Speakin without learning how to write is just plain stupid.
*
Agreed. While a lot of people CAN speak without being able to read or write, you can't deny that reading or writing WILL give you numerous extra opportunities. Especially once you move on to more advanced pieces.

Anyway, about my DFP9415, its a really smooth double pedal, and I'm really enjoying the response and the feel I get when playing it, but I miss the "power" of double chain lah. biggrin.gif

isaac - how much for the custom head? inked by evans? ETA berapa lama ah. haha

freakin bentley wants to blacklist me la. stupid. blacklist la! it is my right as a customer to ask for pricing for the items i want. sudahlah messed up my order, now u guys want to blacklist me because i keep asking other dealers for best price? aduh
*
This is what's on my price list.
RM230 for 20', RM250 for 22' and RM270 for 24' INKED BY EVANS.
Add RM55 to the head that you want to print on for customization fees. If you want a port hole, add RM20. smile.gif

I think the standard price is for the ones that JS ordered, but if you want your own custom stuff with your band name et. all have to add lorh.

They told you they want to blacklist you?

Best bang for the buck doesn't mean cheapest right? HAHAHAHA! Its not my favourite, but the Pearl Eliminator P2002Cs are pretty okay for the price.

thanks all for the suggestions.

"best bang of the buck" - means, something like this

A Shure SM57. It's cheap, it's not the best microphone, but engineers can always rely on it to sound good for many applications.
*
Yeah I know, I was referring to the Intruder thing. smile.gif

Hey mate, what do you think of the Samson mics? I'm thinking of getting my hands on a pair of CO2s or CO1s. They seem pretty value for money. I'll probablygo with the CO1s, the large diaphragm ones, seem more useful to have around.

My main thing will be drums lah, but I'm looking for something versatile. That's why I'm going for large diaphragm. smile.gif

how much are those samsons ? I'm taking a hard look at Rode M1. ebay RM380 including shipping. some dynamic mics perform better than condensers
*
The Samson is around RM250-RM300. xD HAHAHAHA!

Hmm... Some comments lah.
Personally, I like kicks to have a bit more definition and power, especially for metal, and there was some weird reverb going on with the kicks at some point of time too. The ride and crash, definitely need a lot of work smile.gif HAHAHA!
The sanre, okay lah, and the hats sounded okay.

Guys what ear protection you all use? (If you ain't playing with mute pads) Can recommend me some? Or should I just use my gaming headset? (Steelseries Siberia V2 Navi Edition) hmm.gif icon_question.gif

I use Sony headphones when I'm in the studio and Sony earplugs when playing live as IEMs.

MAD RESPECT for malaysia's local band and drummers too. gila eh. still got a long way to catch up oh if it were me
*
Oh yeah biggrin.gif Zekiel here passed me his extra ticket! Thanks bro biggrin.gif

Yup! HAHAHAHA! I notice that Davison's drumming is way more intricate than Gillespie's lah, but maybe that's cause he doesn't have to focus on singing as well?

QUOTE(zacharyseng @ Mar 15 2012, 04:28 PM)
u guys know where got a lot of cymbals to try?  biggrin.gif
*
Nope, not really. Here in Malaysia, I have no idea why shops don't like people to try out kits. :? Oh well.

I'm getting my hands on a set of Sabian Hand Hammered hi-hats tomorrow, probably smile.gif But I really need crashes/rides/chinas/snares more than them, so if anyone is interested, let me know. The retail price is RM1.9k+, but I guess I'll let them go for RM1200 nego lah. Again, willing to trade. biggrin.gif

woah... stagg cymbals sure are cheap, aren't they?
any advice on them?
quality:money ratio?
which line nice? biggrin.gif
*
Stagg cymbals are value for money, at the higher end lines. I wouldn't touch the lower end ones though. I have played the DH series and the Myra series, and they do seem pretty alright. The lower end ones turn out like most other crud cymbals lahh. But the DH china is one of the best buys ever. smile.gif

trading my AAX crash for a HHX soon biggrin.gif

And besides that, anyone know the shipping fees to ship a drum set from the US to Malaysia?

I like Pork Pie drums (: but I've never played their snare before. Their acrylic drums sound killer, though.

I would sell it la smile.gif but i got an offer to trade it, so I took the offer lorh. xD HAHAHAHA! I wanna try the HHX. smile.gif

Mini review on the HH Hand Hammered Fusion Hats : I took them out and used them for a short set yesterday, opening for someone else lah. First impressions - This is a pair of hat with chockfuls of vintage mojo. Especially paired with the Ludwig kit that I was using (sadly, not my own tongue.gif), you get that whole old school vibe going. It doesn't sound crisp like my HHXs, but it's a whole other beast altogether lahh. Until I manage to find a buyer for these babies, they will be my open handed hats. x)

I want in on the bulk! xD

In that case I'll have to clear off my snare and my hats, at least before my drums.

Okay, Pearl Piccolo going for RM299 with Remos, and HH Fusion Hats going for 1k.

QUOTE(terradrive @ Mar 31 2012, 08:35 AM)
I want to ask sifus here about my dilemma.

I loves drum but I can't play it loud in my house, I share the house with colleagues. Is there any way to lessen then noise from acoustic drums? How does playing with brushes compensate this?

I tried electronic drums, Either they are too expensive (rm 7k+ for the nice ones) or the budget models are too basic (only single zone ride and crash cymbals which sux, and still cost rm3.5k+). Both doesn't have much of the feel of acoustic drums too.

Everyday I'm thinking on drumming but I can't, it's killing me sad.gif
*
Well, you could try the Ludwish sticks smile.gif or buy mute pads/mesh heads and trigger them, if you want.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Mar 31 2012, 12:52 PM)
Mute pads/ Mesh Heads like me. Though my bass drum is un-muted
So in contrast which one do you prefer? Got any brighter hats that you wanna sell?

Oh BTW Your ride still for Sale ka?  icon_idea.gif brows.gif
*
Yeah, it's still kinda for sale. biggrin.gif Prefer to trade though. But I'd consider selling. I love my ride most though. tongue.gif

Honestly right, the HH Fusion hats are really bright. HAHAHAHA! They're way brighter than my HHXs, and have a very defined "chick" to them. I attribute that to the air-vented bottom. They're actually pretty loud too. So unlike all the other HH hats that I've played. tongue.gif I used a pair of HHs at a gig in Singapore a short while back and those were dark and sultry. But these HH Fusions are so powerful and in your face. I think you might like them.

Edit: so which do I prefer? Hmm.. I still use my HHXs as my main hats, mainly cause that's "my sound" already, since I've been using them for quite a while now, and I'm used to the feel, but I've found some pretty good uses for the HH is some songs. xD If its good enough for Shawn Drover of Megadeth, it should be good enough for you wink.gif HAHAHAHA! Interested? I need to sell them lah, not cause I don't like them, but I really need the cash for some other commitments.

Do any of you use any smartphone apps for practice or jamming, not just for drums but in general as well? So far i've only purchased an essential one - a metronome app tongue.gif Just wondering what other useful apps are out there.

Yeah, I've got an app called Mobile Metronome, which is free. smile.gif I also use Gstrings (a tuning app), and several synth apps, but I usually use them only when I'm on guitar lah.
