Tried a few free ones and they're crap. Reminds me of those free ones for PC as well, not enough features and poor accuracy... due to not making use of the PC's in-built MIDI chip for timing or something. Off topic a bit tongue.gif

Hmmm a tuner could be useful. Can tune drums to pitch eh...
*
Hmm.. Yeah. smile.gif Macam Neil Peart wink.gif HAHAHA!

QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Apr 2 2012, 06:13 PM)
oh, u mean, everywhere u hit on the skin, make sure the pitch frequency is almost the same ? that's how u tune drums?
*
The most common tuner used for drums is the DrumDial. I think Thalidomide is selling em.

Got the chance to check out a set of acrylic drums the other day belonging to a professional drummer that I know. I haven't seen any others in Malaysia, so yeah. No pictures though. D:

They were a set of custom acrylics, no idea where he got them from. First things first, they were incredibly bright and loud, especially in the small room that we were in. Not much resonance, and it doesn't have the tonal qualities of wood, obviously, heh. But it was a great experience and fun to play with. And it looked wicked!

SBR not beginner cymbals meh?  hmm.gif
I see...no one is stopping you to get it...  laugh.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

SBR are beginner cymbals. x)
Expensive tau. xD Cheapest set I would get is USD3000 without shipping. *burn* Might as well get Ludwig Classic Maple rclxm9.gif

I traded my AAX crash with a HHX and I'm now in a very... weird phase. Its a good cymbals, but the china flange on this particular HHX crash is slightly weird. Heh. The other ones I tried didn't have this. But oh well.

Nope, just HHX. biggrin.gif Its a very nice cymbal though, very nice projection. biggrin.gif Just that when played with a hand, you can hear a bit of a chinese flange, but when played normally its fine. biggrin.gif

HAHAHA! Depending on your own taste lah. smile.gif Classic Maple drums are really nice. Some Acrylics are nice too! I'm not a huge fan of the Vistalites though.

From last night's show at Dataran Merdeka. Well, UNDER Dataran Merdeka. The other bands on the bill were Wanted Symphony, Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob and Seconds To Collide.

I brought my cymbals along for the ride, and my HHX crash lost its gigging virginity. Extremely nice projection.
I did bring my own snare for the soundcheck the day before, but the brass Pearl and the Yamaha snare they had seemed to suit the songs that we were doing more, so yeah. Backline equipment provided by The Guitar Store.

Kit was a Cadeson Stadium LX I think, with Remo Pinstripes (IIRC) on the toms, Ambassador on the snare and Powerstroke III on the kick. It sounded quite big, when put together. Cymbals were my HHX Stage Hats, HHX Stage Crash and AAX Stage Ride.

*
Nope, it wasn't. But it was a big-sounding kit.

Where is doremi located?  hmm.gif I wanna check it out. Usually cymbals won't pecah...if they do means either it's too tight or wrong technique. IMO most pecah cymbals I've seen is crash.
*
Sometimes its due to manufacturing defects as well la. Obviously bad technique has a say in it too, but still, its not always the player. biggrin.gif

Snare pad and kick pad. That's what I'm doing now la. tongue.gif I saw a really cheap Roland TD-10 go for about RM3k the other day, almost got it! But at the last minute the auction price shot up. HAHA

isaacmiranda7, would u prefer e-drums for practicing ?

If I had the choice, I'd definitely go for acoustic, but in my current situation, I'd have to go with e-drums. smile.gif I mean, obviously I could mute up my acoustics la, but I like being able to hear and "feel" more of what I'm playing. Why?

Noobie drummer here...

Can anyone suggest a good twin pedal around RM1k. Doesn't matter if it is new or used. If RM1k won't get me a good twin pedal, how much do I need to top up?

Thanks.
*
You should be able to grab a Tama Iron Cobra for under RM1k used. smile.gif I used one of them for one and a half years, and to date, even with my current Yamaha's (which I'm very happy with wink.gif ) I don't regret them at all. They are extremely good, sturdy double chain pedals. Topup about RM500 and you could probably get them new.

Thank for the reply.

May I know which Iron Cobra model would you suggest for newbie? Power, Rolling or Flexi Glide?
What is your take on other make like Gibraltar, DW, Pearl and Yamaha?
*
Its honestly all up to you. smile.gif Most people go for Power or Rolling though.

I used to have a set of Rolling Glides but I've played extensively on the Power Glides as well. The Rolling Glides just seem smoother, while the Power Glides have that extra piece of "ooomph" to the feel of the kick. If you do get more cash on hand, do try the newer Tama Speed Cobras.

The Gibraltar pedals are very value for money and are the only "budget" ones that I'd recommend at lower price-points with solid hardware and such.

Never really been a fan of the Pearl Eliminators (the 2000) series, but the Demon Drive (the 3000) is very smooth to the touch, and extremely response.

The DW9000 (again, probably out of your reach at the moment) are really good pedals that a lot of pros (and other players) use. And right now I'm using a set of Yamaha DFP4500s, the last pedals to be made in Japan, as Yamaha has now moved its production somewhere down south. Really smooth, I like the feel and the hardware, no problems thus far.

Not really but there are different sizes IIRC 7A is the thinnest & lightest and 2B is most heavy and fattest tongue.gif

Then again, different manufacturers have different 7A sizes. smile.gif

My favourite sticks were the Tama 7A 13mm diameter, 390mm length sticks, but they stopped making them :S

Sorry, I meant the DFP9415. I talked to a Yamaha rep and she told me it was from Japan, the last one before it was discontinued.

Recently they've switched to China, I think. HAHA

Ahh, I see. smile.gif I thought otherwise. smile.gif But still, its a great pair of doubles!

QUOTE(brokenbomb @ Apr 26 2012, 04:15 PM)
nah its not because its made in china that i sold it off. its because that pedal...well the beater would always go out of place..and the other reason would be I try tweaking it out here and there. But still, I cant find the right feeling for it..lagipun its a direct drive..tidak biasa..haha

thats y im going back to chain. haha.

Even starclassics right now are being made in china..haha except for the omni tune la.
*
I'm planning to switch to Speed Cobras or maybe the Axis longs, because my feet are rather big, and I've always wanted to try playing heel-toe more comfortably. tongue.gif HAHA
