920x1080)@RM3499

1. Preferred Brand: anything will do
2. Budget:<RM3k , though i would really like to keep it under RM2k
3. Usage: student stuffs, words, mid-end games. DotA2 please at least.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13"-14"

i need a laptop that is lightweight, thin for me to be able to carry it to class without much of a hassle. (since my current studio1555 is so bulky+heavy..) yet able to perform for med-requirements games..(dota2 anyone?)
*

Dota 2@Medium setting i think you gonna need an i5+GT540M.

I play with everything ON, 16xAF without AA@1366x768 and i get just over 60fps. doh.gif

From LYN garage sale? It is a great bargain and it far better compare to the model TJ's suggested but i recommended you to contact Toshiba Malaysia and ask them directly about the warranty for this imported model, is it extendable or even claimable.
