i always keep my hardware especially the pedals oily to avoid rusts and squeaky sounds smile.gif
using superoil ... can be bought at hardware shops for RM1.60 (ala sewing machine oil)

Depends on the pedal design.
I've never had to top up on grease or oil for my Axis.
When I had the Tama IC, maybe one or two parts can benefit from lubing, or needed to be lubed IIRC. It's main bearings are sealed and would probably be smooth forever tongue.gif However, some metal parts (e.g. important screws, base plate, the sealed bearing's covers etc) rusted easily due to the materials used.

If you need to lube, grease is a good choice. The thicker the better, and it doesn't dry out so fast, or ever tongue.gif Oil is generally a poor choice and will dry out and get tacky within a few hours. Another lube that doesn't dry out is dry lubes like carbon dust. Not sure if those are good but the point of lubricating is just to ensure that any places where metal rubs against metal are smooth and clean from dust, dirt etc.

Those who took advantage of those great deals can look back now and say, "ah... those were the good ol' days". Unless another financial crisis crops up and wipes out Eurozone as we know it. Then you'll have 75% sales again biggrin.gif

So, guys. I'm thinking about picking up a used Ludwig Acrolite, probably from overseas. Anyone with friends that could help carry it back from the US or something? HAHA.

I used to fantasise about Ludwig Black Beauties but after checking out other brand's stuff and doing more research, I can't help but wonder if the splay on the tension rods is intentional or just shoddy design...

The strainer seems to be problematic as well. This shows that while Made-in-USA stuff is generally really good, there are some not-so-good eggs in the basket.

That said, Ludwig's designs have inspired so many makers and honestly, I drool over some of the 'copy-cat' products tongue.gif From the Black Beauty-type snare drums (i.e. Joyful Noise), to the shell configuration and materials (i.e. C&C Custom Drums), those are the stuff made of dreams.

The thing about Aussie is, it will most probably be more expensive than Malaysia, and Singapore's used market, isn't that big. smile.gif

I love the Black Beauty/Supraphonic tones but I think for the moment my immediate budget will only let me go as far as the Acrolite. smile.gif

I'd have to agree with you on that. Some of the snares that certain makers have come up with are certainly amazing drums, and are even better than the originals themselves, sometimes.

Hi guys, I posted this in the Guitar thread and thought I might post one here as well, since its gonna require a drummer.

I'm gonna be down in the KL vicinity this weekend and thought I'd do something constructive this time around hehehe.

Anybody here interested in meeting up for a jam session, an hour or so? I have no studio preference, and am open to suggestion. I reckon if we can get at least a drummer and another guitar player means can jalan di.

Would be great to be able to put a face to all these names here hehehe. Any takers?
