Well, just ordered my Windows 8 upgrade for my M17x. Hopefully it won't crash any of my game.
One question though, can i still use my 3D vision 2 after the upgrade?

already updated my alienware to windows 8 .. the gestures u can do a little bit function but not so smooth .. overall windows 8 is ok but if can touch will be superok

Hey, if you enable the touchpad, didn't it will disturb you when you gaming or typing? I mostly will use mouse and I will disable the touchpad to prevent any disturbance, so I need to enable it back for that?

Or I am missing something here?

Recently bought x51 alienware Desktop from Dell but I am having problem with the browsers. It seems that all browsers that I have intermittently fail to load web pages, partially, or very slow.

Sometime the web page fails to open on the first attempt but works flawlessly after refresh.

I have another machine at home running Windows XP and it's running fine (assuming my network is okay).

I have done few steps of troubleshooting but so far to no avail. Hope sifus here can help. Many thanks

1. Uninstalled antivirus
2. Installed new antivirus
3. Disabled firewall both antivirus and windows
4. Enabled Windows firewall only
5. Enabled Antivirus firewall only
6. Used private browsing in Mozilla
7. Used IE 64bit browser

Yea, normally will tick the "Disable touchpad if external mouse plugged in"

I use external mouse and keyboard so won't be touching my laptop's body also, haha ...

Sigh, now I am having problem with my SSD on M14x.

Power on then wont boot Windows one, need to turn off and on again so the Windows start to boot.

Ok, updated mine to Windows 8 Pro. Everything is fine except it broke some of my games. Dark Soul loaded but fine until title, no display when in game. Borderland2 and Sudden Attack totally won't load.
Diablo 3, Dishonored and Crysis2 works fine though.

is it worth to get the alienware laptop now ? i checked on dell its only going for 3999 right now ...i5 though ...im new to alienware is there better deals?

If you know anybody from inside Dell, ask them to get 1 for you. Its way cheaper this way. I got my M17x+GTX680M only at RM6600, while the web easily goes for RM9800

Ok, here are some finding after upgraded mine M17x to Win8 Pro. Dark Soul now running perfectly. Previously problem was due to the Dsfix. After removing it, it runs perfectly again.
Borderland2 is working as well now. It turns out that one of the .dll file from re-distribution library was missing. After putting it back everything is fine again.
The only not working game is Sudden Attack.

Oops, forgot to mention that if you plan to upgrade from Win 7 be careful about the .net 3.5 installation issue. There are a lot of people having problem re-installing .net3.5 in Win8 including me
Luckily I am able to find the solution to this problem. It turns out that this is cause by a corrupted registry which halted the .net 3.5 installation.
Go to command prompt (run with administrator) and type "Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\net35 /LimitAccess” to clean your registry. After you can proceed to install .net3.5 with no problem.
