Kind of expensive. Take quote from different people to decide. I'd suggest get a 6months old used alienware. Since Dell warranty is good, you can replace parts if thr is any fault.

I have problem with my newly bought Alienware x51. There seems to be this one problem where my graphic card suddenly stopped responding and then it recovered again. Whenever I play a game, this will happen. My graphic card is Nvidia GT640. Anyone has any idea or encountered this problem before?

Clean installation i assume. Since it's newly bought, call up dell for assistance.

Clean installation the whole thing? Or just clean installation for the graphic card driver? Sorry I have no experience in this kind of thing. I hope you don't mind helping.

Just the graphic driver. This was like major issues, look up the web there's tons of it. Try narrow things up, could it be power settings, audio, hardware or game issues?
Use your dell privilege, ask for support.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with power settings, audio, hardware nor games. Because it says the card is not responding and recovered again..

Hi there,

Alienware owner here, specs are as below:

M17X R2
Processor: -Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor (1.60GHz, 6M 1B Cache)
Screen: 17.0" WUXGA 1920 x 1200 - Beyond HD (1200p) - RGB 1 LED wub.gif (loving the screen)
Memory: 8GB Dual-channel 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4GB)
Hard Disk: 640GB 7.2K SATA HDD RAID 0(2 X 320GB)
Display: Dual - 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4870

Anyway guys, I'm looking to upgrade my laptop, here's some upgrade I have on my mind.
Processor:
Going to get the i7 920xm 3.2g couple with throttle stop

Memory:
Going to get the SO DIMM 1333 16gb (2x8gb)

Display:
Going to get the 7970m 2 piece (does anybody now where I can buy the cards? I've looked everywhere sad.gif )

Hard Disk:
Going for SSD, can you suggest the best I can get for my laptop? and whether 2 SSD can be made into a Raid 0 and does the performance differ

I am also looking to upgrade the wifi card, sound card and also coating the laptop with a new set of paint, if I have the time and money to do so la... sweat.gif

any help given is much appreciated guys... notworthy.gif

I found the card in ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HD7970M-Alienware-...=item1c3046f811

If I want to use it as crossfire, I would have to buy 2 of these cards right?
