just got my SG2 yesterday. been reading around. and reading and reading... coz the last phone i flashed was a winMo like 2 years back.
will try my hands with android but am real noob on this. for now i wanna stick to all stock and ori for 1 month to observe the diff between stock and custom SG2

but 1 thing that get to my nerve is whenever use camera to snap 5-10 shots. phone rear and front got warm and kinda hot. it's 36'C from the app reading. any cure?

there is a type of screen protector tht resists human fat one dunno call what b... something. any one try those?

hi guys, been doing lots of reading here and getting too much info to crunch is making me suffocated all awesome info and great experienced shared... nice.... but the tread is moving so fast and hard to catch up.

FYI.
1. bought my SGS 2 on 13th Dec, it's G version and it comes with 2.3.6 and DZKJ2.
2. I used the Sygic GPS thingy, laucnh it and it locked GPS in no time like 10secs.

ok, here's some noob questions i have:
1. ROM vs Kernel vs Firmware ?? reading through the threads, it's a bit confusing for a noob to understand when i flash, which one to flash? when i read some KL2, KL3 thingy wht's that?
2. CWM - i do the 3 button combo and it goes into this CWM. so it's preloaded to the phone? sometime i read "you need to install CWM.. " hmmm?
3. Don't you guys use 3rd party launcher? i am still very stock, so i used the AW launcher and it's quite nice with tons of customization. but does it actually degrade performance and battery? or instead of using launcher, just flash to other ROM? kernel? firmware? heck.. am confuse..

G version reporting

it comes with 2.3.6 for me, 1 week old, so far so good except below:
1. phone reboot once by it self
2. happened once, phone off to charge battery until full. boot in and see it's 98%
3. camera hang on a first few usage. now seems to be OK.

next task is to root and flash i guess.

hi, how do i set facebook to only sync and get message, notification when i am on WiFi?
when i am at work, i don't have wiFi and i don't need those instant notification when i am on 3G (limited data plan )

say if i bought the app in my previous phone but not with my gmail a/c.
now in my new phone SG2, can i use that gmail a/c download and install tht app. and later on login with my own gmail?

any pointer hot to disassociate gmail a/c from phone after i root later on?
G version, not sure 2.3.6 can use the doomLord method to root or not.

i am using sygic trial and it's pretty impressive GPS lock in like 5-10secs and can use to navigate d.
i tried papago on SG1 before, almost as good, but sygic don't have the real photo the so call 3D view at junction.

how do you guys charge ur phone while you are using GPS? with the USB cable directly? or the cigarate-USB charger adapter?

guys, my 1 week old G version have some issue with the camera, need help, please advice.

1. open cam, snap 1 shot.. hang. no response to back button. press on home button and it jump to home but back end cam still running. so i exit the app there.
2. thought the cam app is ended, put my phone back in to pocket and after 5 mins, can feel the warm from the screen at my thigh :~
3. soft reboot the phone and it cool down.

p/s: sometime open other app with cam like fx cam or cam 360, will encounter "error connected to cam"

any clue what i have to do next?

just bought? why is the basedband not something DKJZ2 ? and kernal also kinda diff..

err... how to do factory reset with CF kernel?
i tot factory reset can be done by certain way, like from the recover mode menu, from phone setting, from phone dial pad with the correct input #.
need to use ODIN?

the more i read, the more i got confuse...
i am still stockkk....

i want to get root 1st and foremost right? so i read and understand guide from @creezalird for G version.
but then i read about CF-root, which will not only give you root, but also topbox or boxsomthing...
but then it said CF-root only for works for certain ROM.. pening d..

then last last like all the sifu said, ask yourself why you need to root?
then my answer is everyone root, so i might as well root so i can follow the thread and join the discussion.. haha..
but ofcoz i know root will have more admin access and more settings to play with from UI to functionality. probably too much to digest for now

we have the same prob but i dont use external SD
G version, fresh from oven. sometime hang sometime not.. even after the OS know its FC, we exit in task manager, somehow the phone will turn warm after the camera hang, until i do a soft reset.

i read quite a few suggestion for a factory reset. gonna do tht if it occur again,

guys, FYI.
after factory reset my out of the box I9100G (2.3.6), so far camera no more hang. try snap and instant review, snap few photo in a row, use light box all seems OK finger cross...

oh btw, after factory reset, i lost the nice samsung song any idea how to get it back? music player is totally blank unlike before reset got 2 songs i think.

guys, how to lock a folder or in fact lock the external SD card? is that a way to do that?
