Sorry couldn't help much. Yes you are right. If factory reset = need to root back.

If you factory reset with CF kernel then no need to reroot. If your back to your original kernel then need to reroot.
*
Ok thanks but don't think need to go to that extreme just yet tongue.gif notworthy.gif
but it will be a good excuse to try out TB recovery hmm.gif

err... how to do factory reset with CF kernel?
i tot factory reset can be done by certain way, like from the recover mode menu, from phone setting, from phone dial pad with the correct input #.
need to use ODIN?

settings > privacy > factory data reset. Does not matter which kernel you use.

thanks master smile.gif
the more i read, the more i got confuse...
i am still stockkk.... blush.gif

i want to get root 1st and foremost right? so i read and understand guide from @creezalird for G version.
but then i read about CF-root, which will not only give you root, but also topbox or boxsomthing... smile.gif
but then it said CF-root only for works for certain ROM.. pening d..

then last last like all the sifu said, ask yourself why you need to root? biggrin.gif
then my answer is everyone root, so i might as well root so i can follow the thread and join the discussion.. haha..
but ofcoz i know root will have more admin access and more settings to play with from UI to functionality. probably too much to digest for now

Hello people, I've a problem with my S2. Tried to search for identical problem but I just lost myself in the searches >.>

My S2 is a ori 2.3.5 almost fresh phone from the dealer (used it for around 2 months). Only downloaded basic apps like goWidget and whatever essential.

I've a problem with my stock camera app. It would hang at times.

Whenever we take a photo, it actually "freezes" for awhile right? Mine also but it just freeze there until it prompts me to force close the camera app. I need to do that, no choice. But I can't run the camera app again until I restart my Phone. It would say Camera failed if I try to start the app without restarting. and If I do no restart my phone, my phone will get hot and battery drains.

Any idea what's causing it? Would love to at least know what's happening before I have the time to send it for warranty =]

Hey word of caution, CF kernel is NOT compatible with G version. Stick to the guide by creezalird or use ONLY rooting guide from Post #10 in Page #1.

Rooting just give you additional access to your device to do proper backups, themes, tweaking cpu, flashing roms etc. If your happy with the device without rooting, dun rush yourself. You can still enjoy the device alot without rooting. thumbup.gif

Are you using G version? Do you happen to use external micro SD and are you saving pictures to the external micro SD?

Yep, using external SD and saved the photo to the external SD. I tried removing the external SD and save the photos directly to the phone, but it happens as well (the hang problem) =\

and yes, it's a G version =]

It happens often at times and it does not at times. Gonna do a factory reset and update the phone after I'm home. If it does not work then I'm going to send it to a service centre.

I heard that we're supposed to get a SMS from Samsung to authenticate our e-warranty right? I bought my phone from a 3rd party seller and he took my information but I've received no such SMS. Is the SMS important?

I didn't notice there's a 2.3.6. I suppose we update our phone via Kies? Never tried it before. Gotta try it when I can then. Thanks for the insight! =D
