I see, get a gigging kit then

Your Ludwig Epic Kit including hardware?
Oh if U ship from US very mahal one IIRC, better ask relative/friends take for you if you have relative/friends there smile.gif I.e. oder then ship to relative/friends place then when they visit you ask them bring it a long.  thumbup.gif
*
Yes, including BRONZE hardware.
Yep, planning on getting a bass, a floor and a snare, and that's it. Considering my options now.

I smell some

Planning on sending it to my cousin there (with free shipping) and asking my cousin to ship it over. Carry back drums? SIAO MEH?
The kit I'm looking at has an 18x24 bass, so, I'll ask them to take out the heads and fit the shells inside each other.

QUOTE(muckstefan @ Jan 2 2012, 09:32 PM)
dude, u carry evans as well? whats the price for genera dry 13" and hazy 300? u got some snare wires as well?

Yep, I have Puresound.

QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Jan 2 2012, 10:34 PM)
stage custom, real price is RM2500. but Yamaha selling for double . huh
*
Uhh, no bro. Yamaha is selling at the recommended retail price. smile.gif
Its just that we're so used to looking at US prices which are extremely discounted.
You'd have to include our humongous taxes and shipping and so on.

QUOTE(zacharyseng @ Jan 3 2012, 10:09 AM)
unsure.gif  whistling.gif now no $, just asking price
how about pearl vision or ludwig classic maple?
ps: my sabian sbr pack hi hat sound like
i don't trust sabian no more  yawn.gif
*
Pearl Vision is pretty okay lah. If I'm not mistaken, the latest retail price is around RM3.5k.
Ludwig Classic Maple on the other hand is pretty darn expensive. tongue.gif HAHAHAHA!

About US2k+ for a kit? After the conversion, shipping, taxes its pretty high.

AND HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT! tongue.gif HAHAHAHA!
You've got a very happy Sabian guy right here. I've been using Sabian for pretty much my whole drumming life, and I'm extremely happy. Sure, I've come across other cymbals that are pretty good by other brands, but overall, up till now, Sabian has been perfect for my style.

The SBR is the lowest range Sabian at the moment. Try out some AAXs and HHXs and maybe you'll change your mind? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Jan 3 2012, 10:24 AM)
pearl vision birch, icons music quoted me RM2450 something for 5 piece.
*
That's pretty cheap actually; the old model, clear stock ka?

QUOTE(ZachIsAwesome @ Jan 3 2012, 01:18 PM)
difference between birch and maple?
*
What Ah Toi put up is pretty correct, and can be taken as a rule of thumb, but you do come across inconsistencies with those facts lah. Cause, all wood is different.

I'm selling my Ludwig Epic for RM3000, its a midrange kit, and is one of the best you can get for the price. I only used mine for one recording session and it has been stored away since. It comes with 4 toms as well! But no snare, however. I could throw in a snare for a few hundred bucks more, though.

It is something like the picture above, but without a snare, and one of the floor toms is suspended, instead of having legs. Sexy kan?

The thing about this kit is that, there is, firstly, an awesome finish, secondly, you can move the toms around. You can have 3 rack toms and one floor tom, two floor toms and two rack toms, or one rack tom and three floor toms, all are possible. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Jan 3 2012, 08:51 PM)
IMO ZBTs are crap tongue.gif , as I'm currently using them .____.

Try Sabian Xs20 if you're on a tight budget.  rclxms.gif

5p3ak, ZBTs are crap? hmmm what do u think of Meinl MCS and Stagg SH / DH series ?

Added on January 4, 2012, 1:31 amoh and guys, if Meinl MCS 3 piece is RM880, and the same set plus free Meinl Class Series 10in Splash and 14in China is RM1100, would you get the RM1100 one ?
*
YES! ZBTs are really horrible. I honestly don't like them. I would go for the RM1100 one, mate. But it would honestly be awesome if you'd save up a bit more and get at least a midrange set, like the XS20. Or even save up more and get a full pro-level cymbal set like jenglot's one.

QUOTE(Jenglot @ Jan 4 2012, 07:31 AM)
Save up a little more get my paragon fullset. Ride, 2 crash, hihat, splash and 20" china for 2.5k.....
Someone has been reserved the cymbals for too long..paid rm1k deposit but till now still not collecting the cymbals... Pening2...No option but has to reopen the offer
*
Still interested in the crash alone bro biggrin.gif HAHAHAHA!

IMO I prefer 2up 2 down xD
*
My favourite setup that I've played on is four rack (8, 10, 12, 13), two down (16,18) and one more floor (16 on my left) with two snares (one 14 x 5.5 and one 13 x 3), three crashes in front (16,16,16), two rides on the right (20,22), one china/crash stack (14, I think), one 18' crash on my right, one 20' china next to the crash, and one pair of x-hats.

Gigantic Tama Superstar kit with Sabians biggrin.gif HAHAHAHA! That was a blast to play on; was a two night thing only though.

And the MCS RM340.

By the way, does anyone have/plans to order a copy of Gary Chester's The New Breed? It's one of the best books out there for drummers, and I'm planning on ordering a copy from Amazon. Anyone wanna bulk with me?

Bentleys only :/ I can get you both, for a discounted price. PM me for information. Why not look at the Speedcobras?

Nope, I muffle externally, even for studio work. Much more flexible, especially with moongel nowadays and so on. I guess, depends what you want to muffle for?

Hey guys,

Just wondering where do you guys drum? I mean if it's at home how much of a nuisance is it to your neighbours? Since most of us live in terrace houses that share a wall, I am wondering how best to manage the sound.

Thoughts?
Thanks.
*
Precisely why I drum outside. But I'll be starting a studio in my condominium soon, so... yeah. But I guess afternoons should be fine. Just let your neighbours know that you'll be practicing for a while, and buy them some cookies, and it ought to be fine biggrin.gif

oh need drum mat ? or any carpet can ?

I have shure drum mic kit (pg52, pg56 (2x) , pg81 (2x)). the overheads and cymbals are supposed to use Shure PG81. but I have audio technica AT2020 condenser which is quite awesome. and an SM57, which is supposed to be good for snares. so 8 mics total. I haven't experimented yet.  I'm really a beginner trying to learn smile.gif

any tips?

Ahh, I see.

Yes, even small changes here and there, like the direction you position your mics, or even two or three inches closer or farther, will result in a drastic sound change. So yeah biggrin.gif

I see..but in your opinion, which one do u prefer? Birch or maple?

*
I currently have a kit that has 2 layers of birch with maple in between smile.gif

Between the two of them though, I love the sound of birch when it comes to rock, and maple when I'm playing lighter music. However, that's just MY preference. Everyone has their own taste biggrin.gif

Favourite wood so far = Oak. xxD

Been eying on the Ludwig Epic Series for quite sometime now but not so sure if Bentley have them. Also looking on the Tama Silverstar and Pearl Vision.

It would be great if you guys could help me around. I don't want quite a beginner set. Would be great if can get 6pc like the Ludwig Epic.

Yes! I'm selling my Epic smile.gif RM3.2k, I guess, with hardware and everything. no snare though. But add a hundred bucks and I'll throw in a snare.

I'm not adding any cymbals in mate! xD The kit came for 4+ without cymbals. Just hardware. :/ I could add cymbals for very low prices though.
The condition is pretty good, I guess. I used it for just one recording session, then its been in a box ever since.
