how MSI got started..
user posted image
In 1986, Mr. Joseph Hsu, the founder of MSI, realized great opportunities in the IT industry and convinced four of his friends (Frank Lin, Jeans Huang, Henry Lu and Kenny Yu) with similar interest and professional skills to establish Micro-Star International - the birth of a legend in Taiwan's IT industry. The five founders all started from scratch with R&D production, marketing, services, product packaging and even shipping. Based on these revolutionary sentiments, MSI's management team has a tacit understanding of business, successfully navigating the industry for over 23 years.

MSI's award-winning line of Notebooks and All-in-One PC are examples of what we can do now that we're outside the box. And with many new innovations on the horizon, our future only looks brighter.

MSI insists on the best and is your innovative partner for life.

from on-paper spec consideration with a very competitive price point, MSI lappy is already poisonous. laugh.gif It will be more poisonous if they could start a custom-made gaming laptop like Sager with good after sale service locally. That would be a direct big and hard slap at the face of Dell Alienware in Malaysia. I only use this brand for a week, but i feel secured seeing their company's representatives like Sanko, MSI-MY are here doing great works for this particular brand. Hoping MSI will come to that, a hardware-customisable brand in the future or come with a very good spec from factory. Either one it would be a real threat to other gaming brands. brows.gif

A great start for a great thread. If only other company would start putting their rep in forums like this, customer would have a very big smile knowing they can reach out easier than calling CS that would take hours and soo many button presses...

Congrats dude!

The next batch of GT780DX is coming next week or latest the following week. And only 6 units due to HDD shortage worldwide. As for the newer generation of GTX580M, we have no plan to bring in it as it cost close to USD300 compared to GTX570M. We won't be bringing the GTX580M in near future.

Tips: if you want to know MSI models in Malaysia. Goto my.msi.com and use the search function. There we have customize the website to show local spec.

Sanko, how much per unit would you expect it to be if MSI My bring the newer GT783 model with GTX580M? Is it the same as US spec with SSD + HDD? Why didn't bring in? Maybe can try bring 2 units 1st. Im sure there's market in Malaysia.

Any good? It's more than good, at least it fulfills our gaming needs. A GTX570m is definitely good enough for high end gaming on the go.

The newer ones coming will be the GT783 that u've mentioned which is limited as far as I know.

And very costly as well, USD2399.

Hmm, about US laptops compared to Asia's, there are not much of a difference. The difference usually lie in the specifications only but they are now very similar.

Look at Msia's model, it's the same as the MSI GT780DX-215US SKU except with the Malaysia model uses the updated i7-2670QM which is better.

MSI MY picked that specs because it is suitable enough for us, in fact, I believe that is a great pick.

Compared to the ASUS G74SX, the GT780DX does bring more performance at a bang for buck.

You won't regret owning this rig, I'm very satisfied with mine biggrin.gif

If you wait some more, it might be an Ivy Bridge upgrade but it will be long.

Not to completely shut down the GTX580M door completely, this is what the best MSI Malaysia can do. Updated in the first post.

GT783 Preorder
After some feedback, we decided to launch a Pre Order for those who wants an ultimate gaming notebook powered by one of the most powerful Graphics Card, GTX580M. As mentioned before, the price for GTX580M is around USD300 more compared to GTX570M. Therefore the price is on the high side. For this pre-order, we will only bring in if it hits 5 units of order. And customer is to pay 50% deposit upfront. After the MOQ is met, the shipment will arrive around 3-4 weeks.

GT783 [17.3", 1920 x 1080, Intel HRV i7-2670, NVIDIA GTX580M 2GB DDR5, 8GB, 750GB 7200RPM, Dynaudio Sound, SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard with Backlight, Win7 Premium] - RM6499

PS: I hope Lowyat.NET is ok with this kind of pre-order as our aim is to fulfill potential customer dream to get a notebook equipped with GTX580M.

GT780DX isnt a high end.. more like close to high end...

It cannot run ultra settings with 40++ FPS in BF3 at all

Most people run lower resolution

Added on December 8, 2011, 3:15 pmHow come malaysia model does not include an SSD ?

Huge different with GTX 570m and GTX 580

http://www.geforce.com/News/articles/intro...580m-mobile-gpu

Hopefully estimated time arrival is before FEB

Xu3r,

With the low clocks, the GT570m allow a lot of space for overclocking. Once overclocked, playing ultra in FHD 1920x1080 will be fine. Not around 40++, but playable smile.gif

I've not tested this myself, but this video might be convincing enough smile.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzLgq1Cm_u0&feature=g-user

From that video, I believe it is not overclocked to the max yet.

