understood  nod.gif  but i don't have to play with this trick.
could it be an isolated case of urs only?

that video was from hwb. and my unit also encounter the same thing. i believe the newer BIOS fixed that issue already.
good thing.

thanks for clarification.

think so coz i flashed to Bios 1.3 right at the first boot. So this board GD65 is currently holding the WR for SB-E @ 5.8GHz under SS.

Just that MSI bios engineers need to work harder to improve their bios. The latest bios has 12X ratio bug unsolved yet although there's a workaround for it.

One last thing. The current BIOSes have this annoying issue that whenever the board doesn't like any of your settings, be it temperature, bclk, voltage or anything else, it'll lock itself in x12 CPU ratio. I tested this board with ln2 and anything below +15°C caused the x12 ratio trigger. The workaround is rather easy though:

1) go in bios
2) set all the ratios/voltages/frequencies you want to run at
3) check if temperature is above 15°C
4) save and exit
5) the board will now do a hard reboot (shutdown and power up)
6) go back in the bios
7) drop temperature
8) exit without saving the settings
9) boot in os

As long as you don't have the board shut down (by changing a bios setting or hard crash), the x12 bug will not occur. Once you do have a hard crash, you're royally screwed though!

even gd45 has this.
it cant go below 0c. if the CPU temp (built in) go below 0C, in windows the speed will only 1.2Gz.
too much volt also will trigger the x12.

good thing is there is no more hard reboot if you change multi in GD45 in latest BIOS.
GD65 still got hard reboot thing?

Actually u can go to online wc store ie performancepc, frozencpu, sidewindercomputer.com to check. I assume that ure refering to RIVE. So far there are only EK and Koolance wb for RIVE. DangerDen can custom make it for u but that would cost u a bomb. Due to complicated PCB design, X79 wb wont look nicer than X58 ie R3E. Pls proceed to the existing WC thread for further discussion.

my bad..sryy..btw out of curiosity..

what factor could make ur processor lifespan decrease?

is it heat or the voltage being supply to it?i mean 2011 by right should withstand better than the normal sb-E? since nowdays i often do video rendering and setting up my proc to 5ghz @1.48 ..kinda worried about the lifespan of the processor..

second is my x79 temp is at 41-43c on 5ghz full load..is it safe? currently just blowing the heat sink..

Common sense. High heat n voltage might degrade your proc. Dont stress your CPU 1.54v or higher on air cooling or low end wc kit.

X79 chipset, which has nothing to do with CPU degradation, is already hot at stock during load. Your 40c + is actually normal, dangerous level would be 80c+ until bios throttles down CPU speed.

Google for "SBE safe voltage" & and see.
