Just upgraded my m14xR2 to Windows 8 Pro.....not much of driver issue...everything just working out of the box....very impressed with its boot up time....previously was 11 sec...now is 7-8 sec only......for those who wanna utilize w8 features....you may wish to try the new logitech touch mouse T620...it is available at lowyat now....even without touch screen....we still can enjoy the w8 features to certain extend at least....

QUOTE(chtan @ Nov 10 2012, 11:45 PM) Ok, updated mine to Windows 8 Pro. Everything is fine except it broke some of my games. Dark Soul loaded but fine until title, no display when in game. Borderland2 and Sudden Attack totally won't load. Hmm are those games legit ? or *ahem* version? My borderland2 *ahem* version same as yours but I got it fixed Diablo 3, Dishonored and Crysis2 works fine though. So far I think direct upgrade no problem. I wanted to try UEFI boot , thats why I went for clean install while formatting the whole hard drive to gpt format. With UEFI, can try secure boot and win8 fast boot option QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 18 2012, 07:26 AM) You using Dell home site installer to install the OSD? yes , driver from dell. tried install OSD with window 7 and window 8 driver separately still no luck.My M14x R1 no problem and i using M14x R2 driver to install :\ |

QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 19 2012, 08:52 AM) I upgraded first and then found that it's not really good after upgrade. Which driver you used? Is the name of driver is App_OSD_W84_X02_A00_Setup-CCP3F_ZPE ? So did a new clean install. Both works fine also with the OSD. Dell even figure out a method to install the OSD yet it doesnt work for me QUOTE Uninstall the OSD driver >> Turn on .netframework3.5 in Programs & Features >> Install this version >> Having .netframework activated should make the driver work fine. QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 19 2012, 11:50 AM) Tried with your driver yet still .. not working, I checked the Alienware OSD process is running and it was enabled on startup and on running status. But then whenever I prs turn volume up/down, the windows OSD pops out instead of alienware one. I found that the only alienware OSD that working is Fn+F2 (battery) and Fn+F7 (mute button). Hence the Fn-F3 not working which mean I cant enable my bluetooth. I googled and found that theres actually people encountering same problem as me facing right now. Link |
