Mixing 1600 with 1333 ok or not? I know if you have a default as 1333, then add on a 1600 ram. The 1600 will underclocked itself to equalize itself with the 1333. Correct me on this.

But what about Mixing a default 4GB 1600mhz, with three 4gb 1333mhz rams?

this is my log on choosing a damn backpack for the g55.
yesterday i bought a 17 inch pierre cardin backpack just to find out that the g55 cant fit in the backpack due to its thickness. so i went to shop today and luckily can change the bag..i brought my laptop to the shop to test whether can fit or not..after not fitting into 13 bags exactly( ranging from 16 inch to 18 inch).i managed to find a Camel Active bag at rm 330 that can fit the g55..so change to that Camel Active 18 inch backpack, and the g55 barely fits into the camel bag.luckily..the bag pocket should expand in a few days..

conclusion..dont buy the bag until you have your g55.take it to the shop and try to fit in the backpack first..thank you smile.gif

conclusion

oh boy, thats a worry cause most of my backpacks cant be found here or are hard to find them here doh.gif

btw any picture of your new backpack biggrin.gif

it is the same..the default 1600mhz ram will underclock for the three 1333mhz ram..no matter what case, the higher clock ram will underclock..but why you want to add 3 more 4gb 1333mhz ram?..adding 1 4gb ram with default 4 gb ram is enough bro..8gb cukup..what do you think?

pictures of the bag..damn hard to find one..but the bag very nice and over the rm300 price range..no choice cause others below that price range cannot fit the g55
I dont think 8gb is enough for me laugh.gif games wise, they are enough. Even 8gb for games could be an overkill. But i was using a 8gb ram before this. It didnt do well for my 3D modelling. Although for better and faster rendering, it depends on the CPU not the RAM. But when i put in alot stuff in one scene, with millions of polygons and textures, i'll need that extra ram to be able to keep all that in memory for faster processing. Hence the RAM comes in handy when i start to go crazy with stuff in one scene thumbup.gif

and thats a nice bag btw. I have a few bags at home that maybe i'll try to fit the G55 first. If none of them fit, or cannot even stretched at all. Then... i'll get those huge luggage backpack sleep.gif

I almost bought an Alienware M17x at the price of rm4000++ too. If im not mistaken, it was around rm4550. Manage to cut down to rm4300. I did call up Dell to ask about the warranty, since the dealer did provide me with a service tag to prove that it is not a refurbished unit. The dell person told me that it is not a refurb, but it is an overseas set. Overseas set warranty will be different than malaysia's warranty. If we purchased an AW here in malaysia, we'll get the Dell 1 year complete cover. But the overseas one is not fully cover. Hence no "standard hardware warranty" which i believe is the most important one. You can try and ask for the Service Tag and then check with Dell.

Also, m17x with HD resolution is really really horrible. I actually went to mid valley, there's a store that is displaying a m17x unit. I checked the FHD resolution, damn nice. Then went to screen resolution and change to HD... blink.gif those that uses FHD will know how i feel..

anyhow, AW is still a good laptop. Think things through la k smile.gif

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am going for the non 3D model, i.e RM3,999/- . But even that i still have to wait for more than 2 wks. Damn frustrating.  By the way why is everyone going for this model.  As for me, after going thru this forum, i just follow you all because i don't know much about hardware and software.
because most of us here dont need the extra features like 3D and the Blu-ray reader. And you're paying an extra rm1k for it.

May i ask, what's the purpose of you getting a G55 for? gaming or for work? biggrin.gif

asus has international warranty, so there are no worries if you purchase from other country. The only worry we have is the quality of Asus malaysia serivce centre that many seems to adore.

5days wont be enough to get one, considering that the current batch of G55 is already sold out. The incoming batches should have a lot of ppl pre-ordering it. So go to garage sales and ask around, or any pc stores that may carry asus g series.

hi everybro!
wanna get suggestion which g55 better to get..since my father allow me to buy...
wondering 3999 better or 4999 better...
if i want upgrade to 12gb 1666mhz isit better?

suggest which targus back is more better...i am a uni student...need store book and laptop both...
*
Specs wise both are the same. It depends on whether you need the extra features like 3D and Blu Ray Reader, which you will have to pay an additional rm1k for it. If you need it, then get it. If you dont need it, get the non-3D version. If i'm not mistaken, your screen resolution for the 3D unit should be lower than the non 3D unit.

