Hello guys,
Man it's good to see at least a thread that is dedicated to DJ-ing , turntablism.
I'm a malaysian that been in Australia for the past 6 years. Of cuz I have been back every year
but now i'm fully moving back for good and it's pretty sad to see a dead turntablism scene.

I'm no pro scratch DJ or what so ever but I'm hoping to share my experience and looking to do something like DJ TUTOR on youtube but of cuz more of the malaysian local style of talking etc. not so "angmo" feeling.

I'm only at par for scratching and hopefully to look for more ppl to do more advance scratching/mixing. I already got couple of ppl onboard and if you interested and got something to offer toward this "project" just keep in touch around here.

Few familiar 'names' i see here .. dj Sars, Ryo , leng .. all from previous DJ Ideaz's website .

I'll see you guys back in malaysia in couple of weeks

anyway my gears are

2 x stanton STR-150
1 x Rane TTM56 Scratch Mixer
Mixvibes Pro 6 Digital Vinyl Software
Sennheiser Headphones 25-1 II headphones
**Waiting to get New Laptop for my software
**Waiting to get Sanyo VPC-HD1000 for the "project" i mentioned

I'm also looking fwd to organising a DJ meet up somewhere around KL and hopefully a jamming session. Almost had one last time but couldn't get a proper place to host it.

Last but my least that I hope everyone will come together and educate each other and share the knowledge of DJ-ing.

Cheers.

from ur signiture, ur using mixvibes yeah? how is it? and how r those soundcard ur using?
*
westokan , I'm using MixVibes Pro 6. It can support up to 4 turntable using one laptop but you have to get a 8 in -8out sound card. I'm using the ESI 4-in-6-out. So I can only run two turntables.

One thing good about mixvibes is that you are not bound to one price. You can have a very expensive setup which cost more than serato
or you can have a setup for only half the price of serato. So it all come down to your sound card. ESI u46DJ the company that has deal with mixvibes. another newer version to that soundcard is the U46MK2 which is a Mixvibes edition of the same sound card. better paint job, same spec.

www.mixvibes.com for more info.

westokan,I'm not sure where to get it in Malaysia. All I can say is it's hard to get. I even having problem getting the timecode replacement here in australia. I'm asking my friend to get it for me from US. I think you can try amazon.com for mixvibes. I think they now do post oversea.

erm maybe you would want to try torq. Sinamex is the dealer for m-audio torq. so easier to get support and spare parts .

leng - I turned 24 last September and before you ask, no I don't have rich parents neither do they know about my cars cause I don't want them to worry. You know how parents are when it comes to sports cars. I don't have a job as in a 9-5 thing, but I do own various businesses of which the studio would be the newest venture. Got my capital from playing the stock market.

redbustop - hahah yeah sure can lah teach me some new tricks

*impressive* rclxms.gif we need more ppl like you to help expand the DJ scene. Actually the DJ scene is big enough, I thinking turntablism scene.

As for you , you got the financial to make it happen. As for some other DJs here, I'm sure they have the skill but not the resources, and as for me ... i only got my 2cents ..smile.gif

*me and my 2 cents, me and my two cents*

you have to understand one thing is that class are teaching you the fundamental of mixing, beat counting etc. no matter what genre you are playing. there is no specific DJ that teach only hardhouse or hard trance course. It's general DJ course.

Scratching can never be sien. It can only be sien when you cannot learn anymore scratches in the world. and for that person , only one exist. DJ Q-Bert.

beat matching is basic, scratching is more technical and harder to pick up.check out DJ TuTor on youtube. You will learn something from him

yea, but he only can teach most of the mixing and hardware reviews. he can't teach much of scratching because he's not a scratch DJ. I want to try to do a "malaysian" style DJ-Tutor on youtube when i get back. Hopefully I get enough support becuz I'm not that pro but i'm trying to get pros to jump on board an help me out wit this project.

Hei guys and gurls, ever thought of making a malaysia internet radio?

So that bedroom djs can play and broadcast it through web, not everyone has the opportunity to play in clubs or bars anyway..Just my opinion, maybe we can make it happened.
*
To host only one dedicated malaysia internet radio is almost impossible. But if you want , you can always host it yourself. couple of years back it was a big thing. Hosting with winamp and couple of software , you can broadcast from your PC .But it take times and quite limited to words of mouth for the advertising. If someone want to come up with some money, they can pay for server to host these. and mixes can be played 24/7 online. Want to take it to another level? then you can become the host DJ on it.

sars, i'm back for good from australia. so i'm trying to get to know the ppl in the scene. Seems to be very small and i ended up finding alot of interests in this forum. I guess this thread been quite active now. I'm still waiting for my turntables to arrive from aust. Should be anytime this week now.

who are the teachers are Bionic? oh yea, for those who are interested in mixing Hiphop/RnB .. listen to Hitz.fm @ DJ Fuzz, Skeletor and Jakeman mixes, it's pretty nice mixing and you can get some ideas from there.
