Guys,

I have an m17x R2 with CFX 4870m GPU cards. I'm itchy to upgrade to 6970m. Any advice from the masters here. I read around that there are a few version of 6970m cards and some behave differently in the R2 when plugged into it.

Any tips on what to look out for and what to do once I have it in my R2?

Thanks
azxel

Hehe, finally received my m17x 3 days ago. bought from Mr Viper. very nice n helpful guy. He's even returned my money payment which i wrongly calculated on dell website thumbup.gif .

i'm very nervous when Estimate Delivery Date in Dell website was 22 August. But when i called them on 13th, they quickly check my order n arrange the delivery on the same day. not bad service at all or maybe i'm just lucky. Now i can celebrate Raya with my beloved Alienware wub.gif .

Next, intel 520 series rclxms.gif . Any news about enduro performance? has it been fixed?

I want to ask all alienware owners....is there anybody using RAID 0 array for dual SSDs? How is the performance? Is TRIM be able to support under RAID array? I will be getting a m4 256GB mSATA soon, so i was thinking to configure as RAID 0 array with my 2.5" m4 256GB SSD.....just curious....if the performance gain is not much...i will stay with AHCI setting....please advise biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Overclocking for CPU or GPU....? CPU...you can do it via BIOS....GPU is rather simple...just download msiafterburner...interface is simple to use...tips for overclocking is try to do it bit by bit...until your system unstable...which mean you had push to its limit....even some of us are having the same spec...but it is vary when come to overclocking....some system can really go beyond its limit...but some cannot....try ur luck.. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif hope this helped...

My bad tongue.gif

Can overclock both CPU and GPU at the same time?

But if I start overclock, do I need to use cooling things to cool it off all the time?

Right now playing SC2 with Ultra spec, the temp will reach 62 degree using Cooler Master U2.

u can overclocking both simultaneously....even RAM itself also can overclock.... all u need to monitor is the stability of your system as well as temperature of ur CPU and GPU if you decided to overclock both at the same time.....to me as long as the temp is below 70c....it is still save....

My opinion is to focus on GPU overclocking for the time being....bcoz CPU we can rely on TurboBoost to kick in when needed....gaming usually are more GPU incentive instead of CPU..... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Just my 2 cents

Just reformatted the machine, installed Win 7 Ultimate on the SSD and reinstalled a bunch of drivers. Now to set it up again with all the alienware defaults.
