Guys.. I'm going on a week long vacation. You think my shrimps will be ok to puasa for a week? Any suggestions?
*
1) ask colleague to help feed.
2)Use auto feeder
3)If tank got enough algae, no need feed.
4)Any food that won't go spoil if put in your auto water top-up system?
5)Feed them before you see them the last time, one week is not too long or short , the may make it.

But the best and long term way is to add shrimps soil like benibachi fulvic soil.

Normal. Death shrimps body color will change to total orange after few hours no matter what the actual color are.
Kyte. You doing major replanting and and disturb
the substrate. Ammonia may spike.

i see.

bro arrow, how to reduce tds effectively?? before water change is 185ppm, after water change go back to 185ppm also..

@@
*
~use RO or distilled water to do water change.
~Check your tank, remove all coral stone/limestone if you have any.
~for crs tank, GH is also very important, your tds of 185 is suitable for high end crs like benibachi shrimps but
but normal local crs a tds of 120~130 is more suitable. Maintain a GH of 4.

i just use tap water which give 60tds, so need to use ro/distilled water??

my tank hav driftwood, ryu rock(ada rock), lava rock, ada soil, will this increase tds??

ya im trying to lower to below 150 to suit my crs sad.gif
*
yes, using RO or distilled water is the safest most effective way.
Lava rock, depend which type, some do increase PH , not all are neutral.
Try with RO water first, but you must know RO water is without any mineral etc, you may need to re-mineralize it.

remineralize meaning need to add wat kind of mineral??

now i doing experiment, putting 2 bowl of water then with lava rock and ryu rock. wait until tmr, see which reading will increase..

does tis experiment works??

how long for the rock solid to dissolve?
*
normally add mineral powder or liquid like mosura mineral plus.
You can use Vinegar , drip a few drop on the rock, if bubble form or sizzling/hissing sound , then this stone will increase ph,tds,gh.

Ok.

I have tested the lava rock and ryu rock with vinegar, both also don't have sizzling/hissing sound.

But then after I soaked both rock overnight, they do affect the tds a little.

Before soak
Ryu rock water - 42tds
Lava rock water - 44tds

After soak overnight
Ryu rock water - 45tds
Lava rock water - 53tds

So are they affecting the tds? But the vinegar test is negative @@

Now my water tds at tank is 190. Increased by 5 adi. The only way to reduce tds is by using ro water right? Those water machine at shop is it ro water?
*
The water machine , don't know how pure the water is as the filter seem never be washed, if your tank is not that big
, can buy those 10L bottled water , let said your tank is 2ft 60L after minus substrate and blank space on top of tank.
should be like 50L++ , a 10L water change = 20% ,should be enough to see the tds down.
remove the lava rock then as they as of not much use anyway.
What soil you using now ? if ADA soil , PH still 7.5 , that mean the buffering power is long gone, not suitable for CRS.
Better re-setup with shrimps soil like benibachi fulvic soil. Pls stay away from Help Shrimps soil if possible.

some may not make it. 90 not many as they take time to grow up.
Don't simply add new plants, else be wiped out again.

yeah thats what im afraid off also. but i dont really have much moss or algae in my tank. previously when all wiped out was during a small heatwave. so a lot of that life kinda also died off. will need to consider getting a larger tank eheh.