For me, it's high end enough. But I guess u're a hardcore 1 eh? wink.gif

So, based on your requirements, u'd go for the GTX580m version right?

Actually, y not just the 750GB version and make your own purchase of SSD? That would be better too, isn't it?

For reliability, you could opt for the Intel 510 or Crucial M4. For speed, you could go for the OCZ SSDs.

I wonder what will the price of the GT783 become if it is stocked with an SSD, it could reach RM7000-7500 shocking.gif

Exactly what lonelywolf90 said. We thought that why not let the consumer decide which SSD to go with.

Haha, cheers! icon_rolleyes.gif

I believe MSI-MY is doing the right thing, letting consumers pick their own SSD would be a better choice.

If you opt for the SSD version of the GT783, it'll most likely be a Transcend 128GB SSD. unsure.gif

Anyway, the 750GB HDD is a Western Digital, just incase any of you is curious. It's a reputable brand, therefore the HDD is reliable smile.gif

RM5399 is the current GT780DX price in Malaysia.

With a GTX580m, it should add another RM900-1000+, a SSD itself with the provided capacity(128GB) would cost almost a thousand. Therefore, how can it be possible to still become around RM6399?

MSI would be at loss this way, haha.. smile.gif

If it was RM6399 with SSD along, I suppose many would grab it. But still, the stock is very limited.

Still it is rarely recommended in the Notebook Recommendation thread. But we will keep trying hard so that it can be a "mainstream" brand to be recommended more often. Looks like we really need to gear up with our design. Finger crossed. doh.gif

Perhaps you guys can try by increasing the publicity of MSI laptops (like what you're doing now?)... Brochures/ flyers would be nice since its very hard to get hands on the pricing and models all this while hmm.gif

Anyway, its very good to see competitive models like the GE620Dx/620Dx-FHD coming up from MSI~ A good start I would say~
Hopefully we'll be able to see more models for the subnotebook category ~

expensive because of of the PROC + GPU + LED FHD right? what mobo it use? how about warranty? if inclusive 3 years premium warranty then considered as superb.

[PF] T.J., thanks for your advice, we will look into it. i'll constantly update the pricing here anyway.

ngkhanmein, msi mobo problem? care to explain more?

ayil, the usual price for GT780DX with GTX570M (the only difference compared to GT783) is RM5399. so the price of GT783 is expensive because of the vga only, which is GTX580M. MSI is actually one of the few brand who manufacture our own notebooks. so the mainboard is manufactured by MSI ourselves. sorry to disappoint you, the warranty is only 2 years.

Sanko @ MSI, I can see you are getting serious now.
I can see a good job done.

I have a suggestion to MSI.
Please deliver the product to the market as early as possible.
I find MSI always late in delivering product.

I hope to see MSI be the first to launch the Ivy Bridge with GTX680 next year.
Many will grab it instead of brands like Sager.
Don't be late comer if you are serious in capturing market share.

Bro Sanko,

maybe you can help answering something.

1) since high end lappie like gt780 so limited stock, if theres problem how to 1-1 warranty or reseller did not practice it?

2) MSI laptop dead pixel policy is how? On the spot check can?

3) Warranty 2yrs, must always send back taiwan? concern is I send back msia MSI, then need send to taiwan will be long =,=

4) Also concern warranty. Is it true that there is warranty seal that dont allow user to open the lappie? If need to upgrade ram, hdd, thermal paste etc, but void warranty?

1. The 1-on-1 only applies for the first 7 days after purchase. If you are facing problem with that you can always refer that to me or MSI-MY. Or directly contact MSI Malaysia office.

2. If newly purchased, we consider it DOA. If after long usage, then standard is 3 dead pixels. But still, it's case by case basis. If you got one very standout dead pixel and the location of it is in the middle, we will still accept.

3. We have our own authorized service provider. Therefore servicing/repairing is done locally. The parts is from Taiwan.
http://my.msi.com/service/msinewmap/

4. MSI-MY actually made an announcement about this. We allow Memory and HDD upgrade and if the seal is tempered, we still accept. We will only check whether there's really an upgrade performed once the seal is tempered. If yes, we still accept the warranty.

Sanko, thanks for your this superb informative thread. You saved me~!

I almost bought an alienware but luckily for your thread, I bought a much much higher spec gaming lap top; GT780DX that under my budget~!

I love it~! It is fast and solid build. For this price, I got everything that I always wanted.

