whats the advantage of adding a turbo timer ? you can adjust the boost and increase your horsepower and torque ke ?

Added on January 31, 2012, 9:19 amif by adding a turbo timer, you hope to improve the torque further.. please remember the cvt gearbox is not rated for anything more than 215 Nm ( as per the punchpowertrain webside and product spec for the cvt gb)
so, if you put that in and it increases the torque, you would be killing your cvt gb.

Turbo timer keeps the engine and radiator fan running after ignition off to cool down the engine, not for increasing power.

Added on January 31, 2012, 10:21 amUnless its a boost controller.

tyres need to be balanced properly. GtRadials are not exactly the best in the market.

i suspect swapping these to michelins or yokohamas and getting a reliable tyre man to do balancing would resolve the issue.

SAT is to simulate 6/7 virtual gears. the fuel consumption is slightly higher because the engine will rev higher before it 'changes' gear . you can imagine it as limiting the cvt to only 7 fixed ratios instead of the infinite amount of gear ratios that cvt is capable and famous for...
paultan had a video that he did for a saga flx that shows the difference between the two under a 0-100 accelaration

QUOTE(kochin @ Feb 8 2012, 04:16 PM)
seems like most are getting circa 10 to 11 l/100km mileage.
guess it's normal lah then.

when for my 1st service liao.
not too happy about their SC at all. my 1st bill came close to RM200. it involves the usual oil change (3l of 0/30 and 1 l of 0/40). i ask why mix, they just claim that 0/30 oil does not come in 4l package and they do not have 1l package too. i ask them whether normal or not and safe or not, they say yes wor....
and also rm68 for magnatec which is suppose to clean the engine?
i think it's very expensive for 1st service. gulp!
and the buzzer sound i highlighted, they said it's normal also. wtf! it definitely does not sound normal to me.
but i give up since it's minor issue.
while driving these past few days, i decided to screw it, i drive more aggresively liao since the turbo is really satisfying to drive. anything below 90km/h is really no oomph as the bold brings me up to speed really really quick.
the other day i was driving back a 7 years old nissan sentra. feels completely no power lah.

interesting. so, recomended oil is /30 ?

I checked the service manual, for the cfe, the service interval is every 10k.this is based on their recomended oil, 10/30... Can anyone else confirm.. Got my car today... Happy with it......

Not that.my oci has always been 10k minimun for my gen2 becausethat whats was recomended back then... But prtn sc always push 5k interval....

Added on February 9, 2012, 9:41 ama quick review after a few hours of driving it.

i'll focus on certain quirks that i find :
- the side mirror adjustment seems to be limited somewhat, seems like the mirror gets slightly stuck in the housing. something that i might raise later.
- the small glass at the a pillar is a bit annoying ( for me) as i can see the road lines from there , but the angles means its close enough that the lines goes by fast, which makes my eyes tired.
- the rear view mirror seems a bit short.but it still gets the job done...
the seat belt isnt height adjustable ( gen2 has this feature)
-reserve fuel ( amount of fuel left in the tank when the fuel empty light comes on ) is 8 litres. which is quite a lot . the car theoretically can go for another 50-70km before needing to fuel up. thats like from kl to seremban ?cant they have made it standard,, 5 litres are your reserve fuel...
- fc is now slightly on the high side... 13l/100km ...
pros -
- they have improved the car nvh as compared to the gen2.
- it feels effortless when driving.
-taking corners, very limited body roll, i remember my kia carnival was all over the place.

- the sound of turbo spooling is quite addictive...

i like the behaviour of the car... it can crawl at below 60km/h but once the turbo kicks in.... its a different beast altogether.

I plan to use 5w-30 fully sync for my 1st service. So my oil nd to change every 5k km? How about if I use until I feel engine is lazy?

until ur engine feels lazy ? i suggest you to follow the suggested service interval if you want to be able to claim for warranty for anything down the road.

i was waiting for their gold, but needed the car urgently so i took a white.

just now i surveyed proton service centre near my house. told them i was just surveying, so they showed me their service package. first service only oil+oil filter + drain nut. the oil they use is 10-40 . i told them the service book says 10-30, they said no lah, exora usually uses 10-40. i said the listed oil is 10-30, then i asked can bring my own oil or not. they said can, but bring the ones that are available in the market, dont bring the ones that are sold by direct selling and stuff like that. so i said ok lor. but im surprised that they want to push 10-40 when its clearly stated 10-30 in the service book
you guys also kene this ?

well, according to the service manual and the owners manual, its 10-30 less u risk voiding your warranty. and since the cfe was codeveloped by lotus engineering, i dont think those guys are dumb. so, regardless i'll stick to the factory pour.

my fc. for 50 bucks is around 320km.

serviced my car at pj volcar sdn bhd. they are an authorized service center in paramount garden/seapark area.

the moment i walked in and i asked about engine oil. they said. this car must use 10-30.dlm buku wrote 10-30 sl rated. so that is what we pour. even exora cps factory pour is also 10-30 sl rated. ( so i'm relieved.)
on another thought. 10-30 sl rated means, later after a year, i can switch to lm ss mos2 10-30 as that is sl rated.

if based on the old gen2 service manual. heavy/severe usage means always hitting the redline, and driving in excess of 170km/h . if this is the case, then even the service interval for the gb is earlier
