any news on when we getting delivery for the car ?
i've paid booking fee, i've got a loan, but apparently cant proceed until the car is at the dealer , because the loan agreement needs the vehicle chassis number.
did your SA update you on delivery of the car? i asked proton on fb and they said its 2 months. sad.gif

the manual and normal auto has a different engine, the much less powerful engine.
the cvt has the more powerful engine. and its the version that all the advertisments are harping about.

exactly. if they want , they can just tune the cfe engine for different flavors maa.. like how merc tunes its 1.8 litre turbocharged engine to offer c180,c200 .
of course, if proton tunes the cfe to produce more torque than what it is now. then the gb has to change as well. punch cvt3 can only handle up to 215 Nm of torque...

why are the exoras with timing belt and not timing chain? at what intervals to change and price?
*
timing belt can usually last for 100k, but you should change it once it hits 70-80k. if im not wrong,, timing belt plus labor comes to between 350 to 400.

actually this is among the reason i'm scared of buying proton. my 7 years old myi have no problem whatsoever. my cousin who had his saga blm for only 3 month, suddenly his car cannot start (luckily he's at home that time) and need to be towed. turns out its just something simple (according to the proton SC, but I forgot what it is)..
*
i've been using the gen2 for years and my mileage is now more than 200k. never had a problem. as long as i service and change what needs to be changed when the time comes.

yup, i know not all proton had problems.. but it seems (from my experience at least), my friends/families who owned proton always will have something more to complain, rather than those who bought perodua.. I think the problem is more to the QC problem on proton part, is it?
*
hard to say i guess. i do agree that in the past, their qc was non existent. but i've also noticed , since dsz took over. there has been marked improvement in all aspects...
so..

but i do have an issue with their sc's . hard to find a decent one. so, for my current gen2. i send to my friend to service. and to take care off.

Check out my review on the Proton Saga FLX 1.3 standard variant: http://www.simonhar.com/2012/01/driven-pro...aga-flx-13.html
Some of my friends' Saga has minor to no problem, but my dad's Saga is below average in terms of quality sad.gif Proton Exora is a good one, but Saga... hmm...
*
you realize, the issues you raised on your review,, its not qc problem right ? qc would be, if after a week, the remote doesnt work. or the button on the remote is missing. not different color /size button just because you are used to the old one.

My family own proton cars for more than 15 years. My family got iswara, 3 wira, 2 waja CPS, new saga....so far no problem. We travel from kelantan to Penang, from penang to KL, Johor...just fine. Just stick to the service duration and manual. And don't pandai-pandai go and tune this, that...modify this that...

Not even little bit of plastic like glove box compartment lid etc here and there breaking off? Or something came loose that calls for frequent trip to SC? And one trip to SC is one day leave gone down the drain. Do that several times a year and you ended up with no leave for holiday. These are the thing that worries me.
*
byk sc operate on weekends right ? or, if you cant send it to prtn service centers. you can still send it to authorized service centers. the waiting time is shorter and i find the one i used to send to was a tad more reliable and faster compared to the prtn sc.