So thanks again, Sanko. You are my saviour~!

Xu3r,
I hope you understand the the situation here. As predicted, the reception for the GT783 is not high. We initially didn't want to bring it in. But finally decided to do a pre-order with 5 units as the MOQ. Without pre-order, i guess our disti is not willing to bring it in. If stucked with 5 units of 6k+ product, it won't be good for anyone of us. And i guess 5 units of MOQ is pretty fair. It's just an option we created for users a change to own GT783 rather to closed the door straight away.

emy_xvidia, irangan,
Thanks for the support. I deeply hope the notebook won't fail both of you in present and future. That's the best news for MSI Malaysia. Cheers.

A big company will never accommodate to the market if there is very little demand for a product unless you ready to pay premium price for it.

You always have the option to get it from oversea ma. Of course paying premium price and risky warranty coverage for it. Give and take lo.

Okay what is the premium price? How much more?

Buying laptops from overseas other than countries near you , example singapore is okay.

But buying from US or Australia are high cost on shipping fee and no warranty for malaysia... even they do only 1 yr warranty part warranty only not full warranty .

Plus the things they provide are also not in asia version , the power cable and the adapter... is not 230w or 220w. Most of them are 180w which will interfere with our socket

My unit is from US, I have no problem with the power cable, just replace it to the UK version that we are normally using. You can easily find cables in computer shops and electronic shops.

Btw, the GT780DX comes with the 180W power brick, the power cable is the same that is used for computer desktop power supplies, it's definitely very common and easy to find.

Ya, the disadvantage of buying overseas is the lack of the extra 1 year warranty in Malaysia, I suppose that's all hmm.gif

Since not many are willing to afford the GT783, u might as well just order overseas smile.gif

So far there are 2 versions of the GT783R

a) with 128GB SSD, 750GB HDD and 16GB RAM (~2499USD)

b) with 2 750GB HDD and 12GB RAM (~2299USD)

Shipping fee costs that much? Wow.. U ought to requote that, mine wasn't that expensive and it included insurance..

USD2299 would be around RM7250+ currently, US currency went up, not good for u XD

Y not stick to the GT780DX? I believe it's powerful enough, how high end you want to go?

A Sager or Alienware M18x could satisfy your needs if you're really into the hardcore gaming. SLI GPU man!

Dear chew3344

We have dealers in Alor Star but unfortunately they do not carry this model.
I suggest you to go down to Penang to get that.
If you insist of getting it from Kedah, we can arrange for you but you need to pay deposit in advance as they will not keep this model in hand.

The suggested retail price for GE620DX Non Full HD is RM3099.

Dear Snowguy2068

I believe gadet zone have only the non Full HD model. Please call them again to confirm.

However, if one who are desperate to own this beast and would not like to wait for MOQ, you need to pay a PREMIUM price to purchase it.

GT783 [17.3", 1920 x 1080, Intel HRV i7-2670, NVIDIA GTX580M 2GB DDR5, 8GB, 750GB 7200RPM, Dynaudio Sound, SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard with Backlight, Win7 Premium] - RM6499 (Pre Order with MOQ)
GT783 [17.3", 1920 x 1080, Intel HRV i7-2670, NVIDIA GTX580M 2GB DDR5, 8GB, 750GB 7200RPM, Dynaudio Sound, SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard with Backlight, Win7 Premium] - RM7499
(Pre Order without MOQ)

Note: Please take note that it's only your choice whether you want to purchase with MOQ or without MOQ. MSI Malaysia do not advice one to go for the non-MOQ option as the extra cost you are paying most of it will go to DHL and processing fee. So don't take this as a wrong way.

[PF] T.J.,
Initially MSI Malaysia does not plan to bring in GT783, due to the high price and it's difficult to convince our disti to take in order. But we thought that there may be some enthusiast out there who may want to purchase it, therefore come out with a Pre Order strategy rather than shutting the GT783 door completely. The MOQ is 5 units where customer need to pay upfront deposit. Disti will be more than willing to order if this is the case. But lately due to the MOQ is pretty "high" we received some complaints/request that one still unable to purchase GT783. Therefore we have decided, there's another option for those you are really desperate and willing to pay the premium price.

So it means there's a whole lot more demand than initially expected? That's good news yo laugh.gif
So now there's only 5 units of GT783 up for pre-order?

Sanko, excellent job!
I can see you have done a lot of "human touch" here, as a vendor.
I think it is very important to have someone with technical know-how to assist our fellow members here at LYN forum.
If my memory serves me right, you are a good overclocker. I believe you can give a good advice to our members here.

