QUOTE(marsha1l @ Jan 2 2012, 11:14 PM) ram settings changes on every reboot so need to set manually coz i always failed to finish spi on auto.multilevel LLC is better than Giga (Z68, i'm not sure how's their X79) vcore etc are pretty much comparable to RIVE, booting time is as slow as RIVE anyway still too early to comment much coz need some time to familiarize with its behaviour. |

Asus Rampage IV Extreme:
BIOS: 0002B (Adds internal pll over-voltage option, improves stability for 7970 when 7970 under LN2) 0001B - more efficient than 0002B 1005 (official BIOS, updated PCIe codes for improved compatibility with some GPUs) OC Key Firmware: 1003 This post has been edited by owikh84: Jan 3 2012, 10:38 AM |

Saw the following in foldingforum.com, not sure if it works for you guys. He is running a 3930k.
Quote : "Hey, one thing I figured out that no one else is talking about - open your computer on the other side where the back of the processor is. You'll see the silver square of the processor itself and a black strip of metal above it. If you cool that black strip of metal *from the back* you can lover vcore temp by almost 20 degrees if its over 75 - 80. I have an Asus Sabertooth mobo, and yours might be different, but that works for me." |

QUOTE(kuntawakaw @ Jan 10 2012, 08:03 AM) @Owikh GD65? PPL thingy is there on 1.4b3 as well.No PLL trick like i posted before right? its fixed already i think. and mind to share me ur temperature for that 5Ghz setting? Thanks Anyway the latest RIVE bios added this option already so it is still exist since SB. The GD65 was cooled by cheapo XSPC RASA 750 RS240 kit i tried to keep max temp lower than 91c to prevent throttling. Now i keep the whole 2nd rig under my bed already until i get a better CPU hopefully a C2 stepping. |

QUOTE(kuntawakaw @ Jan 10 2012, 10:36 AM) i mean this trick. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=47416343 depends on chip, some CPU might need this Internal CPU PLL overvoltage enabled in order to pass win logon screen at 50X or as low as 48X. Fortunately both of my 3960X & 3930K don't need this option to be enabled until 50X.because i tested with gd45, it can wonderfully go beyond 5Ghz without the PLL overvolt trick i posted earlier. |

Hope its clear |
