Guys, those with Opty165, how high can you overclock to and what are the memory settings to achieve that overclock?

Same i guess but opteron produce more heat, like 2c-4c more than Athlons.

Stepping?your rig spec? How can you expect us to give you the clock/settings without your rig's spec.

Your stepping 0609 is not good I think. There is an OC database at xtremesystems for all steppings of opterons you can check there.

It's all not the same. You have to tweak to the max in order to know how overclockable your CPU is.

Squall: I think your chip should be good enough for 2.8 to 2.9ghz. However, you might need to use memory divider since 2GB kits are not known to be able to run DDR580 speeds. However, this is just a guide and overclocking is always: Trial and Error.

Taken from Extremesystems:

Known good steppings that are capable of 3ghz:
CCB1E 0550VPMW
CCBWE 0550UPMW (Some are crappy actually)
CCB1E 0605XPMW
CCB1E 0606VPMW
CCB1E 0608MPMW
CCB1E 0609FPAW
CCB1E 0609FPMW
CCBBE 0610DPMW
CCBBE 0615DPMW

Honorable Mention:
CCBWE 0530TPMW (2.9ghz avg.)
CCBWE 0546XPMW (2.85ghz avg.)
CCBWE 0609FPAW (Unconfirmed precise averages, but seems to be 2.8-2.9)

AVOID if you want to hit 2.8ghz+:
CCBWE 0534SPMW
CCBWE 0543TPMW
CCBWE 0546MPMW
CCBWE 0551 (Any packing code) (2.7-2.75ghz 1.55v)
CCBWE 0602 (Any packing code)
CCBWE 0607 (Any packing code) (2.65ghz 1.55v)

Lucky you, my silly Manchester had to be pumped with 1.65V just to reach 2.6ghz. Daily usage is 1.6V for 2.5ghz.