I personally think the price of GT783 is a steal. Certainly the best in its class (with GTX580 GPU).
I would have bought the GT783 from you (without 2nd thought) if I didn't get my Sager 8170 many months ago.
Nevertheless I'm looking forward to buying an MSI notebook in near future (that would be ultraportable Ivy Bridge with decent discrete GPU, I believe).
Well done!! Keep up the good work!

Opss, not much ppl know i'm from OverClocking Scene actually. Haha, old timer here. Thanks for your compliment (i take it as a compliment biggrin.gif) and support. Actually i'm pretty new in the notebook scene. Been active mostly in Hardware and OverClocking. Technical wise, i'll try my best as notebook is still a finished product, there's always a little more complication compared to DIY. Too bad that at this moment MSI is not going to produce ultrabook, last i heard from my PM. Thanks again for your kind words again and again. Really appreciate it.

Not necessary Ultrabook.
I'm looking into something to replace my Acer 3820TG. Anything faster and lighter than Acer 3820TG will do. nod.gif
Please bring us more good products from MSI. I'll check on your product list after Ivy Bridge releases.

GT783 Preorder - Updated
After some interest shown here in Lowyat.NET, MSI Malaysia decided to bring in 3 units of GT783 and at the same time still honouring our Pre-Order pricing. As mentioned before, the cost for GTX580M is around USD300 more compared to GTX570M. Therefore the pricing is on the high side. Customer has to pay 30% deposit upfront (non-refundable) to join this Pre-Order without the need of achieving MOQ. ETA of the GT783 is end of February taking Chinese New Year holiday into consideration.

GT783 [17.3", 1920 x 1080, Intel HRV i7-2670, NVIDIA GTX580M 2GB DDR5, 8GB, 750GB 7200RPM, Dynaudio Sound, SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard with Backlight, Win7 Premium] - RM6499 (Pre Order)

Riddhy,
Forwarded your query to PM, need some time to make a decision. As for the GT783, we are going to bring in 3 units only. Previously we did not intend to bring it unless there's 5 confirmed order at RM6,499. So now, anyone can enjoy the pre-order price without the need of 5 confirmed orders. Once it landed in Malaysia, and there's no pre-order confirmed, it will be priced at RM6,999 SRP.

Hi Sanko,

i believe GT780 can get for 5399 which include free upgrade to 16GB (maybe just promo) and i see from first page GT783 different is it use gtx580m which is around usd300 more expensive. I give you rm1000, translate to around 6399, with lesser RAM. (you can still argue its promo mayb for the GT780) SRP 6999, cool.

Can get some freebies or promo with that price from MSI hq please? Free SSD will be great.

BAlm,
I'll be very transparent here. The 16GB free upgrade in PC Fair is by the dealer itself. So they forked out their own budget to cover the extra cost, which means lower profit. Even after PC Fair, you may see some dealer give out freebies or free upgrades to up sales their stock. As for the SRP for GT783 @ RM6,999 the reason behind is that we are giving better margin to dealers/disti for them to bring it in. To keep a stock around RM6k and the margin is around the same as RM4-5K stock, it won't work. Also, SPR is just a Suggested Retail Price, we won't be surprise if dealers is going to sell it at RM6,499 end of the day. The problem here is, whether will any dealer order a GT783 to keep in the retail store? There's someone who got his GE620DX-675 @ RM3,399 while the SRP is RM3,499.

PS: Btw, welcome to Lowyat.NET Forum. Glad that MSI Notebook encourage you to register here.

Riddhy,
As i mentioned earlier, hope you will be patience a little as it's a special order so our PM need some time to make the decision. As for the GT783, nope... there's no Blu-Ray. The reason behind this is because when we launched GT780/GT683 (non-dx) version, a lot of members here feedback that they would rather ditched the Blu-Ray for a better pricing. This is what we did for GT780DX/GT683DX.

GTX570 is approximately USD110 higher than GTX560.
GTX580 is approximately USD475 higher than GTX560.
The exchange rate is USD1:MYR3.15

So, the price for GT783 is approximately MYR1150 higher than GT780.
The price quoted by Sanko is very reasonable.

If you want a better price, you can actually get few people to join the bulk-purchase (to meet the 5 units of MQC).
Try PM forum member, cel1987. I think he wants a unit of GT783.

