Recent rumors are

Export of EBN to China will resume soon, within April to June.

Neighboring countries are planning to boycott Chinese preserved fruits, vegetables and other condiments.

Several parties hoping to monopolize importation of EBN into China by setting standards that initially few others will be able to attain.

Vast stocks of EBN will ensure the price rebound will be modest until such stocks are depleted. Controlled release will ensure great profits for these people with the stocks.

Would be nice if anyone can confirm the above.

Where do you get these rumors? I havent heard any yet. Some of the local buyers are blur as well.

our MCA top leader son said that, he only come in to help out us to sell our nests...after that whether the local dept let u to keep operating or not is up to THEM, he cannot help.

and he assured that no monopoly in this industry..

and datuk liow also no sight of him liao..as agri dept is in charge now.

Datuk ong already helped us in keep pushing our PM to help us.

So, ordinary farmers are again been strip naked n exposed to the big C, the big M, and now the BIG SC controlling the whole bird's nest market.

still got hope or not.......how i wish i can still said got hope !!....still can see the light guiding us at the end of the tunnel.....

with the strict guidelines to get the licence....all the ah ma n ah sun n ah pak processing plants in kampung will closed shop. all small time players will closed shop. so, left with the 8 or 9 or maybe some powerful individuals or groups will managed to fight for their own licences will be able to sell bird's nest in china.

This will cause a major major problem to ordinary farmers, it means,
the prices will not be back to the same old level.......

but one thing the Top Leader MCA son did successfully, he just chase away many high core MCA followers to vote for the opposition for the rest of their remaining life.....

1Malaysia boleh.

Dont worry. Big shot will stabilize this industry. Small farmers wont close shop. If close shop where yhe big shot gonna get the raw nest? Sky and sea? Just that if these big shots get in, price will be controlled by them so dont expect rm4000 above. Rm3000 is nice already. If this industry is no hope then might as well sell ur current BHs. Today everyone smarter already, not that easy to kill farmers income. Sure will fight one.

Please la dont make it sound like the end of the world with aunty apek close shop kind of thing. Maybe it is good idea to scare newbies away from this industry so less bird nests supply into the market.

25 BHs? My god bro you really invest heavily into this industry. If price is good and 4 kgs from each BH which translate into 100kgs per month. Rm3k a kilo, u can easily make rm300k per month. ohmy.gif

Dr noh said agro bank has given out loans worth of 1 billion for building swiftlet house for farmers. If bird nest industry issue is not solved yet, i guess many will default and affect agro bank balance sheet. Agro bank is glc though

QUOTE(tiger chong @ Jun 21 2012, 08:53 AM)
hi all, ya i am new in posting reply but i already keep reading this thread for a long time already. im not very good in english ,that y i dont like to post. rclxub.gif  not all bh farmer study so high or so clever to write so long discussions like our member did in this thread vmad.gif . i feel shame for my self sad.gif . i and my father own several bh at kedah state. we can harvest +- 40kg a month. i already keep my bn for a few month already and decide to sell part of it , bcoz i think the hope to the price to going up is so small already. actually the buyer just give me rm1250 for all gred bcoz he say i have so many broken bn.
*
Your english is good enough. We dont need fantastic english here since informations are much more valueable. If all your BH already reach the break even point, 40kgs a month still a huge profit. +-rm45k a month. Tell me how many professionals are earning this figure! biggrin.gif

How you guys value a bird house these day? Still follow rm500 x number of nests? My valuation idea is abit different. Assume a bird house can generate rm10k per month, the bird house can command around 1.5mil to 2mil. Since 2mil at 6% p.a is equalvalent to 120k per year. Very much like shoplop except the tenants are swiftlet.

If valued at 1.5mil, the Yield is 8%.

There are still tons of illegal bird houses around. Some of the farmers tried to apply for license but the state government in Sarawak never bother to issue the licenses. In fact they only issued a very few licenses for crony mainly Rimbunan Hijau as i remember. Any farmers from sarawak here?
