who said 7970m has heating issue? my card never go above 80 even when i play on ultra setting. I researched a lot... AMD 7970 is better than Nvidia 660, 670, 675 even 675MX. Yes 680M is better but then it's more than double the price of AMD 7970m

undervolt? didn't do that yet, btw it's a 8months old laptop in very good condition
Maybe Alienware design is like this but it doesn't bother me as temps are normal allowing me to get the best out of my specs |

I am thinking to overclock but I might not as it decreases the life of parts as they worn out sooner than later, especially bearing of the fan. Anyhow games work smooth on ultra so I don't need to OC. Maybe after 1 year when GFX get more high

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Feb 13 2013, 10:04 PM) 79 on gaming is not bad. Anything above 90 is bad. All these latest titles contain badass graphics. I suggest you to youtube 680M vs 7970M, it has all the benchmarks and temperatures. Wait let me find the link.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtyBtZnu854 .... here fyi Nvidia 680M heats up more Watch this full review and you'd know why 7970M is better. |

what backpacks are you using for your alienware M17xR1, 2, 3 or 4
Basically for 17.3 inches. I am looking for one. Is alienware Orion any good? I read some bad reviews that it's less durable and the quality of the bag is cheap. |

QUOTE(nate_nightroad @ Feb 15 2013, 11:36 PM) Base Alienware M17x (R4) for Direct dont get Nvidia 675M, get AMD 7970.. it's cheaper and better card! if not cheaper same price card and definitely better than 675M. Unless you can afford 680M which is slightly better than 7970M AMD Operating System Windows 8 Single Language, English (64bit) Memory 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4GB) Keyboard AlienFX® Illuminated Keyboard (English Int) Video Card 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M Hard Drive 2TB 5400RPM Hard Drive (1TBx2)(Raid 0) Optical Drive Slot Load Fixed Blu-ray BD-ROM / DVD + /-RW Combo Drive Wireless Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 With Bluetooth 4.0 (MY) |

QUOTE(nate_nightroad @ Feb 15 2013, 11:53 PM) the 7970 is rm150 more expensive than 675m... 150RM+ only? I STILL say get 7970Mman that 680m is a real burner - burn a hole in my pocket look at this video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKeziiwMp0E talking about R5, mann tech keeps changing! who knows... 8970M is coming out soon too |