I think RJtech quoted lower because they don't need to pay for the name of "Sager".

for sager np8170 i can even get it at 6k including shipping with these specs

i7 2630qm+500gb 7200 rpm+gtx 580m+4x2g = 8 gb ram and everything else basic with no os

and for msi barebones i can get at 5k with shipping with the same spec as above because for gaming laptop a basic quad core+ gtx 580m is the only thing that matters i hope sanko quotes me a better price than this

Riddhy, you can share it at Sager thread on the sites you can get Sager 8170 with GTX580 @ MYR6K.
It would help users to weigh the decision.

I'm interested to buy a CR460 entry level notebook.

From MSI website, I can see only drivers available for Windows 7. Any idea if I can run Windows XP on this machine? With all the components working properly?

Thanks

I think no issues.
I checked and you should be able to get drivers for chipset, graphic, ethernet and sound (those are the core parts).

No idea on the card reader, BT and webcam. You should be able to get it.

hi, i just bought ge620dx-675my

but i found something "weird" going on with the display stuff....

when i run some software, especially 3ds max...
the screen will "flashing"...

not just 3ds max, sometime i open up a normal window, i maximize its size, but the content inside it wont automatically expand...

when have 2 window overlap with each other, the window on top will leave a "trace" on the bottom menu...

it seem hard to explain, so i had record it down and posted on youtube,
hope someone could help me with this T,T

thanks

have you tried to set your 3ds max program to run using the 635M in the nVidia Control panel?

right click desktop> select NVIDIA Control Panel> under 3D Settings> Manage 3D Settings> Select Tab "Program Settings" and ADD your Program. >2. Select "High-performance NVIDIA processor" > Apply

hope this helps. smile.gif

hiozneko,
PMed you regarding your case. Cheers.

cofin,
The new stock of GT780DX has been shipped out this Friday via air. Next week you should be able to get it. If you need help to secure it, kindly PM me.

Grey.J,
Still having the issue?

fat16,
For Mainboard and VGA, it's 3 years warranty. For Notebook, 2 years with the first is Global Warranty. Some of the netbook only 1 year.

You need to use modded inf file to proceed driver installation.

It won't shows in the dxdiag, check it on Device Manager - Display Adapters.

i had add 3ds max into the 3D list in nvidia panel for max performance, it's still the same.

as i had search in the internet for this issue, had modded the inf file, had fixed the installation issue.

so currently the problem is i am having issue with graphic display, for ge620dx-675, it's impossible that it seem laggy when open photoshop cs5, isn't it?O,o

when using 3ds max, it's even worst...when i rotate, it lag for a few sec, screen flashing,flickering,ghosting... ><"

i had search the nvidia forum, this issue had actually occur for more than 6 month,
yet still havent resolved =="

its the nvidia driver issue

My problem has been solved using the this method.

I too had the same issues and i am using the AutoCad 2012, Win 7 64bit.

Install the nvidia GT 540M beta driver 275.27

Open Nvidia control panel and select as follows....

3D Settings - Manage 3D settngs - Global settings - Preferred graphics processor - Set to High performance Nvidia processor

3D Settings - Set physX confirguration - Select Geforce GT 540M

All of the above isnt new but the next step is what solved it for me.

Control Panel - Personalisation - Select a Windows 7 Basic Theme.

This turns the windows AERO interface off.

Windows uses the Aero for all windows through the intel card.

So in cad the conflict comes beacause although you have selected the nvidia card, as soon as a windows command is executed it uses the aero interface and therefore reverts back to the intel card.

Zoom operation cad crashes.

Not sure if the explantion is completely factural but its worked for me and that was the way i understood it.

Give it a whirl. smile.gif

Dear Grey.J

I already forward this case to our HQ last week but due to CNY, they maybe reply me a little late.
I will try to update you with anything next week. But if this is due to NVDIA driver, im sorry that it may take longer.

Please do answer my question below

1 - Right after you take out your unit from the box, what is the 1st thing you did?

2- Did you plug the battery along every time you using the A/C power?

Hi MSI-MY

thanks for replying smile.gif .

answers to your question:

1. plug the battery into the unit, then put it on my cooler pad, plug AC adapter to laptop and turn on > then just like other laptop running first time, installation... initialization, but the battery show 98% charge when i boot into windows (then i install software, hwmonitor is one of first few software i installed, to monitor the temperature as i heard the device did great job in cooling and it showed my battery was 4% wear)

2. i use with AC power most of the time, but there is a time i wanted to force my battery to charge so i drain the battery until 50% and charge again, then charging stop at 99%. Another time is happened when i sent the laptop back to the shop, i turned it on for a few minutes to show them the battery wear level.