You mean is it better to upgrade to 12gb RAM by including 2 sticks of 4GB 1600mhz RAM or you're asking whether 1333mhz or 1600mhz is better?

What are your applications btw? gaming and college works? What kinda software do you plan to run on your G55 to need such high ram for it? I'm upgrading mine to the 12-16gb for my G55 because i'll be doing alot of rendering works, i'm an architecture student and 8gb RAM may not cut it. The extra memory will come in handy when i'm rendering alot scenes or a 3D model that contains a lot of polygons and textures.

But 8gb ram will be sufficient just for everything else.

Arvinaaa recently bought a backpack for his G55. If i recalled correctly, it is a Camel Active backpack that supports up to 18" laptop. Bear in mind that the G55 is almost the same size as any 17" laptop out there, or even BIGGER. The previous G53sx was almost similar in size with the Alienware M17x. Normal 17" backpack may not fit it as well.

any preferable laptop brand?

the coming asus N56 is packed with the latest ivy bridge processor and the GT 630m gpu. My gf is planning to get one for college use, she's an architecture student as well. But that will only save you up around RM400-500 (N56 should be around rm3.5-3.6k) compared to a G55 which is priced at rm3999. But N56 wins a lot in terms of portability, just so you know.

what about hp dv6? or even lenovo. They are pretty good.

probably i looking for 15.6 FHD
which better?i now wondering n56 and n55 compare with g55..
dono wanna concentrate my decision with G55 or nt  doh.gif

if budget is not an issue. Then why not? So i assume that you only want ASUS. The new N56 will come with a HD resolution, this is what have confirmed so far. I dont remember which N55 has the FHD, maybe you could ask around in the N45/N55 thread. But better be quick before the N56 take over soon. No news regarding FHD in the new N56 yet.

Are you a heavy gamer? how often will you be bringing your laptop around? Do you need such specs for your applications. And whether are you in a hurry for a laptop? ask yourself this

Or just go with riku2replica's advice. Get a cheaper laptop, use the extra cash on a SSD and additional RAMs. SSD is a WORTHY investment.

and i'm still upset with asus screwing us over with a mSATA bay.

n56 probably when going out?
if could invest in ssd..i could better go for ZENBOOK? rclxub.gif
sorry if could bother...need suggestion @_@ probably grap tonite..

There is a guy currently selling N56 in garage sales. Here's the link: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2343663&hl=

so far, i've only found one that is selling the new N56. And you can always purchase a SSD then install it into your machine. The asus zenbook should have a HD+ resoltuion (1600x900). You can always compare specs and price and read more reviews yourself. Do more research on it. We can only help this much. But if you gonna get a laptop tonight, G55 is out of the question then. No stock available now.

N56 is on the cover of Asus May-June 2012 product guide.
Inside tat guide, u can see the full specs of N56, it is a 15.6 FHD.
But i will still go for the g55, btw i am new to this forum.
Nice to meet you guys  biggrin.gif

ASUS product guide is already out? that's good. But cant take asus' brochure seriously.. they always have a typo. It's like how they listed down G53sx with only a HD resolution, but in fact the G53sx comes with a FHD.

You oso buying beats studio?..how much is it? I heard the current rrp for beats studio is rm1699.when I bought it, it cost rm1749. Or r u buying other brand?
*
Yep, the studio cause around rm1699 now.

Haha, nah. I'm not into Beats. I'm currently getting an AKG headphone, the AKG k518le, about rm200 from US (malaysia selling rm400) Something that i regret now.. laugh.gif cause i could've gone for the AiAiAi TMA-1 instead. A friend of mine is into headphones, he has one of this model. Amazing sound and I prefer the bass in the TMA 1 compared to the beats plus it's about 1k cheaper. Another thing that caught my attention is the minimalist design. I'm a sucker for that tongue.gif

here's a review by Clieos for the TMA-1

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2008784/all

but nvm, consider the AKG as an entry to my newly found obsession laugh.gif will get the TMA-1 very very soon.

what games have you played on the G55 so far?
