Heyaa Guys and Gals,

Seems like there are quite a number of budding DJ's here. Anyone of you interested in becoming a DJ?

We're currently looking for 1 or 2 more DJ to assist us in the club. Currently there are 2 of us, but I have a full time career in the day, so I can only come in on weekends.

We are not the owner of the club, but we have taken over the contract to provide DJs to this club.

Here's a brief run down of the job and what we're looking for. I'll not divulge too much details here, so feel free to PM me if you are interested.

Job Description and Responsibilities :-

- The club is a feng tau cheong (underground dance club) in the Klang Valley area. You must have an open mind for the music. Genre's played are usually feng-taoish english and chinese remixes. Though at times we drop some hardstyle, hard techno or hard house to spice things up. But those genres aren't the focal point of the night.

- Operating hours are from 1am- 7am Mon-Sat. 2 DJ's per night, on an hourly shift. You have a break for 1 hour between each set.

- You will be entitled to a salary, plus a Point System (you get a certain percentage from the service charge), payable on month end. Amount of salary will depend on how many nights you have worked in a month. Points will be totalled up by club management at the end of the month.

- This is not Zouk,Aloha or other mainstream club. No EPF, No socso, no employment letter, no payslip. If the club closes, you better have a back up plan for youself. Though we shall commit to pay you for the nights you have worked, even if it has to come out from our own pockets.

- Payment will be paid by us directly, banked in directly to your bank account.

- In the event of a raid on any night you have worked, you will still be paid in full for that night, even if the club closes early. However, if you are caught taking illegal subtances, you are on your own, and we will NOT bail you out. We highly advice that you stay CLEAN.

- Work will commence in July. You do not have to commit the duration you will work, if you leave halfway thru, we will pay you what you have worked, and we shall find a replacement. It's ok if you wanna give it a go for one month.

Here's what we're looking for :-

- No club experience neccesary, but you should know the basics of mixing. You must be able to hold a mix, no trainwrecks (lari kuda), no dead air and you should be able to improvise in certain situations (e.g. CD taking too long to eject and the end of the track is apporaching). We do not have the budget if you're an experienced DJ, so we're specifically looking for new DJ's who are looking to play out.

- We will guide you. If you're unemployed, studying, on holiday, term breaks, active at night and itching to play out after playing in the bedroom for so long with only your cat or dog as your audience, then this is the job for you.

- MUST be 21 and Above.

- Ability to talk on the mic. We're not expecting an MC, but you should not be mic-shy. Know when and when NOT to rock the mic. No language preference, you can
rock the mic in English, Chinese or Malay.

- *Important* You must show your own iniative in sourcing for your own tracks. We will NOT provide you with any tracks at the start. Over time, we might share some with you.

- You will use only the equipment the club provides. You are expected to be familiar with the CDJ's and mixers. You have to adapt to different models, as the models change over time due to raids (sometimes they confiscate the equipment). So no excuses like "Oh, Im not familiar with this CMX3000 because i only use a CDJ800" and stuff like that.

- Strictly no bringing your own equipment. No Laptops, no SSL, No VDJ. Though you can bring your own headphones. Those club headphones can be smelly at times.

- There will be a soundman to handle the amps, compressors and other sound system, so no need to worry about that.

- Good PR skills will be a plus. It would be good if you can mingle with the regulars between your sets. If you can drink, all the better.

- IF you have sensitive hearing, please be cautioned that the noise levels at the club may damage your hearing.

If you're interested, PM me and I'll provide you with more details. Please prepare a recorded mix of half an hour, if you do not have the equipment, we can work on getting you an audition.

Only serious applicants please.

Thanks you. Hope i didn't miss anything out.

This is for a club in the Klang Valley area. We are still working on getting more contracts, but i feel that wouldn't happen so soon. We're taking baby steps.

You won't be going to any lock up unless you are tested positive during the on-the-spot urine test. Those "herd everyone into the lorry and bring to the police station" are over a few years back. They have portable test kits now.

Ok to all guyz who want to learn to be a DJ , Well personally I like Djing and not that I want to be a DJ or anything like that , Another thing is that I dont know how to use hardware nor do i know where in KL i can go to learn that but more importantly i dont want to bother myself to learn that.

If you want to just have fun on your laptop and maybe impress your friends , random chicks that show up at you place , try a software DJ like Native Instruments Traktor DJ , I personally love it , You can DJ just using the keyboard the response is amzing , Some people like Virtual DJ , I dont , it lacks compatibility with all LAptops , More over Traktor Dj has 4 tracks and a boat load of effects , I made a 47 minute Trance Mix using just the software , if you want to hear it , just so you know the power you can find it at

http://www.esnips.com/web/djphez

So just go to native instruments website , and download the demo , And see if you like it if you do then get the whole software from http://www.magesy.com/ , Remember that the software is based on try before you buy philosophy , buy it if you like it.

peace

hahahaha like choong said, so random.. u a native instrument agent izzit?

Lol, I understand man. But there aren't many clubs that specifically plays techno and trance now in KL. Gone are the Movement, Backroom and Atmosphere days sad.gif

Feng feng is a good starting point if anyone's looking for club exposure, physically gruelling and you have learn to deal with all sorts of customers. Good experience and stepping stone to move on to other genres.

The tenminmix is a competition online. If I win I am gonna play at Mos radio. But lemme tell you, its very very hard to win. I think my set has a 1% chance of winning only. Yes the dj's there are very very good.