** btw, i put it wrongly by saying discharge rate. i'm actually referring to the battery wear level. unsure.gif

sorry if this is normal for MSI laptop, as my previous thinkpad and vostro doesn't behave like this and my friends' vaio is still showing 0% wear even he have the battery and ac adapter connected to the laptop for the pass 3 years, it just worry me so much and start to ask here and there, seeking for an answer icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Thank you.

Hi,

I am planning to get a GE620DX but I want to change the HDD to an SSD but I found out that it would void the warranty if I want to change it... or I saw from one of the threads changing memory and hdd doesn't void the warranty??

can I get some clarification on this from MSI-MY or Sanko?

Dear All

For your information, the "Warranty Void" sticker has it purpose.
Initially, once the sticker is torn, the warranty will void.

But, to ease our customer, that would like to change/add HDD or RAM, we will still accept unit that

1- Harddisk changed
2- RAM Changed/Added

If the sticker is torn but no HDD and RAM upgrade found, the unit will not be covered by warranty. It is best for you to ask your dealer (that you bought your laptop from) and upgrade it for you.

Hope this is clear.

the dealer told me that it will void the warranty though if I want to change my hdd... I find it best if I can swap it myself, I am not a pro but I have done some upgrading on my desktop so I know a little bit about technical stuff and from what I researched on the web I can see it is quite simple to swap it anyways...

MSI-MY or Sanko has phone no that I can call to enquire about the MSI purchases or can I go to a physical shop to purchase it?? do they sell the MSI notebooks or just distributor/representatives of MSI?

Dear ruffaz

Normally for notebook RMA it will take 7 working days. But there are certain cases that may take more than 2 weeks.
Example of the cases are parts shortage, compatibility issue, etc.

Dear pcbase

Im sorry, there was a mistake on the list. We will fix it shortly.
The CR650X that comes with E450, the warranty is 2years. just as before.

And yes there was an increase of laptop pricing end of last year. Im sorry that this is unavoidable due to HDD shortage. We still facing this kind of issue until now.

Hey guys, I have the MSI GT783 with the intel 2nd gen 2670 processor. Would it be possible for me to change the wireless card into the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103(3x3). Isit compatible and able to be supported by the laptop? Would changing the wireless card void the warranty. Is the warranty by MSI AU any different than the one in Malaysia? icon_question.gif

hi, just bought MSI X460DX yesterday... during got the notebook, i attached the battery on x460dx and switch on the notebook for some random checking before paid the money.

Switch off the notebook, taking back the unit to home. Charge the battery without switch on the notebook for more than 6 hours. Today, i running the HWmonitor and it show battery wear level 3%

user posted image

It is normal for MSI notebook new battery shows wear level 3%..should it be 0%? ...really fast showing wear level even just one time using the battery?

There are same question like this before by one forumer, but dont see the answer..

Im confused about a few things for x460dx

1, I saw there's a SSD version selling in lowyat..but not in the official msi website. Does this means that the seller changed the HDD?

2. Can this model install extra hard disk caddy?

3. what is the SRP for the SSD model (if there is)

4. Current location is at Kampar any dealer there? (I prefer COD)

5. Will the i7 for this model have discrete graphics? It's weird that i5 have GC but i7 don't.

I've did my homework researching about this model

1. Maybe official for MSI Malaysia - i found official flyer x460dx with SSD. In manual, SSD is optional to HDD, mybe Malaysia MSI changed to SSD.

2. I think can substitute with optical drive to install hdd candy

3. From flyer, SRP RM2499

4. Dont know also

5. I think MSI Malaysia only bought in i5 version.. no i7

Hi are there any plans of rolling out the 3rd gen Ivy Bridge Intel Processors? biggrin.gif

This is the only thing that is holding me back from getting a similar Asus/Alienware laptop as of now

Why both models are not customizable in terms of RAM and hard disk?

The customization of hdd and ram done by us are no warranted by MSI, so we think it's better for customer to purchase their own RAM and hard drives. It will be easier to claim warranty.

I am wondering the same too. Isn't it easier to claim warranty if the shop is doing the upgrade?

We are not originally from KL, if the drive dies you need to send back to our office, since MSI service center won't deal with that drive. So purchasing your own drive from your nearest reseller is the best solution, at lease you can just walk in and claim the warranty from that reseller.

I hope this is clear.

I hope MSI-MY is able to provide a thread to replace this dead thread. Many users are curious about the pricing for MSI new range of laptops.
