watching it now biggrin.gif
Haha, well i've been busy. Part time work, then went outstation and just only came back to KL yesterday. Yep, i'm currently looking at only 17" backpack. I need bigger backpacks to fit my other stuff as well. But was abit worry cause i've been looking at a few backpacks. The ones that i want doesn't really go well with the dimensions I've stated above. Was wondering if its really an issue though..

the backpack i want measures:
40 x 27 x 4 cm

G55 in centimeters is
37 x 30 x 2.5 cm
*
looks like you need to choose another BIGGER bagpack

Im getting the g55 also because for work. I'm studying architecture, a strong laptop (and since its portable) will come in handy with all the heavy softwares for my course.

Im upgrading mine to 16gb max. Will find a way in the future to include a SSD in my laptop to improve the boot time.
*
How to justify my software is running heavy or not?
Im studying software engineering.I have observed, last time my laptop running few software at same time are getting crash. Now change to SSD is getting better. rclxms.gif

i'm not too keen on targus or swiss backpacks design biggrin.gif price range should be similar to targus/swiss. Around rm300? This is a problem we'll face when buying a laptop that is too big for everything else. sweat.gif

Any G53 users here that can offer their advice?

My previous laptop couldnt stand my architectural softwares. Even after ram upgrades biggrin.gif i wasnt really familiar with laptop specs at that time. Not until i joined a few forums and start researching about them. After almost 2years of toleration with lags, crash and even overheat issues. I've decided to get something that is strong to support all my softwares.

and yes, SSD really makes a huge difference biggrin.gif biggrin.gif but asus just decide to screw us over by putting the mSATA slot deep inside the G55. Upgrading a SSD on your own is impossible without voiding the warranty. dry.gif but if your softwares can run perfectly fine on your current laptop, i dont see a reason to upgrade.

Same here, i was looking at crumpler too. Then moved on to Incase and Gravis. I think they're reliable, just spent a few days reading all the reviews. Should be good enough to hold the G55. Materials they used were pretty good. Just worry about whether can fit or not only. hahaha

If you have the budget, then why not? another reason im getting a gaming laptop is for games as well biggrin.gif

well if you read a few pages back, riku2replica did show us that if we want to upgrade to SSD in the G55. It'd require us to rip apart our laptop which will void the warranty in the process. So basically you have to send to Asus to upgrade. And i dont really trust asus service center...

of course ssd will perform better than hdd..but is 160gb enough for you?? and it is not friendly to upgrade hdd..also , avoid asus service centre as much as you can unless you need to service urgently.

Continue to search for backpack now biggrin.gif

Anyway HRX07, if you're not in a hurry for a new laptop. Then just wait a lil while more for reviews about the new G55. Besides, if you're not travelling around then getting a desktop is always better biggrin.gif
