QUOTE(Dbassnut @ May 14 2012, 12:24 AM) http://my.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerh...#specifications& finally the official specs & price. http://event.asus.com/my/2012/productguide/PG_May_June.pdfshown on pg.13. Does anyone else notice that some of the information, for the quality survey is outdated by 3 years? Survey was done in 2009. (shown on pg. 5) page 18 show G55 non 3D is 8 gb ram .which want is true?

QUOTE(girugaga86 @ May 14 2012, 01:17 PM) Im getting the g55 also because for work. I'm studying architecture, a strong laptop (and since its portable) will come in handy with all the heavy softwares for my course. Im upgrading mine to 16gb max. Will find a way in the future to include a SSD in my laptop to improve the boot time. How to justify my software is running heavy or not? Im studying software engineering.I have observed, last time my laptop running few software at same time are getting crash. Now change to SSD is getting better.

QUOTE(girugaga86 @ May 14 2012, 01:50 PM) My previous laptop couldnt stand my architectural softwares. Even after ram upgrades i wasnt really familiar with laptop specs at that time. Not until i joined a few forums and start researching about them. After almost 2years of toleration with lags, crash and even overheat issues. I've decided to get something that is strong to support all my softwares. and yes, SSD really makes a huge difference but asus just decide to screw us over by putting the mSATA slot deep inside the G55. Upgrading a SSD on your own is impossible without voiding the warranty. but if your softwares can run perfectly fine on your current laptop, i dont see a reason to upgrade. the problem is now i can play latest game like diablo3 .The screen will have glitch, not sure the laptop is coming ended (almost 3 years nearly 4) i cant change the hard disk to SSD by own for g55?? QUOTE(Arvinaaaaa @ May 14 2012, 02:36 PM) of course ssd will perform better than hdd..but is 160gb enough for you?? and it is not friendly to upgrade hdd..also , avoid asus service centre as much as you can unless you need to service urgently. btw G55 IS A GREAT LAPTOP 160gb currently is enough to use.actually can it using the max storage? will get void warranty or not, if i switch the hdd to ssd by own?(SATA not mSATA)

QUOTE(Arvinaaaaa @ May 14 2012, 02:44 PM) ya can use the adapter sebagai senjata.desktop is always better and more powerful Added on May 14, 2012, 2:45 pmthat once i not sure bro can use max storage or not, windows 7 os will take alot of space too..but most probably not..coz the primary hdd is very easy to access..wont void warranty I will wait more reviews then purchase mostly is traveling. now i installed win7,few software at ssd.Still left 90gb should be enough,if manage the space well.

QUOTE(riku2replica @ May 14 2012, 08:55 PM) Ur usage not even heavy. Unless ur running multiple simulators simultaneously. 8GB of ram is sufficient already unless ur hitting 70-80% Physical Memory with 8GB of RAM. SSD is a better investment, though i'm still allocating budget to swap both 5400rpm HDD for SSD in my G53SX. Already given my M4 SSD to my desktop as boot and development drive solely. thx for your advise.
